  • Seriously, stop bashing on dietitians. I am a dietetics student and we are learning about everything that happens in the body in regards to food! We are well aware that not everyone eats a balanced diet and we don't tell people not to take vitamins. Part of our job is to figure out what the person eats and then how we can help with their deficiencies. Maybe you should learn more in depth about the field of dietetics and they are taught before you make general and rude statements.

  • I like supplements, before I use to feel depressed and shit like that. I also use to get sick a lot and scince I started using supplements and stopped eating the standard american diet and now I feel great. I also love organic food.

  • I haven't watched this video, but it cover raw sourced USDA organic vitamins as opposed to synthetic vitamins. Do a youtube search for a video by Dr.Brian Clements Natural Vs Synthetic Vitamins. I don't recommend or endorse anything at all for anything whatsoever, do your own research,make your own decisions and or consult with your professional health providers. After all my research I think Multivitamins are very beneficial if they are in the natural form just my unprofessional take

Anyone can be a nutritionist... it takes a hard earned education of 4+ years to become a dietitian. They are making broad statements and it's making me angry.   • im not supporting pharma companies but vitamin industried are a big business too. their supplements are so expensive you'll save more money on REAL food. you were not desgined to eat synthetic vitamins that will mostly get peed out anyway b/c they cant be fully absorbed.

  • Crushed granite or Azomite, the commerical variety of crushed granite, can be added to compost of organic gardens. I do it with my wheatgrass flats, which incidentally are rediculously easy to grow. I think supplements are great for the meantime, but I need to find out about edible weeds n such, both for economic and the impossibility of supplement companies to prolong the shelf life of some nutrients, it just isn't possible.

  • I think it is wise to realize that even whole food supplement companies cannot do magic and make certain nutrients have a long shelf life. for example, wheatgrass powder, sold as a probiotic ingredient is almost certainly useless compared to fresh wheatgrass juice.

  • Like the title says; WAKE UP! Big Pharma hates competition. They want ALL vitamins banned, so they can peddle their "synthetic" poisons. Unless you're rich, you can't possibly get all the nutrition from the food you eat and since 80% of the daily intake of North American's is "fast food" and processed food (even more, in many cases), you need supplements. I've been taking supplements for decades and I will continue as long as they're available and I can afford them.

  • Taking SYNTHETIC vitamins will indeed hurt the body. They will probably make you feel better though - because it gives a drug like reaction.

    But if you want to truly benefit from vitamins, they must be whole food vitamins. Natural herbs are good too.

If you eat a balanced diet, you don't need vitamins, yes, this is true, but some people eat fucking shit and wonder why they feel so sluggish and miserable.

Good writing and preperation would prevent these inconsistencies in otherwise usefull presentations. Love your concept.

The people marketing them present the general public that those supplement are cure for everything, they often call upon people to share their experience so that people believe them. For people living alone and commute long distance to work daily cooking a all balance meal is a hassle, ready and cheaply available supplement can be found in local chemist, In places like Taiwan with universal health care you can get it from DR

  • Don't forget that vitamin supplements is an INDUSTRY. Some people will do anything to sell you something. Don't buy into everything so quickly, people.

  • YES Many vitamin supplements ARE a scam! Sometimes they have "antioxidants" in them, but it is in so little an amount that it doesn't matter at all. They have branched chain amino acids, in a small amount that doesn't matter to your body.

  • Also, they have more calcium than your body can absorb at a time. Some vitamins don't actually break down in your system, and can't be absorbed by your body. Vitamin D2 and Calcium Carbonate, for example, as well as entire (cheap) pills. Furthermore, the amount of calcium we need in a day is grossly overestimated and the fact that vitamin D is converted from vitamin IN THE SUN is greatly downplayed by corporations.

  • A lot of vitamins are gimmicks. They are grossly over-priced, and they have a lot of additives...   • This video is about supplements. If you've watched their other videos you'd notice they talk mainly about whole organic foods. Supplements are meant only to boost your overall nutrition, they can't act as a shortcut because they cannot replace a healthy lifestyle. Did you know that most conventionally farmed produce isn't as nutrient rich as it was 50 years ago? Natural supplements can help deficiencies. I don't always have time to cook much fish, so I also drink fish oil just as a back up.

  • There's no such thing as a "balanced diet". And where is the proof that the target levels of various nutrients makes a difference in one's health or life expectency? That our food supply "sucks" does not validate what they advocate. Man has lived on all sorts of "unbalanced" diets and done quite well. The human body is so resilient.

    An unbalanced diet is simply a diet that lacks certain key nutrients.

