Shar pei do very well with children. I have a three year old brother and him and my sharpei are like best friends. my brother can do anything with my shar pei, even take things out of her mouth, she won't care at all.
The only time i see my shar pei gets agressive is with strangers, when we aren't around (like when she stays at the petshop for bathing).
But if you introduce your guests properly, the sharpei will be very recepctive and full of joy!
they are good with children.. I have 2 Shar Pei`s. If you train them well when they are young... they are the perfect dogs! :) Training with clicker is the easyest way to train shar pei. But... Shar Pei have one weard thing, sometimes you cant get contakt with them. Its like they are in their one bouble. thats why they are hard to train. So, if you use the clicker, most of the work with them are easy :)
But if this is the first dog for you, i would pick another breed....

@halfgoodhalfevil I've had my Shar Pei for 13 years, still alive and still going strong. She's SO good with children, and she's so loyal to our family. We're always thinking about her; as soon as our newborn was born 5 years ago she knew right away to be gentle with the baby and she always gets defensive when strangers touch our baby, who is now 5 and she STILL gets defensive over him. Such a great dog.
what i hate about the DOGS 101 is they say for every preed ( THEY HAVE SOME HEALTH PROBLEMS ) for god's name every vid i see from 101 they say the same thing .. to scared the people .... PEOPLE I HAVE 3 DOGS AND I'M NOT A 15 YEARS OLD TEEN I'M 22 YEARS OLD AND 2 OF MY DOGS ARE ENGLISH BULLDOGS 1 MALE 1 FEMALE AND THEY DONT HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS ... people all you need is some exercise and big big big love :D dont scare to buy or even better addopt a dog :D
@ONLYreggaebass They mean for the breed in general, not for each individual dog. That's why when you acquire your dog you better check if they are free of those health problems or not. If your English Bulldogs are healthy then it's good. You don't have to be scared of getting a dog if you check the dog or the puppy's parents if they are free of health concerns.
was gonna get 1 but not now no good with kids??i have a american akita an the same was said in a way but that the akita wont or rearly turns on her own and she is great with my kids any 1 who owns shar pei with kids on here let me know how they get on
@lockateard17 My mom is breeding Shar peis and have done it for 7-8 years. We have 7 females & 2 males. Its is truely a lie that shar peis ain't working good with children. There has newer been 1 encedent with me, my brother or 10 years old sister. Its an amazing family dog. I have a shar-pei it's awsome and cute I got it when it was 2 months old :) now it's 1 year old it's a female and childish because she just lives children!
do do i and Bella is a very sweet dog and she is very nice to my 4 year old cousin so they can be around young children o.k so don't judge a dog by the way it looks.
A Shar pei killed a toy doberman at my dog park last week. Literally just took the little guy in his mouth, shook it and killed it.
