Rufus Wainwright loves Leonard Cohen. This and his cover of Hallelujah are incredible. They're both so talented! I wonder if he's going to cover anything off Cohen's new album, Old Ideas, which is coming out in a couple weeks. I would love it if he did!
When you make an argument it is VERY convincing to put intensifying adverbs in caps. This is the VERY best version of Chelsea Hotel No. 2 that exists. So much EMOTION it's painful. Rufus transcends time.

Sorry Leonard, I have to disagree.......this guy is VERY overated and manages to turn everything he sings into an EMOTIONLESS dirge. Listen to his Dad if you want to hear true naked emotion.
Leonard Cohen can really write songs that just expose your soul. Rufus can sing songs in that way. This is just as good as Joan Baez' live rendition of Suzanne which I was lucky enough to experience last year.
Just saw this performance for the first time in the movie this clip came from. Thank you for posting this. The song recreates an era in New York while simultaneously having a timeless quality. I like Rufus' version here just as much as Leonard Cohen's.

Two words come to mind: VERY, EMOTIONAL. Absolute heartfelt perfection. Ripped me up to hear him sing it.

Five stars. Rufus Wainwright does an excellent job on this song; also, his version of Hallelujah is my favorite.

You're dead on about both songs. He owns them vocally and does them better than anyone.
