  • First time playing ff7 when I was really young and my english was even more horrible... I leveled up till I could beat snake by beating it up... I didnt understand chocobo thing at all.

  • Just equip the "chocobo lure" materia on any empty slot on any character in your active party and walk on the chocobo tracks near the farm until a random battle yields a chocobo (of which the music will sound different). Give the chocobo a gyshal greens and fight off the extra enemies. Do not attack the chocobo. If the chocobo is the last thing left, you can ride it across the swamp. The snake is a great way to get limit breaks powered up... provided you're prepared to face it.

  • @ulillillia yes.. I know that now but I did not know that back then it was ages ago it was the idea of my message. :P

  • I love when people spend half the video messing around with options.

  • I just love playing through the game while having an early Beta-Technique. It just needs a bit correct timing of Limits + Poison of course. You can beat like every fight with that spell casted on enemies. Every boss fight is getting so ridiculous :D

  • Lol i did this by using aerith ONLY i was low level, and everytime I killed Tifa and Cloud lol XD, then i just used poison and killed him with physical attacks XD

  • boring video

  • It had 63 HP and died. It was like "I give up. You win."

  • I just got the the golden saucer. is there any lv up places around there? i need to get my characters hp up.

  • It's been so long since I last played this that I don't really know. You're between my third and fourth leveling grounds. Consider backtracking to Costa Del Sol and fighting the beach blugs around the beaches (if I remember that is). You can also advance the story a little more and get to the fourth leveling ground, one of the best. Another alternative is, once you get the buggy, use the Junon alarm method (trigger the alarm in upper Junon - caution: these will be tough fights).

  • @ulillillia leave the gold saucer, there is a desert. good luck..

  • This is so easy, just have everyone go back row and cast bio + magic attacks with restore - all. Make sure you have Barrett use "Mindblow" to take out his mana supply so he can't use Beta.

  • people die too easy when they just rush into the game not just trying to get some levels unless they really good at low level playthoughs.FINAL FANTASY ISNT JUST ABOUT RUSHING in the game, just bcause their will be enemies that will kick their asses over and over again.

  • ... and you have to keep in mind those that prefer to powerlevel to the extreme.

  • @ulillillia !! it didn't use beta! i twice got to the part he had 130and a bit hp and one of my guys were "tailed" out and he destroyed us all with 1 attack (beta), now i'm trying to get a chocobo, but it's impossible to catch!

  • The people who are giving the author of this video shit for powerleveling are total dbags. Seriously, half the fun in some of the old rpg's was playing around w/the game - power leveling, under leveling, no materia games, and running through at least once for 100%.

  • Powerleveling is my thing. All 4 1/2 plays of this game were pretty much nothing but powerleveling plays. I'm like this on all RPGs, Disgaea especially (yep, I didn't advance the story in Disgaea 1 until I was consistently doing over 20 million damage. Disgaea 2 will be similar, though probably more around 50 million.

  • @ulillillia

love ff7 <3 sooo many playthroughs....

sry this is quite off topic: got some good tips for lvling in disgaea afternoon of darkness?.... because i seem to be really sucky at lvling efficiently xD also gaining mana is soo slow o_o

  • Things will be slow at first in Disgaea. As you gain access to ever more powerful items, especially rank 39 items or even rank 40 items, and accumulate specialists, things will get much better. It's partly how I regained interest in Disgaea 2 and is how I got nearly 400 hours within 3 months. Disgaea 1 still holds the record - 625 hours within that same time frame (Hour of Darkness). I can't help you with any specifics in "Afternoon of Darkness", only general stuff.

  • @ulillillia

i c..... well i got some rank 0-10 items even.... and got around the place where that angel girl gets her accessory stolen or something..... its not that far in the game i think... but ive been lvling in the earlier chapters, stacking mobs for higher lvls to gain more exp and been doing a bunch of item worlds for stats.....

  • Wow i find it sad that you waisted so much time grinding that early. You really dont need to stop and grind for any part of the game, its easy enough. Grinding and being over-leveled makes it no challange and quite boring

  • To you, yes. To me, the more extreme the powerleveling, the better. I reach level 99 on disk 1 and despite having played FF7 4 1/2 times, I have yet to go beyond disk 1 without someone on level 99.

