  • hey pure maine coons are now very rare cat's you all have mix maine coon pure maine coon are threathened for their fur because they can be as heavy as 16 kg

  • @sarasafia2 Maybe in your evil country, but not in others.

  • Well, a maine coon is a maine coon. May you dont like them before you get one. Have one myself, he is funny, lol

  • Thats the definition of a cat in heat. It always freaked me out when my cat a long time ago went into heat. But we finally got her fixed. Simple solution.

  • Love the vid. So cute. I'm lucky to have a Maine Coon but mine doesn't look like these. My one was abandoned. My mum adopted him from the vet and the cat latched onto me. I love the breed.

  • Some silly comments on here. Truth is, you don't know Maine Coons until you've HAD a Maine Coon, or two. These cats are blissfully happy.

  • I would like to have a maine coon 1 day.. :)

  • Looks and sounds just like mine!!

  • "Billie, NO!"

  • That isn't a purr. That grumbling is because of the hormones and the cat being in heat, pretty clear by the fact that she keeps poking her butt in the air whenever the other cat gets near it. So most likely she also isn't "playing" either, since most cats in heat aren't interested in anything other than bredding until they are out of heat.

  • @ldm61111 shes not in heat is just a squeak or a chirp maine coons make those noises all the time

  • Is it just me..? because i have a 13 year old OLD maine coon. and she's blonde colored and she's big but skinny.. and she thinks she's a dog.. is it just me or do all maine coons act like this? lol. like when you rub their belly they role around. :P <33 cutest things ever btw

  • Purring while roughhousing. Haven't expected that.

  • WTF, you idiot. there's a right way and a wrong way to introduce cats. this is the WRONG way. GOOGLE IT. Everyone wants to own pets but no one wants to put the minimum effort into learning how to properly care for them

  • @curriguy No, hun, you're the idiot. If either cat was displeased, they'd be hissing, ears flat, and tails twitching. One would most definitely NOT be licking the other, and the other would not be passively laying there while it's happening. This is completely normal cat play. While I agree with your comment about too many people not properly caring for their animals, this person is doing just fine.

  • the cat certainly knows how to make an entrance :D

  • cute

  • PRICELESS!!!! Listen to them purring and chirping. I LOVE THEM!!

  • Awwwww! Cute noises they're making :D

  • I taste head. I taste ear. Hmm what is this taste? Ewww butt.

  • group huuuuuuug :D

  • PMSL...it's like...I'm attacking!! I'm washing!!! I'm attacking again!! Lol, just love kitties..

  • @hamersley1967 I also think my shelter kitty is a Maine coon. I always thought he made weird noises then saw Maine coons and how they chirp and ect. and I definitely think he is. Or atleast has A LOT of Maine coon in him. Beautiful breed of cats they are too. Were lucky. -3

  • @12shamber

My ex b/f has a shelter cat who's a MaineCoon, his ear tufts aren't quite as prominent but he has all the characteristics

  • Cat on the floor: Every morning we go through this!

    LOL XD

  • but will it blend?

  • is that one on the floor in heat.

  • That one is like "all right all right NOW GET OFF ME!!!!!! >:( LOL ^.^

  • continued........^ ^

  • I have a cat which I got from the local cat shelter as a kitten...

Looking at YT videos of Main Coons and reading all the details on Main Coon websites, I think that she is a pedigree Main Coon...

Her physical characteristics, vocalisations, intelligence, and behaviour are all perfectly Main Coon-like. She doesn't have one un-Main Coon characteristic...

And now I'm suspicious and fearful that she may have been dumped at the cat shelter because of the genetic defect that causes heat disease...

  • @Hammersley1967 Maine Coon's don't have a congenital heart defect as a breed, but if you are concerned take her to the vet. They can run tests to make sure.

  • @Abzle666

Thanks for the advice. I posted the same comment on about ten Maine Coon videos and yours was the only comment that I got back. She has all the physical traits of a Main Coon - large frame (14 pounds), large "tufted-between-the-toes" under-paws, long coat (brown tabby) which is longer and shaggier on the underside, sphinxed ears (tufted inside), and an extremely gentle nature...

Only thing is, I got her from the cat shelter...

Why would a pedigree Main Coon be dumped in a cat home?

  • @Hammersley1967 No probs! She was probably taken in for the same reasons as other cats: bought as a cute little kitten, and then as she grew - and in the case of Maine Coons grew BIG - they couldn't look after her/ didn't want the responsibility.

  • @Abzle666

Yeah, but she was only 12 weeks old.

I assumed that she was just a domestic long hair.

Actually, the only reason that I ever even became aware that there was even a breed called "Main Coon" was that I live in the CBD of Fremantle (Perth, Western Australia) and many passersby the front of our house said "Oooh look! It's a Main Coon..."

So, after the seventh or eighth person said it, I googled "Main Coon" and their was a picture of Amber...

But she may have been an abandoned cat...

