  • Dean Learner stays with the shotty.

  • that fucking song rules...man this show should have been atleast 5 seasons and two fucking movies godamnn baby I LIKE IT!!

  • Anyone notice he's chicken-pecking at his keyboard? I love the references to Garth's poor literacy, such as 'I've written far more books than I have read'.

  • I used to be a sexy doctor, until I took a whisk to the leg.

  • Wish i watched this in the 80s

  • Stephen is following his doctors advice to bend at the knees when he goes through doorways, looks quite strange though.

  • "as long as it's not a screwdriver" hahahahhahaha

  • @estamundo Priceless!

  • What does Sanchez say at 11:51 when they are running from the filing cabinets?! It sounds like "clurring up...dismay!" or something.

  • I will always remain in awe of how they captured the 80's style of the intro credits

  • The temp is like Norm from Phineas and Ferb

  • why is Dr. Sanchez so hot?

  • i love that steven merchant is the chef

  • How do the actors keep a straight face doing all of this???xD

  • this show is genius .. 11:26

  • Why has noone made a clip @8:12 to 8:31 yet? that scene is incredible...Mind you so is the rest of the show, but yea!

  • I don't know why there wasn't a 2nd season. I think that it has aged incredibly well.

  • @hillysats Well it has'nt aged for that long to be fair, only seven years to be precise. But yeah, a second season would be much appreciated

  • Hilarious to note how 'the temp' is shot throughout the episode. Obviously taller than Dagless, he's often filmed from only the neck up in an attempt to even their height. Awesomely petty. Also, great 80s action montage with the jammin' synth riff.

  • Steve Merchant!!!!

  • Is that chef Steve Merchant?

  • @krkrkrkrkrkrkrkrkrkx There's only one goggly eyed freak that tall.

  • The screwdriver-beer punchline was the cheesiest AND the funniest ever.

  • I'd prefer a beer!

  • notice how he streaks his hand on the banister

  • 18:27 - god knows when

    "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • Those zoom-ins on the prop hospital get me every time.

  • @TeeMcDee89 That's a prop?

  • I laughed so hard at the part when kept fucking saying maggots loloollolol

  • I just realized this: Why do these doctors have guns?

  • I think the cafeteria cashier is the same actress who played the pretty blonde nurse in Skipper the Eyechild.

  • @NIN992 how do you hate shaun of the dead and the office ...you freak ..

  • "but who? and why? and for what reason?"

    Dean Lerner is my favorite.

  • son of a bitch

  • "sonofabitch" - Stephen Merchant

  • 4:16

stephen fucking merchant, the voice of Wheatley in Portal 2

    jesus

  • I ran the only way I knew how: by placing one leg in front of the other in quick succession!

  • i dont know man that phone scene...probably has to be among the funniest things in comedy history

  • "yes I'd prefer a beer!"

  • Black Books is also a great Brit comedy and The League of Gentlemen... thanks for the lobotomy!

  • "Ooof course! That's why these attacks are mysterious: they're not conventional attacks."

  • Why arnt all E.R shows like this?

  • tellykanesis. o_o

  • "As long as it's not a screwdriver!"

  • did someone knows the name of the music 02:04 ?

    this video rules, btw

  • "why don't you help instead of just standing there dreaming about lipstick"

  • LolWAT?

All of a sudden this giants cook walks in and he has the voice of Stephen Merchant!

    He's everywhere.

  • UH-HUH. BYE.

  • "Ive seen a couple i fancyyyyyy"

  • sonofabitch xD Stephen Merchant rulesssss

  • Tele-ke What?

  • i konw the audio is supposed to be bad but you tube has the audio screwed up more

  • Comment removed

  • @jechichi The editing is supposed to be bad. It is part of the joke.

  • @jechichi you're kidding, right? it seems u completely missed the point of the show

  • @jechichi Poor planning troll is a poor planner.

  • @jechichi Gee, your giving a good name to Americans. Its supposed to be bad, and if your stupid enough not to realise that from the start, please, do everyone a favor and kill yourself.

