God is offended by receiving Him on "dirty" hands(ONLY priest can touch Him) in the Holy Eucharist!
Only accepted by Heaven form of receiving living Heart of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist of the Catholic Church is into our mouth and on our both knees!
Thank you Steve for another beautiful testament on the web to God's love and presence with His people. May your work be a cause of much thanksgiving, praise and a reminder of the necessity for worshipping our dear Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. May God bless you and your continued work on the web. Your family member in Chirst.
PAGAN? How about the fulfillment of the Old Testament! Lamb of God, Bread from heaven, Table of Showbread, Bread of the Presence/Face, Memorial Sacrifices, Tabernacle, Holy of Holies, and the list goes on...
Maybe we're wrong but without a doubt our belief is rooted in Scripture and God's actions with His people in the Old Testament!
I was just pointing out that it doesn't say that all those who did not believe his words left him. It says, "...many of his disiples went back and walked no more with him." I see three sets.
Those who believed and stayed.
Those who did not believe and left. and
Those who did not believe and stayed.
Am I making any sense?
The devil is a liar. Judas is lying too because if he does not believe he should have left but by staying he is lying by his actions. Jesus didn't ....
The others were non believers who were believers but not any more. They did not lie and pretend to believe but Judas was a chosen one, one of the twelve, the closest to our blessed Lord.
He was in a position of trust, our Blessed Lord opened his heart to him and what did he choose to do? Turn his heal against his Lord.
the devil entered him and he betrayed our Lord. He is unique!
But the author (primary or secondary) doesn't say that all those who didn't believe left him and no longer followered him. It says "many". What has been your experience in life? Doesn't every Catholic who stops believing leave the Church? What about politcians who stop believing or who never believed in the first place? Do they say "I am not being honest with myself and others" and leave? or do people stick around for other reasons? What makes 2000 years ago any different?
St John inspired by the Holy Spirit, and an eyewitness. The scene: a "great multitute" following our Lord (Jn6:2) because of the healings, then the miracle of the multiplication of bread and fishes. before this miracle Philip said :"But what are these among so many? (Jn6:9) A multitute of people (many) followed. The Doctrine of the Eucharist and "Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard; and who can hear it?" (Jn 6:60). If many left therefore only a few stayed.
There are many factors which affect Faith. The apostles asked our Lord "increase our faith" we too need to ask our Lord "Lord increase our Faith" the father with the possessed son said " I believe, help my unbelief".Just like the parable of the sower and the seed and the different environments it was placed in. (Mt13) so to in the church, different people different reasons, different outcomes. Warm, Cold and Lukewarm, habit, fear of hell, conscience, routine, political convenience etc.
We do not know of any who did not believe and stayed ?do you? we certainly know that their were other other disciples (including 2 pharisees) and several holy women, who stayed. these like the holy Apostles did not reject the doctrine on the Eucharist.
A distinction needs to be made between understanding and believing. It does not say that anyone understood the Eucharist but they believed, they accepted this Holy Doctrine.
as far as we know Judas was the devil because he betrayed him!
Christ commanded the Apostle "Do this as a memorial of me" " I will be with you allways even till the end of the World"
We follow Christ Every Word. He said it, I believe it! I don't understand it But I Believe! It is an Awesome Mystery, Like the Incarnation. the Immaculate Conception! The Most Holy Trinity, The Holy Spirit ! the Forgiveness of Sins, Annointing of the sick.
What an Awesome God we have and his Beautiful BRIDE the CHURCH!
After this, many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him.
67 (6-68) Then Jesus said to the twelve: Will you also go away?
those who could not believe, refused to accept the doctrine which Jesus taught on the Eucharist and protested were the first protestants. Who then were the Pagans and who were the believers? Jesus ask all of us: "Will you also go away"?
Our God is so loving he gave us a free will, we even have the free will to reject Him and choose a lie!
"as far as we know Judas was the devil because he betrayed him!"
I can see where you are coming from, but Judas was not the devil. The devil is a spirit (fallen angel). For Jesus to say "a devil" he must be referring to more than one (fallen angels). A devil and the devil is not the same. Judas was a man therefore he wasn't a fallen angel. Jesus was pointing out something and John was alluding to it when he quotes Jesus' words about one ot them being A devil. Everyone always jumps ....
to the fact that Judas later betrays Jesus. But I am not so sure St John was alluding to this or something else that is in relation to this particular story. Can I ask you a question. You compare those who left Jesus as protestants. There are Catholics today, in Church with you every Sunday, who do not believe. Has this always been the case? Have there are always been believers in Church who really did not believe but pretended they did? And if yes, how far back?
I firmly believe Jesus is God and knew and still knows the future. People naturally think of St John Chap 13 when they read this line. But being a devil doesn't mean one day you will be possessed by a devil. I think St John was referring to something by using these words but something that was related to the story at hand.
John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that did not believe and who he was that would betray him.
a direct reference to Judas "who he was that would betray him" Again this was to show that Jesus is God because he could read their hearts!
A very critical question. Authentic and solid Catechesis is at the cruxr. I haven't done a survey on who doesn't believe outright and still go to church. It is possible. In the history of the Church there have been instances where priests have doubted and the Lord has allowed a Eucharistic Miracles to occur to protect the Church during the protestant attacks. In fact some protestants have witnessed these miracles and were converted. See Saint Paul 1 Cor 11:27-29 and 10:16,
And some of our politcians? I have more respect for those who refuse to believe and leave and attack. Cause they are acting outwardly what they believe inwardly. But there are those within who do not believe, hate, but pretend to believe, and all the while secretly attack. Like spies in a foreign country. These people are not outwardly honest. Jesus refered to them in a parable as weeds his enemy has planted. Am I making sense?
usually those who do not believe abstain from the Eucharist and prayer (St. Ignatius 90AD) leave and can attack the church. If there is weak faith it is because of poor catechesis, this shows up in lack of reverence, immodest dress, talking and taking a cassual approach, chatting and gossiping in the church as though Jesus our Lord and God is not there!
The Didache (means "teaching") or "The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles" was written in Syria between 70 A.D. and 110 A.D.
"Let no one eat and drink of your Eucharist but those baptized in the name of the Lord; to this, too the saying of the Lord is applicable: 'Do not give to dogs what is sacred'". -Ch. 9:5
so clearly there were those who did not take the Eucharist seriously.
Psalm 60 3 To thee have I cried from the ends of the earth: when my heart was in anguish, thou hast exalted me on a rock. Thou hast conducted me; 4 For thou hast been my hope; a tower of strength against the face of the enemy. 5 In thy tabernacle I shall dwell for ever.
A clear reference to the Crucified Christ in the Tabernacle.
Good points made in this video I had not known about, especially about the scroll. Thank you.

