I really don't know what to say. It's incredible that these people have to live like that while we are far away from that kind of life. I wish that any of us could make at least a little help from our little place in this universe to start to change all of this. It's not only about money, it's about having good intentions and trying to help other human beings, the same humans as we all are.

Very touchy...what makes me mad/sad to watch this video is that most parents of these children do not do anything at all to provide for them, they leave them out in this violent world to defend for their own not knowing/caring about what could happen to them..Then their excuse is that they don't have enough food/money/clothing or etc for them. If you know you can barely get by in life, why bring another one into the world?......God bless the children of this kind of tragedy.

What angers me is the people who bring these children into the world and then abandon them. Why on earth would they bring an innocent life into the situation? The irony is that these kids (or their parents) would probably be much better off if they had jobs producing cheap goods. Producing cheap goods beats picking through trash any day of the week. Hats off to UNICEF for good intentions, but a Nike factory would probably do these people more good in the long run.

Too much of the world is run from executive offices rather than by people. For the combined wealth of individuals past, present and future global poverty can become a thing of the past but of course most are aware of this but find it easier to ignore and live in their Air conned cars and buildings...

okay now before i write this i just want to say i think UNICEF is great but there is one flaw that i think not to many people know about...
UNICEF is against adoption because it believe that it robs kids of their heritage.
to be honest i would rather have a kid live in a good home and live a life where they dont die at 11 then keep there heritage.
but i dont think what UNICEF is doing is wrong but that one thing shocked me.
and i thought others should know

The irony is that these kids (or their parents) would probably be much better off if they had jobs producing cheap goods. Producing cheap goods beats picking through trash any day of the week. Hats off to UNICEF for good intentions, but a Nike factory would probably do these people more good in the long run.

@chrisplus23 - not that u guys ever explain when asked about this, but i'll give u a go anyway - it looks like u think that some machine-slave reality will somehow liberate people from toil. when it's wrong applications of technology that cause all the problems - it kinda started with alchemy and mining = war economy and hoarding. how would the machine system work? it still needs people to be engineers, technicians, programmers, and all the other subjects the robots would be programmed with.

out of myriad options, one can either live for themselves or vow to live for others. it's ironic how people in the latter category, who generally put others before themselves, wind up fulfilled and content while those who adhere to more selfish motives keep searching for that comfort. These scenes are haunting but familiar. I often wonder how to better address education and basic welfare but keep those who are being assisted from becoming the luxury-slurping consumers who watch these videos.

This is happening right now, in this second, while you are reading this. On the same planet ,an I feel ashamed. ashamed that people come with their fuckin stuff that nobody needs (for example the ipad) while there are people who don't even have the most simple things you do need , for example food, clean water, shoes... and all theses rich people piss me off , because instead of donating some money to them , they throw away their old mac to buy an ipad.

@TheNimroddable there are people who dont try or think like you say but there are so many who are trying to make a difference and they do even if they dont think so these kids and people who have this life are thinking were so rich and they try so much harder than us to get the things they need and they think its unfair because it is and life is brutal but it all happens for a reason and death is only the bridge to the afterlife as painful as it may be to walk the bridge we all walk it one day.

It unfortunate and shameful that there have been countless touching/ disturbing videos such as this in last 30/40 years but nothing major has yet to be done about poverty of anykind! Too much of the world is run from executive offices rather than by people. For the combined wealth of individuals past, present and future global poverty can become a thing of the past but of course most are aware of this but find it easier to ignore and live in their Air conned cars and buildings...