  • @jechichi Americans don't typically say 'rubbish.' Nice try, though. Anyway, nothing is better than Dagless doing a front flip to escape an exploding ambulance while holding a newborn infant. This show really is the best thing that ever happened.

  • Sonofabitch.

  • "women like you are the reason this chicken's late in the first place."

  • lmfao "I prefer a bear"

  • ".....or bean bag chair, if that's how you choose to live your life."

".....along with interviews from myself and my publisher Dean Learner, a man who was there during it's creation and didn't die or offend me."

  • 12:38

  • my friend and i LOVED this show. its so outrageous. i think i will spend my a.m watching these over

  • I just love the first scene with the temp, how only his head's showing at the bottom of the screen~

  • we ere watching horror movies in basic school in social studies lessons, because they didn´t know what to teach us, so I REALLY NEEDED to see this to cure my traumas :-)!!!

  • Maggots.

  • omg the temp is so awesome and attractive >.<

  • The Garth Marenghi Foundation.

  • I love how they can just whip guns out of nowhere! EVERY tv drama should do that!

  • Hahaha!!! "Suck on that!"

  • UH-HUH, BYEEE.

  • We might have to kill him....

    Slow acknowledging nod

    BRILLIANT

  • Rapeface at 04:01 :D

  • "uh-huh? bye" lol

  • God-damn sonofabitch....

  • Am I crying?

  • 8:30-8:45, I must've rewatched that 20 times. His delivery is amazing!

  • what a good show

  • he shot the gun. literally.

  • Hey, Stephen Merchant

  • MOSS!!!!!

  • 18:23 to 19:00 INTENSE. AHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHH HAAAAAA AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Rebeliance"

    Love it.

  • "Uh Huh, Bye" lmao

  • "women like you are the reason this chicken is late in the first place!" haha!

i also like that weird guys face at 4:01

  • "If you go to a Punch and Judy show and you're only watching the wires, you're a freak"

More subtle humour, considering Punch and Judy is a hand-puppet show. xD

  • What do you reckon? Android?

  • Are you part of the crew who makes this show or something?

  • GODDAMN SONABITCH

  • "Sonuva bitch."

  • oh god his face at 04:01

  • "...or beanbag... if that's how you choose to live your life."

  • "Everything but the kitchen sink..." "Oh my God kitchen sink and all!" I love this episode.

  • You know nothing of the crunch...

  • 3:39 the guy on the left made me laugh

  • Jim running from the stapler was the funniest thing ever!

    "AAARGHHH! NO!"

  • Fuck you, Carl lol

  • hahah steve merchant "son of a bitch"

  • They need to make more !!!!

  • i think they are making more videos

  • Watching Garth Marenghi's Darkplace makes me feel muscular and compact ... like corned beef.

    Thanks for posting this :D

  • That's a shame, I was looking forward to the chicken.

    or, of course...

    Teleke-what?

    and, finally...

    Uh-huh, bye.

  • I'd prefer a beer!

  • 11:22 is absolutely priceless! Dean with the shotgun..classic

  • WHERE has this show been all my life??

I wish we had funny shows like this in america, they just started showing mighty boosh, but it's so heavily edited it's not even worth it...

  • why do they edit it? british references?

  • they have to edit about 7 minutes out for commercials, they edit all swear words, and all brit/music references.

I was watching Party on american television, they edited out the bouncy bouncy crimp and I was pissed.

  • So he's kinda like a male version of Anne Rice? Or one of those lemon writers come to life?

  • How many episodes were made?

  • 4 I think. Im sure if you put it in wikipedia you can find out.

  • Wrongo. 6.

  • According to Marenghi himself, 64 teleplays for 'Darkplace' were written, 50 of which were made into episodes. Channel 4 only showed six of them.

  • @SultanChase yeaah but on DVD extras it's explained that most of the Darkplace film reels sunk in the Thames when police raded Learner's house and he had to get rid of some unspecified things quickly....

  • @lkrnpk Indeed. Such a tragedy that humanity lost those treasured reels of celluloid wonder.

  • You know the absolute best part of watching this is getting to once again bear witness to the old friendly and reassuring red, blue, green, yellow and purple channel 4 logo - oh how i miss you my love R.I.P.

