  • so do I

  • love this song ♥

  • I use to listen music like Rock or Metal, but please, let me say this, THIS IS MUSIC.

  • that drum riff in the beginning makes me laugh because its so.....feel good i guess

  • i dont know what you guys are talking about 'no good bands anymore' listen to some metal, soooo many great bands, creative lyrics, SMART lyrics, insane talent, great vocals. if you like that kind of music lol.

wintersun, ensiferum, amon amarth, tyr, northland, fintroll, alestorm.

that should get you started lol.

  • @goodnightChesty1775 all good but korpiklaani should have been an the top

  • Why can't we have bands like America these days? Fleetwood Mac? Led Zepplin? Today's groups are not even close.

  • the good ol music and the good ol days gave way to this political correctness, feelings are important bullshit that plagues our country today, fuk these people who follow the leader and dont have a brain to think for themselves, fuk POP culture. I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK THE WAY IT WAS. And music that spoke to the mind, not some tinee bopper shit. Thanks for the post

  • its still here you hear lil waynes new shit how to love>>>!! hahaha

  • this is what 2011 and I am a total lover.

grabs me a 12 String. how I love it.

but I keep on thinkin bout it.....

    long live ROCK

  • I dedicated this song to (Shirley) Jean Selzer in August of 1979. We were up in Santa Maria, California and I was moving on after a summer in San Luis Obispo. Jean was a beautiful 26 year old blond from Chrisney, Indiana (I was 32). THIS song was perfect, not kinda perfect, not sorta perfect but PERFECT for our relationship. It never worked out and I've not seen Jean for a long long time now but this song takes my heart & soul back to a terrific lady from long long ago, whom I still love.

  • @tpvasgar Well thanks honey, It doesn'tmake up for that thing you tried to do to my butt, I do appeciate your thought though.

  • i love this song ......never dies

  • classic never runs out of style

  • This song kicks sooo much ass!!! - Mark

  • my generation music sucks but this is by far the best song ive ever heard. i grew up with grateful dead and ccr and csny from my mom and this shits the best music ever

  • Man, that's some George Harrison-esque slide work right there. Lovely tune.

  • Not 100% true,for I have just recently heard this and I think its great.Also I'm only 27.

  • it's great because it came out when it did. If it came out today nobody would listen to it.

  • took me an hour to find this song but i did... worth it!!!

  • sounds like weird al yankovic.

  • good to see all the young people like me enjoying this stuff

  • rip dan peek

  • I really wish my generation could make music that could even come close to this. :(

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

  • my cat just came out of the closet with a rabbit, he was growling

  • Love this song, but gotta say, America has one of the worst grammar in their lyrics (Rap excluded).

  • @ramonesrocket2russia ....this what you took away from the song! Very anal

  • 24 and loving it... why we dont have this kind of music in this days

  • @meko33 artistry opression

  • Song reminds me of my dad

  • I AM 19!!! AND I KNOW THIS IS REAL MUSIC!!!!! WHY WASN'T I BORN WHEN THIS MUSIC WAS AROUND!!!

  • Esto sí que es música.

  • Todo un clasico...

  • I could hear this song 100 times a day and still never get tired of it!

  • great song

  • One word, TIMELESS!!!

  • Classic rock at it's best!!

  • music with balls

  • old songs are sometimes still the best!

  • For some odd reason I always get the beginning of "SGH" mixed up w/the beginning to "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison.

  • i love the guitar in this

    wut a great song!

u dont hear very many songs like this these days

  • Like this song a lot. =)

  • That's so cool, jrpallett. It's great to have such memories associated with a song you love...just turn on the CD and you're right back on that road!

  • what year did this song come out? 1978?

  • I believe that it was a little later. 1974. I remember because my wife and I were taking a vacation to the Grand Canyon after a long winter working in Vail. This song came on the radio as we were driving down I-25 near Wagon Mound New Mexico in an incredible summer thunder storm. Should have turned off the radio, but the music was too good!

  • gooooooooddddddd sonnnnggggg

  • Ditto kirbycol3! Timeless song!

  • Could listen to this song all day..... beautiful tune! Thanks!

  • I was born in 1986, and believe me, the only radio station I can stand is the "oldies" one in my town. The music from my generation, or I should say, the music that makes it to the FM, is for the most part, mass produced garbage.

