Ehhh....A fictionalized first person perspective of the Enron crash would be awesome but this looks too poorly acted and written to be that movie. Maybe one day Sorkin will come along and do what he did to Facebook, to Enron.
"your're the only company who can't seem to produce Balance sheet" HUUUH? (amateur scriptwriter at least read what balance sheet) the original statement was balance sheet with earnings statement as a financial institution, its so weird they make movies and they don't even check simple facts and are putting some stupidity in the script... anyway what can u expect from hallmark entertainment... if you want to know what happened at ENRON watch " Smartest Guys in the Room" movie based on facts...
This is sickening. We've been brainwashed for decades to "be loyal" and serve the company, government, etc. What this film proves is that these rules have been put in place to benefit those in power. How convenient for the top dogs to tell me to 'stay in my place', while they reap HUGE financial rewards. I don't believe in any of this hypocritical crap. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I will take as much as I can and run before I die. Good thing I have good teachers.
Could anyone help me find the complete soundtrack of this movie? There was this rock song while Cruver drove his car to the office. It inspired me for some new work I might produce, but of course I need its name first.
I am sorry, but the quality of this is really poor. This is Hollywood version crap. Enron is far too complicated to be reduced to Boiler Room 2. "Cause we got the E..." LOL Jesus. What horrible dialogue. I have not seen one comment that reflects serious research into Enron. This film's assumption is a lie. Enron made very, very poor investment decisions but was still a profitable company. They had a powerful core but had weak tertiary investments (India, for example, and the on-demand failure).
Enron was created to allow the use of unlimited amounts of money that would designate superiority & didn't actually exist. Through new technologies , such as ATM's , wire transfers and alike Enron stood as a criminal center , making funds available that were not expected - which is how the investigation began. The theory was that if you create accounts that are able to support any amount , you rule the world under any circumstances. That is why terrorists surfaced during 911.
top guys wanted to make fast millions..created a perfect scapegoat with the Arthur Andersen audit firm..top guys go under investigations..company's stock go down(from $90 per stock to $0.50 per stock)..Enron falls..thousands of employees left unemployed(from 22,000 to 20 people)..
The case of the greatest "counterfeit shares." fraud in the UNITED STATES is in my opinion CMKX.
CMKX DIAMONDS, THE LARGEST NAKED SHORTED STOCK IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES/WORLD" Trillions of stock shares traded and changed hands UNTIL CMKX revoked itself and had every stock holder pull stock certifcates out of brokerages out of street name and into Investors name to safely hold in their possesion. CMKX is also the LARGEST STOCK CERTIFICATE PULL IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES"
bassinface : yes , Enron bought and sold energy alright - they dealt with bankers to create astronomically huge bank accounts that were fake , fake enough to expose the country's largest accounting and auditing firm to be corrupt. Before 911 occurred , Enron was slated to be investigated as the largest bank account scam in history , created by the bank's elite themselves. No doubt , it was all because the government does this sort of thing to make money by watching the clock alone.
Simple Ponzi scheme perpetrated to skim a percentage off the top of a nonexistent capability. The next movie will be about banking in which an unconnected group of brokers, mortgage Mom and Pop stores, without a shred of collusion, all come to the same conclusions--if there are no rules governing loans, just throw the money out there, collect four percent, and keep it rolling until the three year adjustable rolls over and everyone goes belly up in real estate.
i dont this this is for reals... i think its a joke. if not then this movie is going to suck. horrible waste unless it was made to make me laugh. because it did.
I think this commercial movie or whatever you may call it, sucks... you simply cannot portrait something like the E story in a movie, because it's too overwhelming to comprehend... plus, it lacks objectivity - I suggest you better read "Conspiracy of fools" by K. Eichenwald or/and "Power failure" by Watkins&Shcwartz or anything by Elkind/McLean, if you wanna get the real picture... it's just too complex to just make a hollywood movie about it...
Smolik85, Of course it's too overwhelming to comprehend. It's insane. However most people aren't going to read the books you suggested so this is the only way they will get their information on this horrific nightmare. I don't see how it lacks objectivity, though. I will check out the books, they sound interesting. Consider the film another facet of the story. A different option or view. I think it's unfair to say 'it sucks' if you didn't see the film.
Does anyone know where I can watch this movie?
