@modernblacksmith it works well if you only occasionaly contaminate slightly, makes tungsten last longer since you're not grinding them down so much, but if you heavily contaminate or contaminate frequently as a beginner might its not that useful as you'll need to grind a point anyways. Also we just got a water cooled torch for this machine, haven't hooked it up yet but ill post a video when we do.
the "cup holder" is actually a holder for chemical tungsten sharpener pallets ;) we thought it was cup holder too when we first got this machine in the shop, upon further investigation we discovered otherwise.
@treason93 that makes sense I've never used the chemical sharpeners how do they work? (I only do job-shop tig work nothing material specific, so may not be something I need anyway)
I took a tig class in a tech school and really enjoyed it over other welding techniques. Nice machine too, I have a lincoln mig 180 from lowes and its a great machine it's done everything ive needed it to do. Good luck on that gate too, by the way its lookin sharp.
@slab698 tig is fun and real clean, you can go home with a clean shirt sometimes. I've used that machine it was pretty good much better than the miller equivalent, as for the gate i can't wait to be done with that!
buy machines from kempi fronius or lincoln all of those are good quality

@jdouglasfisher I never used to really care until I saw how nice that mig welder looked after ten years of use!

Great info and insights. Any chance you can do a video on the different TIG torch sizes and uses?
