  • funny - when i blow it, it doesn't even approach the quality of your sound. yet i have exactly the same tin whistle (though mine's tuned in C, i'll be getting D later - they didn't have it in the store). i guess my breathing's wrong, gotta work on that :D

  • @tomik524 Breathing could be one problem, the other is the head of the whistle. Try tweaking the mouthpiece, it ofthen helps to improve the sound quality (you'll find instructions online)

  • Hey Fabian, Just got my tin whistle today was wondering some good some i could start out on i can play concerning hobbits pretty well really want to learn "Salty Dog" has a really good irish tune to it but you play it too fast for a Noob cheers mate from aus :)

  • @JDMfrog180 Hey! I can recommend the tutorials of RyanDunsSJ (on YouTube) to get you started, he describes playing techniques in detail and you'll be able learn your first Irish tunes from his videos. Then you could go on to Tradlessons and Tradschool on YouTube to learn tunes by ear, and of course thesession(.)org for midis and sheet music for thousands of celtic tunes. Keep it up! Cheers buddy -Fabian-

  • wow you are really good..lol i was wondering if you can send me anything it will be greatly appreciated. i just got my whistle yesterday so anything at all =) thank you

  • @tripyerb Thank you! I can send you my tab to Concerning Hobbits (LOTR). Just give me your e-mail address. Also I can recommend the channel of RyanDunsSJ, he has a great whistle tutorial online; two other great channels are tradschool and tradlessons (you'll find many more soon :)) -Fabian-

  • i tech to play fools jig from your chanel too :D

  • play a little slower? xD

  • man you are my idol :D. I learn to play hobit from your video,i will try to teach to play this too.Can you give me some tutorila for some song

  • @sofijamaric95 Hey, thanks! You could have my tab for concerning hobbits, but you're already able to play it as you told... Unfortunately I don't have any other tabs at the moment... Sheet music and midi for the Kesh Jig are on thesession(.)org, you should look search there a little, great Celtic folk music archive :) -Fabian-

  • Awesome! Wish I could play as well as you do!

  • @cynsha Thanks! You will, just keep it up and try to stay motivated :) -Fabian-

  • nice man! i was wondering if what uwere playing is like the channer for bagpipes. if so i was wonderin if u had a turtorial of some sort for this. me and my band wanted to try and cover the song salty dog and playin this on the channer would make the song.

  • @MillerTime135 Thanks! Hmm no sorry, I don't think I can help you with that. Bagpipes are not all the same also. If you can get a chanter for Ullieann pipes somewhere, the fingering should be similar to the whistle. On highland bagpipes, smallpipes... it's all different.

  • is that straight out of the box or did you tweak it ? brilliant playing btw

  • @novemberjam Hey! It was not tweaked at that time. A week ago I filled the little chamber under the windway with poster putty, the sound a little clearer now. But all in all it was a good whistle straight from the box. Thank you for your compliment!

  • HOLY CRAP!!! I just got one for school and i only know cross hot buns LOL

  • Wow!

That was pro, dude! You're really good.

    Keep the amazing work! :D

  • Pro

  • Which is better, a metal or wooden made?

  • @Lahtiman81 I prefer a metal body and either metal or plastic mouthpiece. I don't like the sound of whistles with wooden bodys (but I do love to play recorders). A wooden fipple plug is also cool because it gives the whistle a nice soft sound, but it takes much more breath to play... You'll just have to find out yourself, it's much about personal taste as well....

  • Jaj I finaly got my whistle! I have the same one ^^.

And wooow its diffecult! Sometimes the sound is verry ugly T-T How to I learn to breath? xD Or i mean, make harder and softer sound..

  • @DauwXelfje I can really recommend the tutorials by Ryan Duns for beginners. Just look for his channel RyanDunsSJ

  • @FabiantheWhistler Hihih thanks a lot! Oh and, because of you I can already play Lotr. Only one little problem. Sometimes when I play the sound turns suddenly false or verry high. And I don't even blow hard ;o

Oh and I don't have the same flute xD I have a Feadog D

  • @DauwXelfje It might be that you don't cover all the holes correctly and don't even realize, also breath pressure can always be the problem...

  • very good rendition brother :)

  • @xunnad Oh, thanks a lot! It's always nice to get positive feedback!

  • @FabiantheWhistler if i could ask as well, how long did it take you to get to that level? do you read music? play other instruments? thanks -xunnad

  • wow i play that song pretty dang good but you just put me to shame :))

  • bin beeindruckt

  • @ontaru Danke Steve, freit mi!

  • Ah, Fabian! You steal my heart with your beautiful whistling! I love it. ;) I am still working on my playing. It's frustrating at times!

  • very very cool