  • Yeah, I couldn't agree more. I can't stand all the "music" of my generation....I prefer the "oldies". I guess that "oldies but goodies" thing is true!

  • this song was on the sopranos when bobby bacala sr. killed that guy

  • lol yea that's why I looked this song up

  • MIDTOWN's cover sounds so much like the original. too bad they broke up :\

saporta was so much better back then

  • I agree!

Did you download it off thier Purevolume?Oh, they didn't break up...it's just a really really long break. I think Gabe's said in interviews it's not the end for Midtown

  • yup

hmm that really is a long break.

i think gabe will be too busy to worry about midtown.

  • this music is like a fine wine ageless

  • I hate when my teenage daughter refers to 70's and 80's music as "oldies" God, I feel so old

  • 70s and 80s rule

  • 80s does not

  • f*cking awesome!

then you had bands like America, now all you got is Britney and Rihanna who have no voice!

damn, where did all the good music go?

  • ya i agree

all the good music is gone

i dont even listen to the radio anymore

well jack fm plays sum good music like this

but all the other stations dont

  • awesome tune!

  • this is real music

    not shit like brittney spears

  • i'am with you pal!

  • hellz to the yes

  • Agree man- britney sings shitty stuff

  • @GuitarBabe3 Or Lady the tranny Gaga

  • @ajaxgotpwnd ya her too

  • @GuitarBabe3 There is junk music in every decade. Today we have Britney Spears, in 1975 we had ABBA. I fail to see the difference.

  • @Youcanonacanon ya thats true

itll be interesting to see what the next music trend will be

  • @Youcanonacanon yes but what good music is there today?

  • i approve of the song but dont approve of the lack of pictures

  • Thank you for your input. I agree with what you say.

  • Yes, but now you can focus on the actual music and not the visuals.

  • what a glorious riff.

  • GOD DAMN THIS SONG IS SHHWAWESOME!!!!

  • I absolutely positively love this song!

  • remember this? real melodies and bands that could play real instruments? whoa.

  • I Agree 100%

  • you've couldve thrown some pics in.

  • nicely done :) I love this song. I like Declan Galbraith's version a lot too :)

  • for dean xoxoxox

  • Great songz!

  • such a beautiful songs...the more u go back through time the more beautiful the songs were

  • You said it these are great

  • Sister golden hair so bright.Reminds me how much I love blonds.

  • MITICI

    ...AWESONE

  • this is the best song america did ...it kicks ass makes me think of a old high school girl friend an the fun times we had to this song

  • Grandissimi!!!!

  • there´s also a good version of this song in the mandy lane-movie (can`t anybody put it on youtube???) but i prefer this1 cuz it reminds me of my childhood (in the 90s lol my parents always listened to oldie radiostations ^^)

  • I love this song, I have America's Greatest Hits on Tape and CD, my dad loves this stuff

  • After my Mom died my brother gave me a CD and the footnote for this song says for my sister --- God it means so much to me --- every time I hear this my eyes well up for my brother and my Mom

  • my eyes are welling up after reading this comment..beautiful song isn't it.

  • i am a golden hair sister...41 and still hot.looking for the guy to sing me this song LOL where are they all?

  • We're all married!

  • i love this song!!!!so much!!

  • Since I was a kid I always loved this song....I love that guitar riff at the beginning of the song reminds me of George Harrison

  • you're right, the riffs from..what was it..oh yeah George Harrison's My Sweet Lord influenced this song

  • When I was younger I thought it was Harrison..and later found out George Martin produced it...hmmm

  • I wasn't talking about who produced it. I'm talking about the RIFFS in this song. The riffs in Sister Golden Hair were inspired by the riffs in George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord."

  • I wasn't arguing with you. This song sounds very very Harrison. I always wondered if he was somehow involved with this song anonymously. Seeing that George Martin produced it..and the Harrison sound..always wondered. The acoustic chord structure...the slide guitar..all very Harrison-esque.

  • ah i see sometimes its hard to tell what someone was trying to say in a written comment but yeah man it sure does sound Harrison-esque.