  • @ulillillia You should probably consiter playing more than one game, its much more enjoyable

  • I've played FF7 4 1/2 times. You'd think that that's enough.

  • @ulillillia I bet that took forever. everyone on lvl 99 on disk one. right now im on 42 right after i got cid from rocket town.

  • If I rushed the game to the point where you first get the Tiny Bronco (this is still disk 1), I could have level 99 on disk 1 in as little as 35 hours, about 40. It's also lame as very little interaction is required as well so you can almost watch TV (on another TV), YouTube videos, or do your homework while doing it.

  • LOL level 30. Fail.

  • I'm an extreme powerleveler so that level wouldn't be anything special to me.

  • OR you could've crossed that swamp with chocobo and level-up the time you used on that later :*)

  • I did it at lvl 10 mine objective was to get beta

  • god so boring lol

  • Elemental+Fire in the character you want to learn betas armor. All 3 Chars With Sadness and back row. Have 1 Loco weed. Give the person you want to learn beta a Talisman. Poison the Midgar Zolom, Then have someone use a Loco Weed on the party while another character uses a Hyper.

The Hyper should be thrown at the Midgar Zolom lowering its accuracy. Use Beta on the Zolom and win.

  • Why didn't u use the limits?? I was so anguished god dangit! I'm so mad now. Vote Quimby

  • You say you didn't use a gameshark but YOUR LEVEL 30!!!!!!!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE SO EARLY!? You can't tell me you trained, i trained there for hours and only got to level 20!

  • I just wish they make a remake but, the corporation said it will take 10 years T_T

  • brings back soooo many amazing memories..... :)

  • the snakes best hit is probly about 3.000

  • I never used Bio. If I had I'd have known about its deadly affect and how you could kill this MONSTER earlier on with patience and not a single limit break(due to that they activate the monsters special) I'd have killed this beast in my youth.

  • I forgot to get an Enemy Skill Materia at Shinra's Headquarters and didn't bother to come back to the Midgar area until I was level 50/46/45 (still on Disc 1 xD) and when I tried to get Beta from the Zolom, it was hard because beating it was too easy! I had to throw grenades at it just to get it to use Beta. D;

  • I WAS HAPPY WHEN WHENI DEFEATED THIS THEN MY POWER CUT OFF

  • I killed it at lvl 14. I just poisoned it and let everybody but Aerith die. Her limitbreaks are enough to heal you through the battle. No need to waste any MP.

  • hard maybe but not impossible

  • i just snuck around it today lol i had to rtry 3 times though (i'm doing another playthrough my first was terrible in my opinion since i did it at younge age)

  • LV L30?? you're so gay. You can easily kill it at lvl 15. Remember sadness and back row are your friends

  • I didn't think of doing that at the time I recorded this. I have mentions of sadness (25% reduction) and backrow (50% reduction for a total of 62.5%) being used to cut damage down to around 180 to 200.

  • You are way over lvl'd dude

  • Quicker way: Give someone the Fire Ring (forgot when you get it, it's pretty early though) and either have lots of pheonix downs or a life spell, as well as an enemy skill materia on the person with the Fire Ring. Throw a graviball or 2 at it and pummel it with limits until it casts Beta, then revive your party and cast beta back at it.

  • This is much earlier, when you're supposed to use a chocobo to cross the marsh. You don't have fire rings, only "elemental" materia at best. The best way, at this early point, is to simply poison the snake and wait for it to die. Just keep everyone healed though, casting cure any time someone takes a hit.

  • @yoshiothehedgehog The fire ring only becomes available in Costa del Sol. And, after that, you can only return to the swamp when you get the Boogy.

  • @OnyonKnight Odd, I remember getting it earlier than that. Then again, it's been a few years.

  • @OnyonKnight I am really certain about this information. You can use Elemental and Fire though.

  • I can't help but notice you have 16 hours of gameplay put into that clock already, so you really can't call it killing the snake "early." I beat the thing 3 times in a row with a lvl range of 17. All you gotta do is use Barret's Mindblow which wipes out all his MP in one shot and keeps him from using that uber kill move, and keep reviving your guys with phoenix downs and all cures.

  • Early in terms of the story. Storywise, I haven't yet visited the cave on the other side of the marsh.

