Thank you soooo much! Although i don't think their "spider-mites" but rather "soil-mites", but either way, their mites and I have those exact same big red mites and their out of control. I am going to do that. I have heard of doing this before, but I forgot.
I do also think they help speed composting. My bin seems to compost really fast with all those mites, but they are crawling out and getting into other things. I think i heard sliced cucumber or sliced potato can work to, but melon rinds look to be best.
Well, they're not THAT bad. I use a trap like the watermelon,any food that has lots of moisture. You can also let the bin dry out a bit. They like it wet.
