The strong points of the film are mainly in depicting the personal aspects of Katsir's family. It does not represent Jews or Israelis as a whole. Naturally, younger generations are more remote from the trauma of the Holocaust and it's easier for them to treat Germany the way it is today.
The film doesn't belong in a political site like Journeyman, where it is deemed to be tagged as "propaganda". Everything suggests it was intended for the Israeli public, perhaps except the provocative title.
In my opinion, this documentary fits the Israeli audience only . It does a rather poor job conveying the bad emotions that many Israelis, esp the older ones, still feel about anything German. Usually theses emotions are evoked mostly by the German language, that we associate with documentaries of about the Holocaust. The senior Yekkes (German Jews) are exceptional in this aspect because German was their language and they culture too. Katsir's movie assumes that the viewer is familar with this.

The strong points of the film are mainly in depicting the personal aspects of Katsir's family. It does not represent Jews or Israelis as a whole. Naturally, younger generations are more remote from the trauma of the Holocaust and it's easier for them to treat Germany the way it is today.
The film doesn't belong in a political site like Journeyman, where it is deemed to be tagged as "propaganda". Everything suggests it was intended for the Israeli public, perhaps except the provocative title.

In my opinion, this documentary fits the Israeli audience only . It does a rather poor job conveying the bad emotions that many Israelis, esp the older ones, still feel about anything German. Usually theses emotions are evoked mostly by the German language, that we associate with documentaries of about the Holocaust. The senior Yekkes (German Jews) are exceptional in this aspect because German was their language and they culture too. Katsir's movie assumes that the viewer is familar with this.

Even the title of this documentary short is ridiculous. Hitler had little to do with what made up pre-WWII Berlin. Frederick II, known as Frederick the Great, was the king of Prussia from 1740 to 1786 and made Berlin worthy of being a capital city, culturally, politically and militarily. He built up the city in a style that combined baroque, rococo and neo-classical styles concentrated along the wide boulevards. Hitler destroyed Berlin. This film maker is an idiot.

We'll go in at anytime (we still think it's rightfully ours, at least the original city (Jaffa, now a mere suburb of Tel Aviv) was/ still is an Arab town despite complete ethnic cleansing in 1948. What matters however, is that zionist residents of the city don't want us there, and are unwelcoming to Palestinians, (unless you spoke perfect Hebrew and simply blended in, which many Palestinians do just fine).

I never heard of a single Euro-looking person being stopped, interrogated, and had his ethnicity questioned for being in Israel, this only happens to Palestinians who clearly look Arab.
