Dual undertail exhausts look awfull on every bike - B-King, -06 ZX-10R, now on R1- it makes the rear of the bike look FAT.

Didn't like the sound of engine either - sounds, like something is terribly wrong inside :)

The overall look? What that they have 2 wheels, a split headlight , undertail exhausts and are both motorcycles? Thats where the similarities end. I could NEVER, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER mistake an R1 for a 1098/1198. The only similarity they share are the basics i listed above. The exhausts are different shapes, the fairings are different, the headlight setup is different, the tail light is different. But hey if you think they look similar, more power to you. Its all good.

How are you confused? Google Ducati 916, 996, 998, 999. Look at the exhaust systems. Ducati has been using the dual undertail cans since 1994. R1 took on undertail in 2004, 10 years after Duc had been using it on their bikes. The point is that Yamy has ripped the R1 exhaust system off from Ducati. Its fine. I dont care, Im not going to NOT buy a Yamy because of it. There are other reasons why I dont buy R1. Its a fine looking bike. But Ducati was there first. Thats all Im saying

Honda's NR750 had an under seat exhaust in 1992, so I'm not sure why you're calling the Ducati so original.

It's a moot point anyways since it's not a big deal for a major motorbike manufacturer to route the exhaust anywhere.

Whats an NR750? I know of the Honda NR that was sold with a 750cc motor or the RC40, but there is no such thing as the NR750. Either way 300-700 of those were built. Not exactly going to see one on the street. Everyone steals and borrows style and influance from each other. There are only so many places to stick an exhaust. Look at how many companies have "borrowed" Buel's under motor exhaust now. It doesnt matter.
