  • does zdp stain easily like some say? how's the rust resistance in your opinion? thx and great review

  • what would you call a "hard use knife" if not this one?

  • @silverblue73 a fixed blade

  • @paintball626 true. guess i was thinking more of the blade instead of the whole knife. looking for a decent fixed for edc.

  • @silverblue73 take a look at Cold Steel...their knives can take a beating...

  • have stretch cf just love zdp its the best only other steel close is xhp

  • is the zdp-189 hard to sharpen and how long does it takes and my friend has a brand new one he would sell me for 50 bucks do you think it is worth it thanks

  • @XXstephenwaiteXX

If you have good stones you will be fine, most use diamonds on it.

The trick is not to let it get dull, just keep touching it up and it's easy to deal with with something like a sharpmaker.

  • Good points you make.

I had the same problem with the pivot screw loosening. Had to use blue lock-tight.

Was the one you ground down originally a saber grind?

  • @BLUNTRUTH4U

No it was a FFG also, just had been reprofiled like 4 times so it was getting worn down so I had to thin it out.

  • cool i like them.

  • Hey Jim, how would you rate ZDP-189 vs S30V in your experience?

  • @Slogger4z

    I like ZDP much better.

  • How do you think it compares to the Endura ffg vg10. Used the Endura on/off for over 15 years now...love it. Thinking about getting one in zdp????

  • @fredde90210

    You will love the ZDP.

Think VG-10 that never dulls. :)

  • @jankerson1

    Hehe sounds awesome

  • Jim you should make a video of your knife collection! I know you get a lot of loaner knives, so most people are confuse including myself of which is yours. Just a thought.

  • @elongatuspiranha

I have a lot of knives....

  • @jankerson1 Lets see ALL of them in one looooooong video!

  • @elongatuspiranha

It would be more like a long video series. ROFL

  • Thanks Jim, I love these knives too!

For hard cutting I think the sabre version better than the ffg, the thicker blade and the stronger tip is a very useful sometimes, and not a lot heavier...

  • @HunterRyngo

    Thanks. :)