    The effects of vitamin deficiency are well documented in medical science.

    A vitamin C deficiency will result in scurvy & abnormal bone formation.

    Other nutrient deficiencies are linked to acid reflux, anxiety problems, IBS, excessive weight gain, depression, etc.

    Even type 2 diabetes could be considered the result of an unbalanced diet.

It's better to follow dosages recommended by reliable, trustworthy sources like Jon Barron, Dr. Mercola, Patrick Holford etc. Look at the recommendations for Vit C at vitamincfoundation . org for a guide on Vit C intake alone.

  • Oh goodness finally someone else who realizes it. I thought they were going to bash vitamins lol. It's hard finding a truly worthy supplement, you can pop centrums all day and all they do is go in one end and out the other. I pay a good $130 a month on my regimen and im full of energy and my childhood diseases are pretty much a thing of the past. This is what works for me ---> Nutrilite Double X + Omega complex (3,6,9), + Garlic concentrate + Phytonutrients. What does everyone else take?

  • I eat garlic cloves raw and take a few supplements: calcium, and source naturals wellness formula. It has a lot of vitamin C(1,300 mg), other essential vitamins and minerals, and tons of herbs and roots. I recommend it. I used to work at a food coop which gave me a quite generous discount on supplements. I would say I spent about as much money as you.

  • zealous: Don't forget to supplement on MAGNESIUM - it's vital for a healthy heart & wellbeing in general, & of course, you know that all the 'LOW FAT' hype by the Heart Foundation is a SICK JOKE - so much other nonsense the media spews on behalf of the PharMafia. I'm NOT encouraging all those CHEAP & NASTY FATS & oils, no ways, but BUTTER is 100% healthier than margarine & all the OMEGAs are essential - esp. coconut, olive, grape seed & flaxseed oils.

  • Spurilina isn't a scam, but I don't think people would want to eat that tastes like seaweed. And here are my thoughts, are you the same type of people that would argue that breast milk is bad for you or not that good for you? Then what would you regard as being good for the body then? Nothing? Human cannibalism? I mean you have people who say eating vegetables is bad for you. And you have people saying eating meat is bad for you. And then eating artificial foods is bad for you? What isn't bad?

  • I've never heard anyone say eating vegetables is bad for you? Maybe eating ONLY veggies, and thats true. The bottom line is you NEED 60-80% alkalizing food and 20-40% acidifying foods. The american diet is just about all acid forming foods, like animal products and sweeteners. So to answer your question, "what isn't bad for you?" A raw diet! Fruits and vegetables, but dont mix them. And unless your eating a very wide veriety of them, you probably need to supplement.

  • Well I have and the point though that you cannot get a clear story about what's real or true or whatever. You can easily side with what one person has said. But you have to understand that evidence can easily be fabricated and appear professional enough to believe. So who knows what we are being told the truth about.

    You cannot trust people of your own race and that is the only thing we can be certain about.

  • I am a firm believer and user of supplementation. Howerver, like everything, know what you are consuming. As I am extremeley active, my dietary needs are different than a person of non or moderate exercise. Therefor, I need more of many things most of us take for granted. I eat healthy as well, most of my food I cook at home with lots of veges. Supplements are ok, but only what is essential for your personal needs. Don't buy into the fads or the hype and consult a professional for advice.

  • Raw, whole food, super greens supplements can provide people with what they are unable to obtain or fit into their diet. It is nutritional food in supplement form. These greatly improved my quality of life. When I first started taking certain powerful detoxifying supplements, I experienced some uncomfortable symptoms, so newbies might feel worse before feeling better. Raw greens like spirulina, chlorella, and fresh cilantro can chelate. Besides detox, they provide dense phytonutrients. So good!

  • Some people say that many vitamins are useless and most of the needed element comes out in your urine. Are there brands of vitamins which you recommend to ensure we are getting our money's worth?

  • It'd be best if you researched vitamins and what they do for the body biologically. Besides vitamin c and water i dont know what else comes from urine (someone fill in the gaps). Think of it this way, you are what you consume (eventually), if you give your body the tools that it needs it will do more than take care of you. I've been taking good suplements for almost 4 years and haven't got sick AT ALL in 3 years. Your body is worth more than a car payment. I'd try nutrilite or usana.

  • They said "comes out in your urine", not comes from urine. Have you ever seen your pee bright yellow after taking vitamin B's?

  • Oh yes everyday, in fact its like an electric yellow (literally)and i messed up on the grammar when i said "comes from urine" i know that some (or most) vitamin c makes it out of the body with urine (er as urine?) bah forget it.