  • @berserkchip or you could use magic hammer which takes 100mp away

  • @Zack1825 can u learn that skill so soon? Otherwise there are some items for mp absorb

  • @LockeLeon yeah..i forgot what the heck i was fightin but then again i didnt even attenpt to take out the midgar zolom until everyone had at least 1500 hp

  • @Roydges: Yeah, whats the point in running after he's used it?

  • oh yeah and after the zolom dont forget to steal from the ball and chain swingers in the mithril mine, you get a grand glove for tifa!

  • you should have stolen the hard edge sword from the soldier 3rd class in the shinra building on the hojo floor, and in the same place stolen the carbon bangle from the robots with the spinning blades!

  • its my first time playing 7, im at level 26 at coral prison atm...anyone tell me if i need to keep training or am i strong enough for this point

  • @bpjfawesome100 click the uploaders name and look at his page for leveling up areas. By his count you should be lvl 99 by now lol

  • been killing alot of people to get to lvl 3 limit break before lvl 30 lol....still on 1st disc here?

  • Spend a lot of time defeating enemies in the first area if you want level 3 limits before level 30. You may actually get it by level 20 that way. For the second limit in the group, this snake is a quick and early way to do it - just poison it, let the hits come to fill the limits (don't use them). Get a bunch of weaker enemies next and use the limits in full and repeat the process. Make use of fury status (use hypers to get it) to hasten the process.

  • @ulillillia cudda robbed a hardedge from shinra building for cloud and go back to kalm on the browny land where u fight super sweepers or something and steal atomic scissors 4 barret...good vid though btw

  • when learning emeny skill is there something you have do do like defend your self to learn it cuase i benn getting hit with ton of magic on disc two and my guys are not learning it can someone please help me on this thank you

  • just have enemy skill materia equipped then win the battle once it has been learned, search for a list of enemy skills and what enemies use them. theres trine which you only get 3 chances to learn and pandoras box 1 chance. also manipulate materia helps.

  • yeah i have learned alot with the manipulate i am going to have to start over to learn everything i messed up and played threw the game wrong i have beat seporith already but i did not have all the wright stuff

  • You really only need revival, healing (HP and status effects), and attacking skills to defeat Sephiroth at the bare minimum. I mostly just use limits. Even at level 99, Sephiroth is almost effortless, easier than almost every other boss.

  • i know an easier way ot defeating him when you have all level 3 limit breaks, just use them. you hsd tons of time on your hand ot get all those before even leaving mythrl cave

  • I officially hate this thing lol, didnt beat it till 3rd disk honestly forgot all about it

  • u suck :|

  • He forgot to let him use TRINE, you get one of the more powerful mimic skills in this one!!! :D let him use it and RUN!

  • @roydges You mean beta?

  • all you do is put him to sleep and destroy him with magic. your strategy sucks.

  • i totally agree, this was slow...and there are much better ways to defeat him early, and not at lvl 30's with all limits, mindblow it so it cant use beta, cure and destroy it with limit breaks when you first get to the swamp instead of using a chocobo, if you want the beta there and now, fire+elemental materia in armor

  • You can't put it to sleep at such an early stage of this game. You need to get to Junon to buy the Seal Materia.

  • Yeh im at like 600-700 hp for everyone in my party and Ive actually done about a hour of grindy training (7 hours into the game), this is my 1st playthrough, am i doing something wrong? or does it just require alot of grinding?

  • You don't have to grind much at all in this game. I just do it because it's what I'm used to. I reach level 99 while still on disk 1. I even reached level 99 on FF12 in under 50 hours (this video has yet to be processed). Also, you don't have to defeat this snake - you can use the chocobo farm to get by. Even then, you can defeat the powerful midgar zolom with game-starting stats.

  • ummmm this dosent really help me cause i was only lvl 18 at that point in the game

  • Even at level 7, provided you can get here at that low of a level, it's still very doable. Cast bio as shown to poison it (heal the enemy if it doesn't get pointed by 500 damage in), but have everyone in the back row and with "sadness" status and cast cure to heal everyone. Don't attack the snake - let poison defeat it instead.