  • When i was little i always got this and My sweet lord mixed

    there both great songs

  • Can't We just apreciate the beautiful music of Amreica and not fight over who has a good army or not, It's depressing listening to people bicker over pages on this site when there is such good music playing in the background.

  • This is a depressing song. Every time they say Sunday, I think of work the next day.

  • Well after 42 years of working I'm now retired and Sunday evenings to me are just like Friday evenings or the evening you start a two week vacation.

Look what you have to look forward to!!!!! I love retirement!

  • America was a 70s band and that's all you can say about them.

  • you can tell its election time in america

  • haha i like how the name of the band turned into some big political debate. who cares. it's a band. get over yourselves

  • Some people will never learn, I'm afraid. You're one of those who has. I commend you.

  • great song 5/5

  • It really isnt though. And I'm Canadian!

  • Great song AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im just a kid but i love all kids of songs from 60s, 70s and 80s. this has to be one of them

  • me too

  • Does anyone else think this is a song about being in love with a girl you can never have?

  • No, it's about being in a relationship that has somehow progressed to marriage but the fella doesn't want to go through with it. He wants to keep the girl but can't make the big commitment.

That's really hard to miss - the lyrics are not oblique.

  • not me, I like burnettes

  • the 70,S PRETTY LOVE SONG ! WOW THESE TIMES WILL NEVER COME AGAIN ! GLAD I WAS THERE! NOW YOU ALL GOT THIS WRAP ! CRAP !

  • just tell ya....rap is spelled r-a-p. I agree with what you said though....this music is so much better....and this is coming from a teenager, too

  • i'm 13 and i love this song along with many others from the 60's, 70's and 80's. I listen to these song and think of how it was back then. I wish my generation knew real music.

  • lol i was singing to the ending when it cut i was like what the hell lol

  • america is key in my eyes

  • This is one of my all-time favorite songs. I can listen to it a million times over.

  • bida bida na sa pag vivideoke nito mga 'tol...

  • mostly a tribute to the Beach Boy's

decent harmonies,Check out anything on PetSounds By the Boy's

  • very touching song. thnak you for this interpretation. maybe the voice is a little bit to high. does anyone know if there's a version sung by Johnny Cash?

  • A way to sing it is to match the effort in stead of trying to match the notes. Sing naturally. Ignore me if it doesn't apply.

  • Great song, love the acoustic.

  • I`d like to dedicate this song to Adriene from Dirt Cheap in St Charles Mo. You`re a sweetheart and I miss you........You`ll always be my golden girl.....

  • music is created from the soul....Every song this Band created was from and originated from the members themselves....for you the listening audience.....not for popularity....just for you1!!

  • lets not forget whether this band is from this country or not....like the beatles....they made songs that made us feel good...we sang with them...and danced with them....and still do ...even today

  • Just heard this song on The Sopranos.

  • yeah thats where i heard it first too

  • :)

i think I'll play it when I'm driving.

  • hahah nooooooooooooo i dont wanna die

  • lol, like the chair would save him

  • for the record, whether arguing across national boundaries (between mutual top trading partners, no less) or in discussing the quality of music, the use of superlatives is never* accurate and, thus, renders an argument impotent regardless of any actual, perceived or desired merit it may or may not originally have carried.

*yes, i get the irony. it works in this case.

  • We can't forget that Canada gave us Brian Adams and still haven't apologized for it....

  • we also gave you pam anderson so shut up redneck or i'll crosscheck you

  • Great, a whore with Hepatitus C. Recognize a movie quote and sarcasm much, eh?

  • Face it dude. The US Government is so corrupt right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to bomb a country if there was money involved. At least with Canada, I know I'm safe.

That doesn't mean Canada's great. We have our own problems. I'm just saying that your government is headed by Bush, a man who can't make a decision without those assholes behind him. He's a fucking puppet.

  • best. song. ever.

  • Nice Nice Nice.

  • Great song. Five stars.

  • i like dis song!

  • i love this song

  • blindguardian do you have multiple personality disorder?

  • Metal? That's nothing but loud noise for dick-heads who haven't got a clue what actual music is.

  • While America definitely is what most would call "real music", a lot of metal is just as "musical" as any other genre. A lot of music theory is put into metal to make it sound the way it does (like chord structures and such). Metal is music as much as soft rock is music, even if you don't necessarily like it. :/
