Jared always said their songs don't have a set meaning or interpretation, so the listener can interpret it in their own way so it means something to THEM. This is how Glee interpreted it in their cover. No, it doesn't capture the same emotion, it sounds a bit flat compared to 30stm's original but don't call it shit because every interpretation is different.

It's not bad. I think they were able to achieve the fuller sound with the background singing that the band wanted from the summit, obviously, since there's guys in glee and just not enough made it to the summit to be heard over the girls.

They don't have the time to record demos for songs that may or may not be picked for the show (there are some exceptions though). If this is really a glee demo, and I think it is, it's the producer, Adam Anders, his brother and his wife, who record with their own voices to create the vocal arrangement.

And of course they are not as good as real recordings cause they are DEMOS.

Fair enough, Glee can cover any song they want but they do best when they're singing pop, mainstream songs. They can't do songs like Kings And Queens, SING, Livin' On A Prayer, etc. Even their cover of Paramore's The Only Exception was kind of rubbish and that's probably Paramore's softest song other than We Are Broken, Misguided Ghosts and When it Rains.
