@ulizinho it was live - the sound engineering was of course a science by itself, a big project - this live TV production a challenging experience also for the artists as they hear the orchestra and the other singers through earplugs which must be a new feeling for them

Mon Dieu quel calvaire pour les chanteurs et l'orchestre. Absolument horrible, moderniser le theatre ,mais sans contre sens Une idiocie, mais que le directeur de scene a réussi que l'on en parle. Pauvres chanteurs... et le public freaky accepte..

Bien, mais qu'il paye ces horreurs. La pauvre Traviata est maintenant une mendiante dans une gare.. Ou allons nous. C'est naturel que la soprano ne puisse pas chanter convenablement.

That was one of the best ideas ever!! It was simply AWESOME!!! And from time to time totally funny because most ppl went like: WTF??? xD An opera in the middle of Zurich´s main station - surely happens not every day! ;D

Agreeing with Parranoid999. I can only wish the same stunt can be pulled off by an opera company here in America! :o) I bet the Zurich Opera gained a lot of new opera fans (or at least people interested enough to want to learn more about opera) with this.

Those putting this down bec. of singing difficulties are just missing the main point of it. You have to get new audience before they can learn enough to discern great shows from ok ones. No new audience and opera's in trouble!

sound quality was very low live at the station. station background noise was very loud. voices were barely distinguishable and the orchestra was practically inaudible. the recording is great, though.

So you think it was re-recorded? I've just heard of this crazy idea and know nothing about it...

Nope. It was broadcast LIVE during the performance. If it was re-recorded the sound would be much better than this.
