i just got the game from the store cuz a friend adviced me to buy it. I am trying to figure out how this crap shit works.. Im already getting bored and it was a waste of money damnit... never ever will i buy a game fromt his company again

I could play X btf, but eventually got bored, could not get into X3 reunion and Terran conflict, but they gave me Albion Prelude free as part of X superbox and I started it up as an Argon Peacemaker and I've had fun just playing shit up like in space sims of days past.

A game being hard by not teaching its players how to play is not "challenging." That's fake difficulty, like Resident Evil 4's tank controls or Super Mario Kart's "Rubber Band" racing. This game NEEDS a player-guiding tutorial. EVE is just as complex as this game, give or take, and its tutorial made me feel much more comfortable exploring the universe within 2 hours of starting my character. Hell, the only reason why I'm able to do anything at all in x3 is because of its similarity to EVE.

Think this game would be much more fun, and actually sell more if they just simplified the controls instead of muddling them up in their own little setup. I can see these controls working in the 90's because of the fact no one really knew which direction to go - but for a newerly released game - it's just bad management. It has such a limited audience and refuses to go the route of getting more customers. It's more difficult then friggin EvE.

@Airforce9999 Making it easier is going to without a doubt limit you in the things you can do in the game. The reason X3 was so complicated was because you could do ANTHING. Hell you could make a starship and custom loadout everything about it. If they simplify that, they are taking options away. I hope they keep the same difficulty ramp.

It's definitely not slow, even if it does feel that way. Most of the quests I've taken were actually very fast-paced or intense. Imagine trying to get from Uranus to Pluto within 6 minutes while being attacked by pirates.

After dying 40 times I am starting to like this game and I no longer want to crush the disc. I just built 3 stations (solar factory, farm, and Weed factory!) and I now have a small fleet of transports and a fighter contingent made up o a centaur, rapier, and 2 busters!

It takes a while to learn but once you get past the stage where you wanna uninstall the game out of pure frustration, you'll see just how good it is.

Huge universe, total freedom to do whatever you want, scripted "quests" with awesome rewards & fully voiced. You can even build your very own factories and have a massive fleet of trade ships trading for you - Or if you're more into combat, a fleet of fighters, destroyers, carriers etc. Totally up to you how you wanna play it.

@BDKsoft Meh, the only times I got frustrated was because I'd sometimes forget to dock and save after completing a mission or claiming a bunch of ships and gett myself blown up.That's the one huge problem I have with beginning combat in the game. Enemies tend to launch missiles that OHK M3 and weaker ships, and they like to do it at ridiculous times, like while less than a KM away from you, or when the pilot IS IN THE MIDDLE OF BAILING. I'm still pissed off about that one.

it's really not all that complicated. you can make it so, and you will once you play for a bit. give it a few days and you'll get the swing of things. only 19 bucks on steam :)

This game is AMAZING!!! it separates the men from the boys. This game is the most complex game available so it has quite the learning curve. Once learned the rewards are endless. I too struggled at first but I persevered and now appreciate this game for there is nothing else like it!

i really miss good space sims ;/ x3 CAN be fun but it is very daunting at first you do get the hang of it BUT it is overly eclectic. If they had simplified it a bit more it would have been great, i also miss cockpits...

@Robfoxman First I gathered money by doing fight missions, a station has a fight mission when a red crosshair appears next to it, you accept the mission by communicating with the right person in the station (sellect station, press c and sellect the person with a crosshair next to him)... continued

@Robfoxman ...Once you have enough money buy a freighter and install the trader software mk 3 (PTNI equipmentdock). In its command window select trade and then sector trade, scale plate green and nyana's hideout are two good places. After some time the trader should have reached lvl 8 (click on the trader and sellect info the lvl is in the () at the top), you can now sellect universal trade instead of sector.

@FractaI I believe by default j will increase the speed but you cant really steer or shoot or it breaks it off, makes travelling less time consuming. if that's what you are talking about.

The BOOST EXTENSION is an aceleration add-on to the spacecraft. It does not raise maximum speed but allow you to attain it in a matter of seconds...

You cannot make a video tutorial that covers all aspects on the game unless you have a serious amount of patience and time to do so.

Have you tried parking it in a shipyard, then transfer yourself into another ship you own inside the shipyard?

The thing is, you cannot sell a ship you're currently in.

Give that a go and see if that helps :)

Yeah, you can dock quite a few ships in one shipyard. The thing is that you cannot be in the ship you wish to sell inside a shipyard.

Not a problem!

With the appropriate software installed in the ship you're flying you can also send a ship you're not flying into a shipyard and sell it remotely. It's great because it saves a hell of a lot of time.

The game is very interesting and great fun once you get a fleet or start a corperation, the only thing I don't like is that you can't conquer sectors.

If I remember correctly there is a mod called Conquest that you can find on the main webpage that allows races to go to war, make peace and conquer sectors.

Can't remember if you can announce that you're your own race, but allying yourself with a race reaps in cash rewards, and more Living Space for your race.

It also makes living in space very, very interesting. It also allows races to once and for all disband Pirate sectors and make it their own.

Get some abandoned ships, bring them back in a safe sector with no pirates, and start trading.

I agree, they should give us at least a million credits at the beginning of a game so that we can get decently started.

X3:TC is a vast improvement in terms of the user interface. I tried X2 when it first released and couldn't deal with the archaic control scheme. X2 didn't use a GUI of any sort, it was all keyboard shortcuts. Freelancer proved that a mouse driven interface was the way to go for modern space-sims. An all keyboard driven game is unwieldy and so nineties :P

I'm playing X3:TC now and loving it. Thank you EgoSoft for going the GUI route and joining the rest of us in the 21st century :)

if u wanna build a space station first u nead to have reputation for the race that u are buying the station..the boron are the most easy race to make reputation..after u have money hire a TL class(argon mammoth for argon and orca for boron)..after that tell the ship to dock at shipyard and after she docks buy the station and then just go somewhere and comm with the captaion and say "drop my freght here"..thats all:)

I hate the frakking game - no tutorial, no help what so ever. For first time players like myself, it is the worst game in history. They give you a ship, and thats it. They offer basic (and I mean basic) flight skills but that's all - no help on how to trade, get from system to system, etc.

I would avoid buying the game at all costs.
