at railroads like these with a red and green light, don't the red lights stay on for a long time first then the gates come? cause i lived in oakland nj and i think we stopped for a train, the red light was on for a long time before the gates came.

I think crossing gates are unecessary. the flashing red lights are enought to say "HEY THERE'S A GOSHDAMN TRAIN COMING!!!" Plus crossing gates put a halt on "weeding out" the dumb people in this world. And what do dumb people do? Mmmthats right, they piss us smarter folks off. Lets ban crossing gates on railroad crossings and thin out the numbers of those with no common sense.