  • @Hammersley1967 Maybe. The good thing is that now she has a loving home with an owner who will spoil her rotten :)

  • @Hammersley1967

My friend has a Mainecoon that' s also a shelter cat, he's fat, lazy, ill tempered, acts like a king and his owner wouldn't have him any other way

  • @CodenameSailorv1

Sounds like my Amber, as far as the "fat and lazy" goes (16 lbs)...

But she's not ill-tempered or arrogant though... She's quite the sweet heart...

I have recently heard that the Main Coon kitten population are "cherry picked" by buyers for the largest specimens and the rest are tossed into the shelters...

  • @CodenameSailorv1

    He isn't mean, is he?

  • @douro20

he can be, he's nice when he wants something and when he's sleeping lol. Every time he bites me ro anything I ask him why and remind him he owes me his life! (My friend had to keep him in a rabbit hutch when he lived with antoher friend and his family, then when we got an apt togeth

er the cat somehow got ape worms, luckily I noticed them in a hairball and took him to the vet for meds)

  • I want one! There so cute!

  • they act so much like my two maine coons, their 4 now but one of then is really small so she looks like a kitten

  • I saved a stray kitten that looks just like this, but I still want to know exactly how you can determine what kind of breed a cat is. Are main coon kittens expensive?

  • the end scared me... i tink theyre either angry, or having it, or i have a twiisted mind. O.O

  • PURE BRED or MIX: I guess my folks got lucky. They got a a shelter with apparently a health dose of maine coon cat genes. He didn't look any different from the pics we saw of pure breeds. Only a DNA test cld tell for sure--I suppose

  • it looks like he's saying, "come ON! do something!"

  • their still kittens but they look already big.. maine coons are really huge cats..

i would like to have one someday...

i also have a really cute kitty...

i make sure i give him all the best because he gives me so much joy!

    I discovered this site "anasfabulouslife(dot)com"

they provide a variety of supplies for pets, from snuggle beds to pet accessories to pet health care and a lot more!!

  • same my fiance is getting me one

but we're looking for a maine coon

here oklahoma for a decent price

if any knows please contac me

here and i'll get ahold of you

and if any one is putting one up for adoption

in OK let me know i'd be happy to take her or he thank you very much

  • rawrflyingjumphug

  • looks just like our two maine coons but theyre both grown up and ones ginger haha

  • Those look more like maine coon mixes.

  • Anyone know where I can adopt one of these cats? I'd like to get one for my fiance

  • @jerlv9

People generally don't drop off expensive breeds at the shelter. You'll probably have to buy one of these if you want; though it IS one of the most popular breeds in the US. Anytime you s ee a gigantic cat chances are its got a bit of coon genes in it. You might get lucky and find one for adoption, no tellin.

  • @jerlv9 depends where you live, if in the UK go to pets at home and ask for a cat breeder list. or visit your local animal shelter,, i stumbled across 2 large male neutered smokey maine coons for a meer price of £60.. normally they start at £450

  • Aww, crazy lil bastard ;)

  • maine coons are little buggers they bite and talk aday but u gotta love them

  • Maine Coons Love To Play Fight

  • ^^ you r so funny ^^

  • Maine coons are the perfect cat for people who can't have a dog.

  • @bookkeeper57 Better yet, like, you don't want a dog,but a cat similar to a doog

  • @bookkeeper57 Thats why i might get 1:)

  • We raise Maine coons too, This is cute. . Maine coons are very smart.. the GENTLE GIANTS!

  • I like the way the vid starts -

    DUNDUNDUUUN! SURPRISE!

    A cat pounces onto another

    Will it hump it?

    No

    Will it attack it?

    No

    Will it groom it?

    Apparently...

    How cute! XD

  • main coons are the best cats.

  • I have 2 maine coons also, if you look closely there an M on their forehead too which is awesome

  • lovely, lovely... beautifull

  • Comment removed

  • Yes I love how maine coons resemble bob cats. and yet have a racoonish tail.

  • CATS FTW!!!!!!!

i wish i had a maine coon all i have is a black cat -.-

    lol at the end

  • When mine would sleep he also wheezed, at first we thought the funny noise was coming from our furnace,no it's the damm cat snoring.

  • What a show!

    Those are gorgeous cats.

How long do Maine Coons live?

Do they have shorter lives because of their size?

  • google is hard, isn't it?

  • My Maine Coon lived to almost 20 years. He was twenty-five pounds, and not the least bit overweight. A friend of mine has an adult female M.C. who's a beautiful ten pounds. I don't know if the size is related to gender, but it has nothing to do with life span.

  • ya they kinda do look like bobcats.....

  • i got two main coons and the one thats poofy is Big boy XD (or Shibiggey) and the one that not too poofy is Sparta. ♥

  • very beautiful cats really!

  • good for you for not breaking up the "fight" because thats how they meat other cats stupid people would break it up

  • and all it wanted was a bit of a snooze but no... lol cute. i also have a male maine coon HUGE...29lbs in fact still as soft as anything not aggressive in the slightest :)

  • My GOD! They're HUGE!!!! and they're still kittens?!?!?!?! WOAH!

  • Yes, Maine Coons are known for their gargantuane size =3

  • My grandmother and cousin even told me about this maine coon cat that a friend of theirs had that was about the size of a medium-sized dog!

