Well, I just want to say this is EVIL! Walt Disney is a terrible man! He actually included the animal sounds, but why? Hm, you think cuz it's cute and funny? Well guess what? Those sound represent sexual intercourse noises. Listen again. And why would Walt include a word as scary as cannibals in a childrens show? Well the terrible man will never tell. The piece of crap he is.
@SmilyLove101: You got to put the time period in perspective though. Back then, kids were considered to be miniature adults, which not only explains why old programs have innuendos for mature viewers, but also explains many countries' use of child labor as a cheap resource until recent years spoke differently & imposed child safety laws (which don't stop places like China from relying on it, though).
Did anybody notice that Mickey mouse performes the moonwalk in this video (at approx. 0:33), long long before it was "invented" later on by other singers?
By the way, the voice is very strange, I personally prefer this version watch?v=AdeMmZgt3Z4
@RunikaMori: Walt a throaty voice due to his smoking problem. In original airings, the voice was raspier & was Walt's true voice in falsetto, but in later years, the sound team edited Walt's audio to sound similar to the people who voiced the mouse once Walt could no longer perform it adequately.
But in this short, with the remaking of it, I wouldn't be surprised to find that this redo either involved Walt's replacement for Mickey, Jimmy MacDonald, or that it actually involved Mrs. Disney, Lillian Banks herself, since she was on board the Disney projects ever since she & Walt decided to wed, with older brother Roy Disney Sr. serving as the finanicial backer, since Walt's trouble with money was that he poured all of it into each project, leaving him often broke at the end.
@plateshutoverlock: Because they were voice-testing, after all. Walt was used to squeaking for his & his wife's mice alter egos, so when Steamboat Willie's commercial success as the first "talkie" cartoon caused him to proceed with making his shorts all full of sound, Walt was working with various voices in attempts to make his lead mice distinguishable.
Sounds like it's being played on a hand-cranked projector. The soundtrack is like a record on a turntable being turned round by hand with the power off.
I had heard somewhere along the way that Walt's wife sang this song for this particular cartoon, but not sure...but I will agree that Mickey is the best looking mouse in the world!
wow all the comments are from 2 - 3 years ago haha :) I LOVE THE OLD MICKEY :)

So then in all those early shorts he actually sounded like this? Are there actual copies lying around without the edited audio?

Was this actually Disney doing Mickey's voice in this cartoon? Some sources say it's Carl Stalling.
ESLinstructor1 9 months ago
@ESLinstructor1 Actually you're right! Walt did the original version of this song, but this audio replaced it later on :)
LlamaSims2010 8 months ago
His face animations and voice is goofy but this is still amazing.
KanesTheNameALT 1 year ago
This song was written by Carl Stalling, who would best be known for Warner Bros. cartoons.

Also, this one sounds like the sound is being played off of a seperate record while the other had an optical sound track.

I wonder why they made two versions of this cartoon?
(the second one his voice sounds different and the background is a curtain)

Thats the best looking Mickey Mouse I've ever seen!
I wish I knew who animated that scene? Who ever it was is a genius!

I believe it was Ub Iwerks. He and Walt Disney worked a lot together on many early cartoons.
