The Big Clue is at 3:04-3:15. See the Cat? See the Cradle? (Cat’s Cradle by Vonnegut) Here he is the seeker, the poor traveler, blown in on the wind, searching for the ideal love/destiny. His own conscious efforts and knowledge are almost futile, any impatience or assumption are stumblingblocks to his path, making him miss a potentially perfect encounter/destiny by mere moments. Still, he follows with all his heart, wherever or however it leads.
The "Big Clue" is at 3:07-3:15. See the cat? See the cradle? (Cat's Cradle by Vonnegut) This is about seeking the perfect destiny, the pure mystery of love. He is the poor traveler/seeker, blown in on the wind, his own conscious efforts and knowledge almost futile, perhaps just missing that perfect encounter by a few moments -- but always seeking, always moving on after it by any means possible, wherever it leads.
Ok Now! I grew up on Led Zeppelin and that band was always bad ass but I just really love Robert Plant's solo work as well. This song is just totally awesome beyond magical proportions. It has such a laid back feel to it. Whenever I put this song on, I can just lose myself in the feel of this song. One of the best songs to ever be in my opinion but Damn, this is a superb song here! :-)
It's about his cock. His big, dense, road worn, desensitized, wooden cock. I think there's a girl in there somewhere, too. Music videos are the lowest form of art. They don't have to be, but they are.
I discovered this song when I was 16, during a foggy dawn before the sun woke up the city around... it's been eight years ago and still it's one of my all time favs for my sleepless night... I'm one of those lucky young dudes who can still catch the poetry and the love of those better years where music was music and not crappy plastic stuff for discomen...! THANKS ROBERT!
Covered a lot of ground in my '69 Oldsmobile listening to this song and s few others like it. I wish now that I still had that car. I'd make tons of videos.
What a beautiful song.. Hes just a class-act thru n thru.. and Robbie Blunts guitar so perfectly serves the song. Again, i love how Robt Plant created The 70s Rock Gawd archtype (that so many tried to copy), and then abandoned it to evolve into an 80s Crooner.. instead of becoming a parody of himself, like so many of his peers. i count myself blessed to've seen him with Allison Krauss at Red Rocks, on the summer solstice.
The Long Hot Summer of 83 :) Magical times!! How fab my life was at this time not a care in the world !! This song is perfect on EVERY LEVEL!! LOVE IT <3
This is one of the most emotional songs i've ever heard.
Mr. Plant is one of the most charismatic personalities ever seen. I had the honour of seeing him performing live some 3 years ago, one of the greatest nights of my life.
It was like having sex in a dark room full of candlelight... this song is exactly this...
My memory of this song is....1984 m friends and I were caught by the police on Durban's Beachfront (SA), Blue Lagoon for smokin weed. We were held at Point Prison. Next morning at around 4.am I woke up to this tune playing in one of the cop's car whilst lying on the prison floor. Best tune that ever happened to me.
Does anybody know why this is called 'bg log' ??? Love the song, but can never work out why the name sounds like a massive poo! ;0) Love 2.09 especially! x
@samantha3165 Big Log is a mythical, extended metaphor for a lost love: "My love is in league with the freeway... My love is the miles and the waiting." A Big Log is common lingo of tractor trailer drivers. It is the book in which their road hours are logged, therefore the connection between the road and love and the countless hours we all log on both.
@sneller1985 NNNNNOOOOOOO, It;s the size of his penis. if you know Zeppelin, then you should know the myth of his cock size. That's where, "My love is in league with the freeway", comes from. as long as the freeway!!!! atleast that's what I heard way back when.
I must've been too young to like this song when it came out...this video seriously would put me to sleep :) Now as an adult, I do like the riffs, but the video's still a bit too slow-paced for me.
Robbie Blunt, the guitarist here, does such an amazing job... Robert Plant is a melodic genius, but Blunt brought this album it's distinctive, unforgettable sound with that clean soundin' strat... This song & the guitar solo for In The Mood , define what Plant's creativity was all about at the time....
@peasblossom1973 haha music has gone SOOO downhill. none of its good nowadays. you got people like lady gag-me, and all that crap and then there's all the losers who consider it "good music." absolutely no one makes music as good as it was 30 or 40 years ago.
@zoso31196 There are PLENTY of great musicians out there. They just aren't out in the front of the industry as they were back in the days. Record companies are much richer than they were back then, and it isn't because of good music ...
Reminds me of the good old days. It seems like a lifetime ago. I guess some of us were just lucky to be part of those days. Nothing will ever be the same. I wouldn't want to be a teen today.
unless you are as accomplished as Robert...then keep your comments to your self...RockStar doesn't come close to describing his work...and POOTRAP is right..this is awesome desert driving SHIT!!!!
@Aereolnorth not just a great song for desert driving....it's one of my faves while driving late at night...and God knows I did alot of late night driving in my 20s..lol. Funny how certain songs, to me anyways, really set a mood while driving late at night. Rush's "Ghost of a Chance" is another...Scorpions "Still Lovin You"...The Police "Walkin on the Moon"...The Doors "Riders on the Storm"...The Cult "Love"....lots of Pink Floyd tunes...many tunes I guess and we've all got our opinions.
i remember dancing to this at a party in 1987, the guy looked just like rebus, and it was the first time i have nearly been shagged with me clothes on ......a horny song.
I still listen to this in the sauna. He proved he was good on his own. Wish he would get over his drama and go back to Zep. THEY WERE GREAT! No part is as ever as great as the whole. People like him on his own, he was a part of the greatest band of all time with others. Do it for the fans already.

@vettemuziekjes-- They do now. American everything sucks ass. You know why? Because hiding behind red, white and blue colors doesn't change the fact that the heart's been ripped out of this country. There are those of us loyal to the old republic though. Have we forgotten the words "Give me liberty or give me death?" Oh how they underestimate the zeal of the broken.