  • I have killed it at lvl 18...using mintblow limit

Zolom can't use BETA it's easy XD

  • Mintblow? I don't recognize that limit. Given that I haven't seen the limits of Aeris beyond level 1, I have a feeling it's for Aeris (unless you've got a typo and meant to say Mindblow, of which I think was one of Barret's limits).

  • Mintblow? Get real, that does not exist.

  • Barret's Mindblow*

  • Mindblow retard its one of Barrets limit breaks

  • Every one knows that... No need to point out the obvious, I mean it IS on his first level of limit breaks..

  • you retard you said it didnt exist read your own fucking comment

  • Let me copy and paste my own comment.

"Mintblow? Get real, that does not exist."

I am sorry to tell you PurpleHillSeeker, but sadly it DOES NOT exist. I thought this was common knowledge.

  • Defeats the purpose of fighting Zolom in the first place

  • wierd at this level it's super strong and hard to kill yet, you get such little exp and gill.....

  • Yeah, the exp and gil are disappointing. I would think it should be worth around 900 exp (using "headhunter" and enemies with a similar amount of power as a guide). It's actually fairly easy to defeat - poison it and wait, casting cure when needed (using sadness and the backrow to help cut damage down to something that is tolerable enough for a level 7 character to easily handle).

  • Since you don't keep Aeris, I avoid using her, unless forced upon. I also haven't seen her limits beyond level 1, even though I know how to get them (defeat 80 enemies and use the limit 8 times).

  • I actually think Aeris' limit breaks are very effective such as her level 3 limit break, Planet protector keeps allies invincible for a short amount of time. Or her level 2 limit break2 Fury Brand, which completely fills up the limit gauge of her other 2 party members. Pretty useful to me in a tight situation.

  • You could just use Barret's mind blast to drain its mana.

  • A bether way to do it is to use the enemy skill materia tactic. Then you can defeat it when you first get there.

  • Do it without Red. :L

  • You can defeat it much more early.

Just get the Aqualunge skill and cast it 2 or 3 times, before that equip Cloud with fire ring and let him heal only.

It will kick the one char out who casts 3 times aqualunge but then it has like 800 hp left, after it casts beta you can finish it off, very easy ;)

  • That's a riskier method. By poisoning the snake then waiting for poison to defeat it, healing when a hit is received, it's far less risky.

  • you can't get that til you defeat jenova life at the end of disk one.. so thats pointless.

  • No, you can get Aqualung as soon as you get the buggie at the Gold Saucer. There's a creature that's kinda of like FFX's Chimeras in the desert surrounding the GS (I don't think they're called Chimeras in this game) but they cast Aqualung quite frequently.

  • ah right.

you can get magic breath near there as well.. it think its neare costa del sol

  • Really? I thought the first enemy you came across that had it were the Stilvas (red versions of the Materia Keeper) in Gaia's Cliff?

  • Nah, it's these little fish things, you can fight them by the shore once you hit costa del sol

  • Don't they give you Big Guard?

  • Nope, it's magic breath, i remember cos i forgot to level up once, and they just owned my party with it :(

  • That´s right you can get it in the desert with the buggie, this "harpy" will cast aqualunge, but you have to finish this mob fast because it deals a lot of damage ;)

  • Safely beat him? You're ridiculously overleveled. You're supposed to be in the mid teens when you get here. Cloud is at 30. I came back at around level 26 -- toward the end of Disc 1.

  • I was after explaining the method. At the end of disk 1, I was level 99, if that gives a hint. It's doable in just 40 hours' game play time, for a fast run.

  • wow this brings back old times when i was 4 im 11 now and do u know where they might sell this game still i wanna PLAY IT NOOOW

  • I'd get it off Ebay, but FF7 may be a bit pricy. I've heard of these stores for the PSP and the related where it's available, but this is completely unfamiliar territory.

  • i have like ff1 ff2 ff7 ff8 ff9 ff10 ff10-2 ff12 but my ff7 broke years ago and i want to play it again do u think mcvans video games has it

  • For Ebay, check both the seller rating (99% is a good threshold you can go with if the seller has 500 as the score - 98% minimum) and the description. Read the description very carefully and take note of shipping. I sometimes see a game like FF7 ship for $20 which $7 is much more reasonable (even though that's still a bit high). Also, consider the cost of the item as well as part of shipping, and tax. This should help you with Ebay. Don't leave the seller feedback until a day of having it.

