I used to be a sax player in jr and breath control and breathign excersises was something i had to learn when it came to play the sax. i was able to hold my breath on one breath for 2:38. that was the longest i couldve hold it to the very end. by doing that, I was able to hold a note for almost 2.15. It took almost a year to perfect that. It's not an easy task. now, i cant even hold my breat for 10 seconds. ha ha ha.
@superbungabunga After about 15 metres (45-50 ft) your lungs compress to 1/3rd of their original size. This decrease in surface area in the lungs lowers the overall density of the body and therefore causes neutral or negative bouyancy. Technically, any deeper than about 15-20 metres, the human body will sink.
I was only able to hold my breath for 1 minute and 57 seconds without preparing my lungs properly, could have gone a bit longer longer but I sure as hell wouldn't have been able to concentrate on any hunting ^^
Well worth noting that I was also just sitting still, not struggling to get down to the sea bed and I'm at present in pretty bad physical shape.
But still, it seems relatively easy to reach this fellows level considering what I can acchieve as a couch potato, say 2-3 months of training.
@pistolholder In the show, the narrator says that he will dive a few more times that afternoon and hopefully catch enough fish for his family's dinner. He's not going to be catching those little fish you saw swimming around; he's going to aim for the bigger ones.
@Djghost454 That is physiologically, and mathematically impossibly! Try that on someone who doesn't know biology, anatomy, or physiology. I sware I love how people can be anything and do anything on the internet! I could have possibly believed you had you not blatantly lied and said 532 feet. Get real!
@855h0le I swear I did. But the narrator said clearly that he can stand up to 5 minutes, but this time he didn't need to show off because he got what he came for.
Is the narrator John Hurt ?Good actor.
