  • very good video. When watching fights i notice many fighers when they shoot they dont penetrate to one knee. in ur video penetrate to one knee. Which is better for mma? When i shoot i feel more comfortable shooting without a knee goin to the matt, but sometimes i get caught in a gulliotine? i train mma and would love to add a good double leg to my arsenal so any help would be appreciated. btw there is not a lot of wrestling in my area, we train mainly bjj and boxing so im having a little trouble

  • @nixoncooper1 - Great question. When you do not drop to a knee, it is called a snatch double leg. Both types are very good takedowns but are used for different situations.

The double leg as shown above can be used from the outside. You can setup by jabbing your opponent, or ducking a hook and shoot in. The benefit of dropping to a knee is that you can get deep below your opponents hips. This is particularly useful with someone how has a low stance (wrestling or grappling stance).

The snatch double leg is great when you are in close range of your opponent and he has a high stance (kickboxing stance or standing straight up), as you don't need to get too low to get underneath his hips. This is way in MMA it is popular, as most fighters adopt a kickboxing stance. You can go into a snatch double leg easily off slipping a punch or from the fence.

To avoid guillotines, keep your head up (look to ceiling) and your back straight when shooting.

  • Good stuff, David!