Read Saint Johns Gospel Chapter 6 "all of it"
All His diciples who did not believe in this doctrine left,
Our Blessed Lord let them go.
Even today those who do not accept this reallity, left the Church. they are free to go.

All left? I thought there was some who stayed like Judas?

66 (6-67) After this, many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him.
67 (6-68) Then Jesus said to the twelve: Will you also go away?
68 (6-69) And Simon Peter answered him: Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.
69 (6-70) And we have believed and have known that thou art the Christ, the Son of God.
70 (6-71) Jesus answered them: Have not I chosen you twelve? And one of you is a devil.

Part 1.
Judas as a devil (Not the devil, sorry my mistake) cross reference to the account in John 13
2 And when supper was done (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him),
Jesus could see the future because He is God!

I am of the same mind.
Yes a great deal of sense very clear now.
Yes SPIES Infiltrators teaching things, contrary things. The HIrelings the false shepherds!
Like some Catholics (including politicians and church shepherds) who support ABORTION OBAMINATION !
What are we to do. Be peaceful as the dove but as cunning like a fox. I have seen a few things which are very disappointing and hurt!
PRAY, HOPE and DON'T WORRY,
Be brave, show Mercy Love and pray for them and ourselves!

Usually. But that is the key word. But not always. Was it the same way back in the days of St John and the early Church? Many left but not all?

Eucharistic adoration, go visit our Lord, spend some time with Him, open your heart to him and listen to Him.
Recieve the blessing from Jesus Himself, the Eucharist at Benediction.
Receive His forgiveness in Confession.
Receive His precious Body and Blood !
