  • Thanks alot! I m just starting with blender and this is VERY helpful!

  • For those of you who are new to Blender, but know the basics of graphic programs, this is a great tutorial. The essential keyboard shortcuts and the more advanced stuff starts here.

  • I really love your tutorials. They help so much. you have no idea. I am trying out Blender from milkshape because blender has much more options and I love the way you explain. You make everything so easy. i love to see that you make more and more! thanks a lot! keep up the good work!

    imageshack (dot) us / photo / my-images / 59 / blender2d (dot) jpg /

    Thanks alot :)

  • @blendamBa took a look at your image -- it looks like you probably have some extra, overlapping geometry that you're not aware of. This is very common for beginners. Basically, you grabbed the same 3 edges as I did, but you had duplicates of them I think, so you only grabbed one set.. OR you pressed 'e' (which I didn't) to extrude the edges. I only moved the edges with the 'move' gizmo. Practice makes perfect, try from scratch again and it should work out. Be careful when you're extruding!

  • @cgboorman I did it from scratch carefuly and right shoulder (one in the image I sent) was not make me stuck like last time, but left side did LoL, then third time I made it with everything working fine, thanks for advice and for tuts ^_^

  • You are a legend! it is so refreshing to see excellent tutorials like this, ;) thanks man

  • @pushak619 You can resent Blender to its 'factory' settings by going to File > Load Factory Settings, and THEN IMMEDIATELY going to File > Save user settings. Then quit Blender, and re-launch it.

  • for some reason I thought of your dinosaur as a sphinx :P

also if you didn't know this pressing "z" while having nothing selected toggles between wire frame and solid :)

  • Perfect sense of teaching

  • Hey man this is great.... I've been compiling all your tutorial videos and I can't find your 8th and 10th tutorial video... Can you post it again if ever you still have a copy of that tutorial? I'm very much inspired to pursue animation since I found out that Blender is not hard to learn at all unlike any animation software nowadays... Keep posting tutorial videos man.

  • So yea... I'm experiencing a pretty unusual problem here. When I scale the 6 faces of the duel-subdivided cube [I like to mimic everything in your videos to get both verbal and hands on learning down] SOME of the corner panels do not try to even out with the scaled faces. What I end up with is a kind of triangular dip on the some corner panels from the scaled faces.... Do you know what I'm doing wrong or whats wrong with my blender/computer?

  • Your very helpful. Hope to see more vids by you soon... Thxx

  • I love these tutorials :o

I learned more about blender in these 5 tutorials than I learned in a term of Computer Graphics about Google Sketchup. I look forward to seeing more videos!

  • you are great =]

  • ...Ur a good help and im too lazy so, how do ya zoom in???

    Thx

  • @Guncrazy115 watch my 1st Blender tutorial video 'The Basics'. The quick answer: you scroll your mouse wheel. Otherwise, hold ctrl + push your middle mouse button down + move your mouse up/down.

  • @cgboorman -on a laptop........

  • wtf-i have a laptop, and the rotation thingy is different right?......how do you rotate it on a laptop?

  • @Guncrazy115 If you mean change your view easily to the top/front/side views with keyboard shortcuts, watch my second Blender video on customizing the UI. In the video I show you how to set up Blender so that you can use your number keys (above the letters) to easily switch views. Thanks for watching!

  • Wonderful Tutorial thank you so much =3

  • @ 4:49 who needs minecraft when you can do this???

  • When I extrude it comes out of the cube diagonally instead of to the side like yours does, how can I change this?

Great tutorial series by the way :)

  • @jampot111 Ohh I figured it out! :D

  • @jampot111 Go to File > 'Load Factory Settings'. If it still extrudes diagonally, make sure you're looking at it from an angle from which you can easily tell it's direction. Also, you can control which axis you extrude from by pressing e to extrude, then press x,y, or z to move it only on that axis, or shift+(x or y or z) to extrude on the axes you DON'T press. eg: 'e' then shift+y will extrude but not on the y axis, only the x,z.

  • @cgboorman Many thanks! It's all good now, and i'm watching your newer tutorials, they're excellent!

  • @jampot111 you need to select a side first

  • hi buddy i just wanted to no how do you keep the blocks so sqaure thanks mate

  • @minkey151 - I was just eyeballing it.. it just takes practice ;-) .. What I notice a lot of students new to blender doing is extruding when they're not looking at it from a good angle... It's hard to see how far you're extruding if you're looking at the face straight-on.

Even better: after you press 'e', press 2, then enter. You'll have extruded another exact cube. The width of the default cube it 2 'Blender Units'. Hope this helps.

  • @cgboorman OR u can hold ctrl ;D
