The 1 inch punch is a myth that has been disproved so many times and Lee never fought ANYONE in an actual fight. They were all exhibition fights. As for the masters challenge, nobody can say if that even really happened.
Vale Tudo(Portuguese for anything goes) stems from Pankration a greek MMA dating back to 648 B.C.E. Brazilian Booth fighting(Vale Tudo) started in Rio de Janeiro in 1925. The name Vale Tudo was given to the sport in 1959 when it was used to describe the style-versus-style bouts. Anything goes, Hmmmm. That sounds alot if not just like JKD.

One of the reasons Bruce Lee was truely great is because he was a philosopher
Examined every single martial art out there, knew to take out the useless movements
Examined the thought processes of other fighters and all the possibilities just like in chess
Then practiced repetitions strenuously, making sure not to go into the depths of hurting oneself, but to execute movements flawlessly, with little to no thinking (practicality is questionable)

I totally agree. No martial artist before or since has yet to match the incredible skill of Bruce Lee. He was truly the master of unarmed combat. How tragic that he was taken in the prime of his life. His contribution to the martial arts would have been even more substantial if he had survived.

Force of strike=Mass * Acceleration and Bruce Lee had a perfect balance of body mass and extreme speed.

i think he died... from a pill he took when he had a headache, that a lady friend gave to him in a hotel,... causing him his head to swell upp.. and when they rushed him to the hospital, in an ambulance he was *pronounced dead at arival* i have the real footage of it on my video collection of bruce lee tapes,...

back in the day when bruce was alive there was many people who would come up to bruce in between filming movies or even on the street and would ask him "hey, can you really do the things you say you can?" and " you are not who you say you are, I will beat you now" like one challenger.. ready set.. smash.. and before he knew what happend the challengers teeth were falling out.

The One Inch punch is real. bruce lee made it more well known, but he did not invent it. it is from Wing Chun, the style he was first tought in by Yip Man. Jeet Kune Do uses alot of western boxing. was mahomad ali fake? bruce lee was fast and very skilled. he studid over 2000 books on the art. chuck norris was a world karate champ and he aknowlaged bruce as a better fighter then.

it does not matter what anyone says the only reason he died was that his training regiment was insane and he did not stop. tell me this. name any fighter that has a training regiment thats insane. try to train for 6 hrs a day without stoping 6 days a week for one year straight.

He did not die of over training. Just look at how Bruce Lee's son and father died. Research it! Someone or some group murdered Lee.

tacedgeinc, you should know that many martial arts actually comes to the same idea basic as JKD, just no way as the way, yiquan from china is actually quite similar in that way. Anyway, there are usually big difference among them. JKD include a lot of training ideas that are break through in sport training i would think. Learning something inside is better than talking what all we already know from JKD.
Bruce Lee is sure a legend.

yet in many of he's breaks during film or "cut" there was always someone sent to challenge this great practitioner of he's own art, and in whinch he always kicked major butt, and allowed him to practice he's art form...all they did was stomp the floor three times and that was the challenge for him...isn't that kool...i just feel sorry that he had to pass at a young age...R.I.P. He only fought exhibition fights but that dont mean he doesnt kick major ass. With the speed and strength it has, bare first, it would only take one punch in the face and youd be done. He was a teacher, a practitioner of his own art, he didn't fight for enjoyment cuz he said so himself that he doesn't like violence. Just like all martial art masters they do not approve of violence thats why he didn't fight. But he kicks major ass. #1 inspiration.

JKD has never produced a champion fighter outside of its own relm. If JKD is such a great fighting form then why don't you see or hear of JKD fighters winning in MMA such as PRIDE or UFC And don't make up excuses for Lee or JKD. WRONG! Vale Tudo had the same mind set. Use what works. Vale Tudo has been around since the 1920's. Almost all that Lee used was Kung Fu with 2% from 10-15% of other forms. I've come with a new fighting principle myself. It's call POYA "Pull it Out Your Ass". That's what lee did. Use what works, WOW what a freakin break through.

jkd stands for jeet kune do this is bruce lees concept, not vale tudo, Im a jeet kune teacher and instructor. my student s have beating other styles. and my top student who is 13 has only lost 1 fight. and he wil fight next year in the black belt division and will win. bruce lee was not a teacher only but a student of many people. and he took what he learned and edit what he didnt think was useful. its his own private understanding.

Vale Tudo came before JKD 40+ years. Lee basicly took VT and put the JKD name on it. I'll say it slow this time. If JKD is so great and kick ass then why don't you see it in the pro arena (Pride, UFC, K1). JKD is like TKD You have basic core priniples which cost you a fight. JKD base is Kung Fu. KF is very easy to defeat. Yes JKD uses other styles but it is KF at its base.

He would get destroyed by the likes of Dan Henderson, Wanderlei Silva or Fedor Emelianenko. And don't even come back with excuses. The 1 inch punch is a myth that has been disproved so many times and Lee never fought ANYONE in an actual fight. They were all exhibition fights. As for the masters challenge, nobody can say if that even really happened.

Vale Tudo(Portuguese for anything goes) stems from Pankration a greek MMA dating back to 648 B.C.E. Brazilian Booth fighting(Vale Tudo) started in Rio de Janeiro in 1925. The name Vale Tudo was given to the sport in 1959 when it was used to describe the style-versus-style bouts. Anything goes, Hmmmm. That sounds alot if not just like JKD.