  • lol no only way u cud probs get it is off ebay

  • if u own a ps3 you can buy it off of the psn for 10$ they also have ff8 as well

  • um whats PsN play station network? is that like the first play station? or like on the ps3 like kind of like a mini game

  • yes psn is the playstation network and if u own a ps3 and you have access to it (if your logged on and have an account) you can buy the whole game for 10$. If you do make sure you make an internal memory card cuz if you dont and you play through u cant save it :P

  • u played ff7 wen u wer 4 ??

    lol

  • If you're referring to me, you got your data mixed up. I've played FF7 4 times, but that started in 2002. I began playing video games, however, when I was 4.

  • no,theres sumhere tat says tat he played ff7 wen he was 4

or mayb im getting crazy ==

  • Okay, answer this: was FF7 available in 1988? Even FF4 wasn't available then and probably wasn't even in development either (I don't think the SNES was in development either). You must either be referring to someone else, or you've got your data mixed up.

  • dude,not u i said at the above statement.

and yea im refering to sum1 else ==

    jz found the guy

  • this snake is very good, because you learn Beta from it, into your Enemy Skill. very good skill to learn before u go to City of the Ancients and end cd1.

  • omg THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

im soo STUPID! im at level 18 and i have more than 600 HP... but i accidently saved in the field where the snake is, so im stuck there. if i escape the snake, it'll come after me again. i'll try to beat it. i hope this works. THANKS AGAIN!

  • As a tip that I didn't think about beforehand where it's possible to defeat this thing at the game's starting level (6 or 7) - swap to the back row (to half the damage) and add the "sadness" status effect (use a tranquilizer for this). Combined, this cuts the 430 damage it does to just 160, just 3/8 of what it would do. If you have protect, it'll cut it even further (I think it's 50% meaning 80 damage instead of 160). If it works, move a little, save, reset, reload, move, and repeat....

  • Actually, i tried defeating the Midgar Zolom like what you said in the description, but it didnt work. but then i thought of the same plan : move a little, save, reset, reload, move, and repeat.... but looks like i got away without eaving saving and resetting! but thanks anyway!

  • garland the great actually did it with some lvl 9 so... not so hard as u think?:P

  • you coward!! in that pittyful way you can't learn ability BETA which is very useful!!!

  • I have a video where I do get the beta enemy skill, though it took nearly 2 hours to finally get the snake to use it.... I also encountered a glitch where the battle is completed with the snake still there, also with a video (encountered while I was recording for the attempt to get beta).

  • Oh that aint a glitch, Midgar Zolom stays there for the whole game :D

  • Comment removed

  • Well I wouldn't call it early.. It's possible to kill Zolom with characters 10 lvls lower than yours. And some luck, of course, but still, I wouldn't call lvl 30 "early".

  • By early, I meant storywise. I'm almost always on a very high level throughout the game. Heh, I reach level 99 while still on disk 1! I could do it in 40 hours on a fast run!

  • Haha yeah, me too.! High lvls on disc one is fun. Sorry for mistaking you though, got it now!

  • Does killing it early change the dialogue of the scene where you find the Zolom's head stuck onto that tree? A friend told me Cloud says something to the effect of, "Sephiroth's showing off."

  • I doubt it. I haven't done it that way in a long time so I don't really know.

  • lol I ran through the marsh on the left side and midgar zolom didn't even see me.^^

  • Ah, and all my characters have Carbon Bangles, (Stolen from an enemy on the 67th floor of the Shinra building, can't remember what they're called...) so, they take about 200 damage a shot. Easy.

  • Just did this at level 14--Put Cloud, Tifa, and Barret in the back row, used bio, and just spammed cure for a little while.

  • it seems like u do the same thing i do lol i train really early in the game so it will be easy later like when i was leaving shinra HQ my party was at level 21 and had just about all the limit breaks so i beat the midgar zolom at level 25 but this only comes from experience since i beat the game like 5 times years ago i play it on my ps3 now

  • Okay, reach level 99 while still on disk 1. You only need at least one character like this.

  • its possible but rest of game wouldnt be close to challenging or fun and i got patience but not that much lol

  • It does take 3 days to reach... but you can almost watch TV while doing it since it requires so little interaction....

