  • Maravilhosa . Essa mulher sempre ficara na nossa memoria. Que VOZ fantastic.

    I love ELLA .

  • Lady Ella was the Maestra of Jazz. She could put it over like no one else.

  • Que orgulho! Ella Fitzgerald cantando uma música do nosso Antônio Carlos Brasileiro... :)

  • I believe that Ella's voice is closer to God than any I have ever heard.

  • Thank you, Ella! =)

  • Ella has a special place in my heart...so versatile...very expressive...and left such a legacy of fine performances and recordings.

  • I love Ella, but i i think that gal costa' s performance is definitive.

  • Ella is wonderful !!! However, the sexiest version is by Astrud Gilberto. Mi amor !

  • A melhor cantora do mundo interpretando o melhor compositor do mundo-Tom Jobim.

  • Ella, mi negra linda... te amo, donde quiera que estés...

  • ¿Dónde más va a estar? ¡En el mismísimo Olimpo! ¡Maravillosa!

  • I can not find better than this version. This is the best. Ella is wonderful in everything she sings.

  • has anyone heard the version by johnny mathis on you tube with the paintings . it is beautiful . i think he does a better job than ella [ sorry ella . but i sti;; love you ] .

  • Ella é uma DIVA, sem dúvida. Canta como poucas. E eu que já experimentei as suas empadinhas de camarão com palmito, só posso dizer: Amo essa mulher! Raras são as que conseguem reunir talentos assim.

  • if i only had words i would say all the beautiful things...

  • Very nice arrangement & live performance! I saw Ella live in 1977 at the Berkeley Jazz Festvial, wow!

  • Long live the memories of Ella and Jobim. Two of the best of all time.

  • one of my favorite songs done by the great ella fitzgerald.......i tell you......thereis a god.

  • lclira thanks for your comment . check out the version of '' DINDI '' by johnny mathis and tell me how you like it . from redrum829

  • i first heard this song by a brazilian singer and did not understand one word of it but loved it . now i hear ella sing it in english and love this song even more

  • I'm Brazilian and I prefer Ray Gilbert lyrics. Both lyrics are much alike, but Ray put an extra felling when he wrote "Don't you know Dindi, I'd be running, searching for you like a river that can't find sea. That would be me without you my Dindi."

  • The poetic Ray Gilbert lyrics that Iclira referred to is also found on the rendition sung by El DeBarge on the album "A Twist of Jobim." The beauty of the original Portuguese, sung in a dreamy way -- in English.

~Terry, a Jobim fancier who can't speak anything but English, I'm sorry to say.

  • Ella is my fave American singer, and I hadn't heard her perform music from Jobim, my fave

composer! What a treat. Thanks for posting.

  • There is a record (cd) from her singing several Jobim songs. I believe its calles Ella sings Jobim.

  • Thank you for your kindness!

    ~Terry

  • Yes, indeed it is called" Ella Abraca Jobim", various songs are in my channel, beautiful album.

  • @privatekas By pablo

  • everytime i hear this tune, i see myself sitting on a beach, with ella on one side and sarah vaughan on the other side eating sandwiches and talking about guys. how i'd love to see them...

  • I love Ella more each day

    i do

    yes i do

  • vantava 3 scale di ottave....no dico...

RENDEMOSE CONTO DE CHI ERA ELLA!!!

  • What a honor, Ella singing Dindi... I'm proud to be brazillian

  • great how easy uses all that notes...brava..

and..sure gal costa is special too..

  • I saw the late Keter Betts on bass on this video. What a character!

  • Fantástica!

    Brava!

    Estupenda!

  • Maravilha!!!

    Garcias!

  • she is trying to wake up someone in the audience?? damn how dare they to fall asleep with the queen of jazz singing for them

  • apesar de falar portugues como eu falo ingles (cheia de fanhos)"ella" é fenomenal

    "muitio obrigado0o0"

tanquiú ou seria fênquinhú com a língua lá no úúúú(ahhh besteirol)

    Amo ella!

  • Jane Monheit should have taken some notes from ella B'fore recording this one.

  • completely agree. I just can't not smile when listening to this, it's brilliant

  • I'm a fan of Jane but I think that after hearing her for a while you don't need to listen to any new tunes of her bcs u kinda can say how she'll sound like before you've heard it. Its different with Ella, she suprises me with every song and she kinda never sings a song in the same way....

  • Adoro Ella mas Dindi é melhor com Gal Costa!

  • the greatest even according to frank. sound 17 no matter how old she got. may never be equaled even by todays gorgeous chicks. ella wow what a voice. just the best ever

  • canta p caramba!!!!

    duka!!

    :)

  • Ella's voice is a perfectly tuned instrument played with mastery. The best female singer of the XX and XXI centuries!

  • My God! She's singing wonderfully!

  • Muchas gracias,Marcela.

  • Has anyone noticed that practically every time Jobim recorded one of his songs, he changed the "changes", although not always for the better. So it is certainly permissible to make alterations, or substitutions, of the chords, if not always advisable.

And who the hell are you to tell a professional musician of this caliber what chords to play? The nerve...

  • I agree snaaptaker

  • Yeah, that chord is fucked. Don't mess with Jobim, don't add or take away from his original. The nerve... Do you really think you're gonna "improve" the song by changing the chords or jazzing it up to a point where it's no longer bossa? WTF???

  • agree with you.. damage! and voise........

  • esta cancion es maravillosa. Escuchen la version de Gal Costa¡¡¡¡.

  • Contando as histórias

    Que são de ninguém

    can also put like..:

telling stories that belong and of no-one

  • I feel disapointed from the translation. I'm not a gr8 english or portuguese speaker myself, but let me offer the following translation:

Skies, so vast are the skies

Bands of clouds that gently pass

    Where to do they go?

    Ah, I don't know, don't know.

And the wind talks in the leaves,

Telling stories that belong to no one,

    But they are mine

    And yours too Ah! Dindi.

  • I understand what you mean but if you just translate from portuguese into english the words wont fit. Remember that you have to deal with both music and lirics.

Its not a translation, but a VERSION. It´s the author's (JOBIM) VERSION for this great brazilian song.

  • As wonderful as when Laura Figy sang it!!

  • Oh Ella...as always I am mesmorized by her voice. Thanks you

  • What I'm most bothered with is the Ab against the melody's F--diffuses the quality of this style before it even gets going. 'Course it doesn't throw Ella off in the slightest. She even digs it the third time with her signature coloratura lead-in. :-D

  • Looked at the real book...haven't listened to Jobim's versions in ages...so it seems to be Smith's creation (maybe even hers). My computer speakers stink so I don't have the bass for reference, but it sounds to me like it's Bbm7 coloring an amazing "AHH" resolution into the Bbmaj7.

  • I'm not loving that chord sub he snakes around tonic at the beginning of the verse. Was that in Jobim's original? I think it's hip, but not in the first verse. Maybe on a later verse?

  • oh yes it´s wonderfull, Ella is great paul also but we can´t forget that the marvelous composition is by Tom Jobim, he was fantastic.

  • SILK!!

  • { belíssimo }

  • Wonderful, Ella is the greatest. And Paul Smith on piano!!
