im confused. I just got into this show and watched blood and sands season 1 , but this looks like a prequel. Was this released after blood and sand ? Or was it just a prequel released after? And is the new one (vengeance) a sequal?

@ksherman51 yes, gods of the arena is a prequal, but it was released after because they had to halt season 2 because Andy Whitfield (spartacus), got cancer. In my opinion gods of the arena is better than blood and sand, even though it's half as many episodes

Whitfield died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma on 11 September 2011, 18 months after his initial cancer diagnosis.

BUT I will say I preferred the Blood And Sand series ...Gods was a 9/10, Blood was 12 / 10 !!!
