Blimey...I think I probably watched this exact line up in the november on 1990...I forgot all about that dog though. It actually makes me appreciate the money my parents shelled out because I had the whole set of manta force and by the looks of things they weren't cheap...even by todays standards! Heroquest also seems a bit dear and the screaming Goblin at the end made we want to hide behind the settee! You get all these nineties ads and then Sooty seems to come on straight from the seventies!
Oh, wow. Major, major nostalgia. That Prince Eric with Sebastian in a yellow boat... I had that! I remember it now! And I was three when it came out. Oh, where is it now? It's probably been long thrown away... Oh, wow... I want to find it again...
ignore last comment of mine. EVERYTHING IN THIS VIDEO IS LEGEND. its like a suprise present in one. games, awesome cartoons, that dog puppet when puppets were everywhere until Otis the ardvark was the last (RIP puppets) oh and sooty obv! Tell me you didnt just click on this for a laugh then your mouth dropped the more that was shown
Oh, the Amstrad GX4000. If the non-release of the exciting Konix Multisystem damaged the dream of a successful British console, it died outright with the flop of Amstrad's well-meaning but doomed system.
Oh my gosh, seriously when I just saw Sooty come on after the adverts, my face was this: :O < I miss the days when I used to watch Sooty. :( Why are there no good shows for kids anymore?
That poor dog was all matted and thin, very Citv. Cbbc would never have neglected an animal that way. As for that fairy advert, talk about getting straight to the point! And was that Joanna Lumley doing the talking on it?
I watched this exact show i was 5 years old at the time you know when you have goose bumps when you see something familiar it was like the whole video pounded me with old memories thank you
"Is it a gas bill?" ha ha, that made me laugh, probably more than it did back in the day as I used to love watching this. Happy Days :-D I own a GX4000 too which my mate won in a competition at one of our (then) local game shops. The console ended up being mine some weeks later as my mate said summat like "it's a load of shit" lol. I still have it all boxed up etc, but it no longer works, it is a collectors item though so I won't part with it :-D But i'm a horder too so that adds to it :-D
The SNES wasn't available in the UK until early 1992 & Sega's Megadrive wasn't until around Christmas 1990, so maybe Amstrad thought they had a chance with their GX4000 console? Oh well...
It cuts out before Matthew tells us what is in the letter? What is it? Is it his test results, the pools results or is it his housing relocation letter?
He sent a letter to his brother, who was living in France, so as his brother could send it back to him with a French stamp - for his stamp collection.
Great clip of CITV, Scally the dog was a legend! The adverts were good too. The voice-over to the "Hero Quest" ad was done by Christopher Lee, whereas I think the "McDonalds" one was done by Keith Chegwin.
why would you have an amstrad when a 16 bit mega drive was out at the same time, there were other 8 bit systems that were out years before and were much better like nes or even master system
I saw that McDonalds ad, and thought 'how depressing, McDonalds being advertised at kids 17 years ago'... then I realised I had one of the toys when I was 4! I also remember the Honey Nut Loops advert, and pestering my mom for some cos I liked the song.. and then I hated them lol.
Yes we did get Little Mermaid a year after America thankfully cinema releases are not like this anymore. I loved watching it on the cinema and yes the mcdonalds toys were good.
This was 6 days before my 7th birthday on November 18th. I was looking forward to get even more turtle stuff. It was around this time the Turtles film came out in the UK but it came out in America in March 90.
I remember the Fairy Ultra ad! I was five then. I also remember getting the Little Mermaid toys from McDonalds! Honey Nut Loops were out then? God I'm older than I thought I was!
You have to keep on trying - every so often dormant members (i.e. who haven't logged in for more than 4 days) are pushed out, and that gives way for new members to join, as UK Nova has a member number limit. If you want to keep your UK Nova account open (when you get it), try to log in within 4 days (or better still, log in, and then don't log out).
At the moment some adverts and continuity from Channel 4 in 1985 are available to download. Every so often continuity and ads are available alongside the wide selection of UK TV programmes (from both past and present). Uploaded files are available to download for appoximately a month, but some are re-uploaded every so often.

Amstrad 464 chips used to make a console just when the snes and megadrive were already out very strange idea.
cgman2 4 years ago
The GX4000 console, what were Amstrad thinking? Did they think they could really compete with Sega and Nintendo. It wasn't even a 16 bit machine!
