Great music here...just amazed when looking at everyone there and realizing even though that sounded like an easy thing to arrange all the guys have lots of talent just knowing the parts they play to make this awesome sounding video. 5***** and thanks to HANKWILLIAMS1924 for sharing with me..:)
Hey Joyce, Well to tell ya the truth, we didn't do no arranging. Ol' Jim just started fiddlin, and we had to grab a hold and hang on...lol..I sure appreciate you visiting with us, so I guess I need to thank HANKWILLIAMS1924 myself...so I do...*ron

Eighth of January, Battle of New Orleans, Jimmy Driftwood, Johnny Horton, Greengrass, 1815, Pakenham, General Lambert, Andrew Jackson, Louisiana, British Army, ,Mississippi, Gulf of Mexico, we fired our guns, British kept a running,
We fired our guns and the British kept a running, there wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago ... you realise you won cos we dithered waiting for reinforcements.
Lonnie Donnegan does a rare version of this, have you seen it Ron?
LOL! ..Ya lost 'cause Old Hickory came south with some mountain men that could shoot through a keyhole at two hundred yards. i haven't heard the Lonnie Donnegan one, but I like his stuff, so will go find it.. thanks for looking..
LOL! Yeah, he tells us it's not electric, but we're starting to get suspicious because of all those wires and knobs, and he's always dragging around some sort of a big ol' box he claims is just a tool chest. We sure appreciate you coming by for a look...*ron
Andy Jackson beat the pants off the British at the Battle of New Orleans. Listen to the words written by Jimmy Driftwood. The refrain is "They (the British) ran through the briars and they ran though the brambles and they ran though the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go! They ran so fast the hounds couldn't catch them, on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico!"
Johnny was also a favorite of mine too, but the song was actually written by Jimmy Driftwood, who died not so long at somewhere around 100 years old...thanks for visit..
Excellent job..Brits butts and all!! Yeah I know I'm Canadian and definatly got my share of Guiness, Jamieson's,Tetleys and Glenlivet in my blood stream, but If I were alive back in 1814 who knows which team I would have swung musketfire at..lol, I have too much of a rebelious nature to have put up with any bs from any whigs or stiff necks...Never knew this song by this title before, you guys do an awesome job!!
Hey Rufus,I don't know which side you might have been on during the battle, but considering that rebelious nature, I'll bet that after the battle you'd been wanting to hook up with Jean Lafiite for some of that pirating.....thanks for watching..
"... they fired their guns and the British kept a comin down the Mississip to the Ohio..." Love this this That's how it goes, right? Haven't heard that one in many years!
the truth be known Rupert, those gators were probably not that affective at lobbing canon balls. Before the battle, Jackson had gotton word that Pakenham, and his men, had an unnature fear of really big lizzards. He used this fear turn the tide, and win a battle that would have otherwise certainly been lost..Thanks for watching Rupert...
Hi Chris, I shall pass along your wonderful comments to everyone. We are thrilled to now have viewers like you from The Netherlands...thanks for watching....*ron
Bluegrass is the root of just about all forms of American music Thanks for a great rendition of a great song. Wish I was where I could set in with you folks. I enjoy your posts tremendously.
Hey Roy, i can't tell you how much we would enjoy having you set in. We appreciate your views and comments, and hope we can find a few more you like....
Hi Jack, The date refers to the 8 th of January 1814, when the battle of New Orleans occurred. I don't know, but suppect the tune was around for years before the great writer/musian Jimmy Driftwood wrote words, and made a record in the late 50's. Some of his words were a ittle colorful for those days, so Johny Horton cleaned it up a bit, and had himself a hit.. thanks for watching...
Pretty cool. Love it.