  • all of my chars. lifes are at like 700 and thay all lv 17 and 16.......can u send me a save data?

  • Short of sending you the memory card itself, I can't. I'm not doing this either.

  • dud e thanks

  • how did you get to that state in so little time?

  • Do you mean level? See my leveling grounds videos for details. By this point, I've reached my first 3, of 6. Leveling ground 6 is still on disk 1 and I reach level 99 by then....

  • thanks, I will try it =)

  • There's actually 8 leveling grounds. The first 6 are posted. 7 and 8 aren't because you can't level up past 99 (this is one element I hate about FF). Leveling ground 7 is the forest around Mideel, but requires the Highwind in order to access it. Leveling ground 8 is the place where I get the fastest gil (which is also posted).

  • this fight was super easy, i used cloud (lv 14), barret (lv 13), and aerith (lv 12), and he kicked out both cloud and barret (after mindblow) leaving only aerith (my healer) behind...luckily i posioned him in the beginning and all i had to do was stay alive

  • which level are you man? i trid to beat the midgar zolom just 3 or 4 hours ago, but i just had abot 550 livePoints!

  • It's called "hit points", or "HP". At the time, I forgot about the use of the back row (halving damage) and sadness (cutting damage by 25%). This turns the 430 damage it would do into about 160 instead making even critical hits first thing easily manageable.

  • whatever, i play german version, so don't sit on the details please -.-

but still, which level are you? im on 2 but with the much substances i wear i have 600 HP

  • I think I was around 23 or 24 at the time.

  • i suck im past this part and only maximum 900hp :( any tips?

  • Get either fire rings (location unknown) or have elemental+fire in the armor. The latter case cuts damage to 700 instead. In addition, use the back row and use tranquilizers to get sadness active (which cuts down on the damage. Always have someone at the ready for a cure spell - use it whenever the snake strikes (which should do about 150 damage).

  • Yeah this thing is a breeze and can be bested twice in ten minutes with only Bio and cure ( I reccommend On Red XIII) if you want to pass the swamp without having to mess about with Chocobo lure.

  • Ahhh the quotations bug me XP

  • I beat Midgar Zolom at around I believe level 16-17. You just have to use Mindblow on it and it will never use beta.

  • Actually, use bio to poison it and wait (cure it if it takes more than 500 damage). Add sadness and put everyone in the back row. With this set up, you can defeat it at level 7, provided you get here on that level....

  • You can also get past the marsh without a chocobo and without fighting the snake either. But that's no fun ;)

  • well done

  • is this the pc or the ps? what did u use to record this. great quallity!

  • It's the PS1. I use a TV tuner to record my actions with. If you want one, there's a few details to consider - PM me for the details.

  • Oops...the skill that helped me was Big Guard not White Wind XD

  • I was level 23 when i first beat the zolom....i used the enemy skill white wind to lower the damage of beta. I had fire ring too (negates beta).

  • Mierda, como me gusta este juego xD !!!

  • not worth the time...

  • i killed midar zolom at level 15 with like 640 hp with elemental materia tied to a fire so beta only does 600 dmg i killed it with cloud alone cause after it did beta my others died it was pretty cool

  • Melhor jogo da historia

  • man,that guy is easy!how do u ppl have trouble w/ him!

  • I managed to run right across once, without him catching me. It only happened once though. It's the national sport of Kalm.

  • Others have done this too. I'm used to battles and can take on almost anything. But for those who do get caught, you can follow this tactic to make quick work of that snake without too much trouble (though, have everyone in the back row instead, something I always forget about).

  • hahahaha guess im one of the few that crossed the marshes without a chocobo ...hahaha

and i guess this dudez technique was a good way to avoid the beta attack....sorta cheap tho

  • I had a hard time getting the snake to use beta, but I finally did.

  • Cheers for the reply but i mean do ya know what it is, it kinda looks like volcano erupting :D

  • Beta is the dogs balls, i used it more than any other attack in the game, does anyone know what beta is though?

  • Beta is a fire-elemental attack that costs 20 MP and it automatically targets every single enemy.

  • Have you ever tried beating the game with your characters at the lowest level possible? The game goes alot quicker, and you can spend more time enjoying the story instead of doing all that bulking up.

  • I'm not that type.
