You've got that wrong! Carl Perkins never played in Marty Robbins band. He played in Johnny Cash's band from the early 60s until the early 70s, then went out on his own with his three sons. (two of which have since passed away, Gregg and Steve Perkins). Only two of Carl's four kids are still with us, Debbie and Stan. You can see videos of Stan Perkins here on UTube. He plays rockabilly just like his Father did. Go cat go!!!!
@moviemagg you're wrong as well, the man who played in johnny cash's band was luther perkins. i'm not sure but i don't think carl played for anyone but himself.
@denisjl100 No you are the one who is wrong. After Luther Perkins died in a house fire in 1968, Carl joined Johnny Cash's band and stayed with him till the mid 70s. All you have to do is watch some of the many videos here on UTube of Johnny Cash during that period of time and you will see Carl Perkins standing off to the side playing his electric guitar. I know more about Carl Perkins then most people as I am a big fan of his for the last 35-years.
@moviemagg you are right if you look on johnny cash,s behind prison walls concert you can se carl playing guitar a true legend in his own right an original sun rockabilly hero
@moviemagg I guess Marty Robbins was lying when he introduced a guy in the band as "Carl Perkins",who looked and sang just like this guy at a concert in San Diego,Ca.I was there.Yep I'm that old.
@wilmaohman As far as I know, Carl Perkins was never a part of any band that Marty Robbins played with. Carl was a headliner and an seperate act all by himself. The only band he ever played in was for Johnny Cash from 1966 to 1975. It's possible that there was a guy playing in Marty's band that day with the same name. By the way, Im old also, as I saw Carl Perkins play with NRBQ up in Central Mass. back in 1981. I even got to shake his hand after the show.
@moviemagg The period I was speaking of was the mid 60s.Marty died back in the early 80s.I don't know how long Carl played with Marty. But this was the one and only Carl Perkins that Marty introduced as a band member in San Diego that night.Marty also let him sing 2-3 songs solo, before beginning his own performance.I was there that night otherwise I may not have known this, either.Glen Campbell also on the same bill, was late because he had also scheduled a tv appearance in LA.on the same day. .

He played in Marty's band for a number of years. When he toured with Marty,Marty would let perform a couple songs prior to Marty's appearance.
