Don't confuse the current election violence with the Civil War. The civil war ended 9 years ago. Liberia for the most part is relatively peaceful. People are not fighting each other in the countryside at the moment. The only serious violence other than the election is land disputes which are being solved by the national and regional courts.
well Liberia was awash with weapons(AK-47s) from 1989-2003. Supposedly it was awash with so much weapons that ECOMOG destroyed like 10,000 surrendered guns in 1995 during the end of the First liberian war and many of the weapons were not surrendered. Many of the weapons were sold abroad going to South America(Columbia, Brazilian favella gangs etc.) and to its neighbours. Many were kept.
So don't be surprised when the opposition party brings out its guns again.