It's best to cherish the size of Maine Coons while they're small because nof how hyper they are, because they'll only be little for so long.

  • haha. aww. i have a 3 year old black and white maine coon and he is the cuitest think i have ever seen. i got him at my grand parents farm.

    Maine Coons<33

  • ummm how big are they are they like a small dog or like really big?!?!?!?!?!

  • umm when they are kittens they are normal, but when they grow up, they are huge. mine is as big as my cocapoo. my maine coon is like 12 or 13 pounds.

  • My maine coon flash is 15 pounds. The vet said he is a regular maine coon. He says the vary from 15-25 pounds.

  • holy wow

  • We have two females, when one is in heat the other behaves in an aggressive dominate manner as this one.The one in heat is submissive. There is no mounting but some wrangling,They are never in heat at the same time so it's payback when the roles are reversed.

  • lol, they sound like pigeons =D

  • OHHH!! i feel so bad for that one kitty...just sitting there being attacked :'( but they are sooo cute!

  • I have a female Coon and a male Siamese/Coon. Very smart cats

  • my mancoon is very brighter then yours but mines alittle bit older to. 5/5 love your moancoons

  • i mean 0:26

  • 0:29 is the best

  • those are cats are mixed. they arn't pure maine coons.

  • they are still bad ass!!!! =D

  • was she/he biting his/her private area in the ending?

  • aww, thats so cute! my mainecoon is called missy and she is 15 soon 16 years old! i love her to death, but i will have to be ready to let her go any time now, she is so old.

  • all you can do is get another and treat it the same way you do missy :-)

  • omg the ending is funny where you yell XD

  • lol one of them is in heat ^^'

  • my maine coon grew up around 2 other cats until he was about 4 years old, then no more animals. so he isnt very friendly to other cats...but he is extremely gentle to humans.

  • My Maine Coon is 2 years old. I adopted him a year ago. This makes me wish I met him a bit earlier although hes still pretty awesome. Maine Coons are without a doubt the coolest quadrupeds ever.

  • sono meravigliosiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • i miss my little main coon, we didnbt even know he was a main coon till we found a website that sold maincoons and had a picture of a cat that looke almost EXACTALLY like my baby, and we got him free! he was such a littel sweetie, best cat ive ever had, and he was HUGE he was tiny when we got him (rode all the way home laying on my shoulder) then he just kept growing and he probbly would have kept on growing if he hadent dissapeard, we think a fox got him....

  • Wow, that one kitten is so laid back! They are adorable!

  • well, 16 years are pretty long year.

My oldest cat died two years ago, she was 20 years old, and only went to vet three times in her life, all because I did not know too much about cat. Now I have three cats - two Maine coon, one dominstic, everyone of them see the vet once a year, I want them to be happy and healthy to the end.

  • How cute!!!

  • I introduced a 4-year-old Maine Coone (from the Humane Society, $25) to my female Siamese and they got along perfectly. He understood her issues with territory and courted her like a politician. Within a week she adored him and each cat lived to age 20. In my experience, MCs want to get along and are gentle, loving and hilarious by nature.

    Great kittens, great video!

  • MCs are gentle and very friendly. These two kittens look like and act like siblings. One

jumps, choke holds, licks and gooses the other: they act like little kids.

  • favorite breed of cats

  • hahahahaha I love the video!!

  • Beautiful little babies! Makes me want to get another kitten!

  • If you have a Maine Coon, please please please get it checked out for HCM, a genetic heart disease that is found in about 25-33% of Maine Coons. I lost my best friend and feline companion of 16 years to this horrible and painful disease. HCM and faint heart murmurs can be detected through ultrasounds. If left untreated, it can cause a blood clot, which in time, will break off and paralyze the rear legs painfully. This is what happened to my baby. PLEASE don't let your Maine Coon go through this!

  • 16 years is a good run though.

  • 16 years is a long time, but it still haunts me to think of the pain she went through at the very end. It's extremely painful for the cat to experience the blood clot blocking their arteries and causing paralysis...people should definitely get their Maine Coons checked out for this heart disease before it's too late

  • Thanks for the tip and sorry for your loss. It sounds like us cat owners should schedule regular vet visits and monitor our cat's behavior to detect HCM early.

  • u can have SO much fun ... with me k

  • omg! that is the kind of cat im taking care of! its a maincoon its orange, black, and whiteish it has a huge orange spot on its head i named her chloe she is very cute has bright green eyes and is very active i cant keep her inside cuz i have a cat and shes 13 she also is de-clawed in the front so she cant defend herself cuz chloe is very mean twards other cats she has attacked my neighbors cat lol it saw it coming lol

  • Hi umm im getting a main coon soon and im wondering if theyre hard to teach not to scratch on furniture because i dont wanna de claw my poor kitty :)lol i think its mean

  • well the 1 i am taking care of was once a stray but she is so used to people that she is so nice. but she cant go in side so i really dont kno for sure if she would claw my furniture. but if she probably wasnt a stray she would be nicer to my cat i also saw on tv that the are very good house pets so ur new cat should hopefully be very good =D