  • Son of a bitch lol

  • <3333

  • As long as it's not a screwdriver...

  • yes i'd prefer a beer

  • 18:08 so funny lol :D

  • I agree, my fav bit.

  • Do anyone Americans watch this?

  • Yes but only recently since the rights to air the episodes have been bought by Cartoon Network's affiliate Adult Swim. The first time I saw the show was maybe a year ago at about 4 in the morning. We're slowly finding hilarious British comedy that was written in the 90's.

  • Thats brilliant stuff mate, very glad you're liking it :) Spread the word sir.

  • Oh, I know I'm definitely loving it. Look Around You as well.

  • whats this ending things with sir business?! thats our thing sir! haha the boosh is great as well

  • I came in from the pub last Friday night and found this on the cartoon network!

  • Yes. My hat's off to the Brits. The comedies from across the pond are amazing, and Darkplace is probably the funniest thing I've ever seen, right up there with the Peep Show.

  • Steve Merchant!

  • has anyone ever tried to explain what Darkplace is to a friend? it's so difficult.

Theres a bunch of actors acting about being actors. :S

If I could explain it better a lot more people would watch it. Darkplace is absolute class.

  • Women like YOU are the reason this chicken is late in the first place.

  • Ok, hahaha what would those plates really do to him if the got him? Are they trying to be serious

  • maggots? maggots ! maggots maggots maggots.................maggots

  • 22:11 best bit

  • this episode reminds me of the time i was washing a car and i whistled a tune that was in the charts at the time and then when i switched on the radio a tune that ws pretty similiar but not exactly the same came on.

the car was a morris marina (sunset red) 1.4 litre engine, nothing special but it started first time, EVERYTIME.

  • lol random

  • yes random, nothing more just part of the delicate waltz we all take when we move our way through life and space and time.

one day your washing a car and having funny little almost coincidences the next your standing up from the toilet wondering if you can see blood in your faeces.

  • lol jeeeeez! Although at least you're observing...

  • (Picks up phone) Uh-huh. Bye! (puts phone down) Good gravy! A small bunch of objects are flying of their own accord in E Wing. (Picks up phone, then puts it down immediately) And apparently more objects are heading this way! (looks at phone, stuttering) Good...bye.

    LOLLL

  • lol thats my fave part 2!!

  • Probably the best tv show ever.

  • oh richard ayoadoe. he makes me laugh so much in this.

  • in the begingin when garth has the film reel is that a poster of a manby him or a real man?..cuz its realllly freaking me out

  • Love it! It's like a piss take of Carrie xx

  • oh my god,

    Richard Ayoade wins infinitely :3

  • I've got this on dvd and it's brilliant.

  • same here... immense purchase!

  • I just ordered it, I've watched the first two on here, I'll watch the rest on DVD :D Looking forward to it. It's hilarious.

  • MERCHANNNT

  • this is to funny, i love it

  • 8:30 is my favorite

  • haha! the knife and fork stay on her tray! lol!

  • 'sonofabitch'

  • the funniest is garth's crying at the end. I only wish it went on longer. Same in episode 3 after he's killed skipper the eyechild! This series should be continued as there were at least 40 episodes made!

  • did they really make 40 episodes?! how do you know that? loll

  • 6 tv episodes were made

  • yeahh i know that..

i forgot about the documentary bit saying about making '40 episodes'.

    Save Darkplace!

  • this show is the shit

its just a shame that they only got six episodes.

  • I love the TV equivalent of a student exchange, what with Stephen Merchant on this and Marenghi (Holness) being the IT guy on The Office.

I love the way Merchant says SOB and ducks under the doorway.

  • "No Liz...No"

  • When was this on telly?

  • "Women like you are the reason the chicken is late in the first place."

Thanks a lot for posting this, I've seen them all loads of times but they still crack me up every time.

  • "Maggots, maggots, maggots, maggots, maggots, maggots, maggots"

  • guy probably came down, got lost, went mad, ate his hands, and died

  • "I'd rather have a beer"

  • This show is so funny

  • "I felt muscular and compact - like corned beef." LOL!
