@titmouse0hehehe The black kids were uncomfortable at the beach--they just never went there. Ever. Nowadays its popular to think the whites were racists who brutalized blacks and would kill them if they came to the beach. Not true. I never knew any blacks who wanted to come to the beach. They didn't want to get any darker. It wasn't cool enough for them anyway--they liked their own nightclubs, etc.
The beaches were dirtier, but freer and funner back then. Drugs were almost unheard of.
I'll bet you a dollar to a do-nut up to 12% of those kids in the video were having some kind of sexual contact on a regular basis. It nauseates me to think how dissolute our youth of yesterday have become.
@Moshpith I bet you a dollar to a pack of Lucky Strikes (oh behave) that up to 14% of these crazy kids were hugging and cuddling close, whilst twisting....how shocking
@DrMorpheus actually Alan O' Day plays all the instruments and sings vocals on Twist Fever, but he was a member of Arch Hall Jr.'s band the Archers. Alan O Day went on to write the 70's hits Undercover Angel and Angie Baby..... You can find the whole story in the liner notes to" Wild Guitar Arch Hall Jr. and the Archers". cd on Norton Records.
If you like "Wild Guitar", check out this cool music video, made completely from cut-up Wild Guitar footage! It's for Leigh Marble's song "Lucky Bastards". Paste this into your browser after the YouTube dot com part: watch?v=tWYcpOTGpzM
when Killer Dana was still killer Dana.....too much fun I'm sure.....ahhh, the good ol days when you could play guitar and ride motorcycles on the beach....

"She Twists on the highway, Twistin' in the swimmin' pool..." and in this video, she Twists in the drainage ditch too.
I'm mystified by the feathers on the motorcycle seat, which all the twistin' cats 'n' chicks happily grab. What's with that?

Not a bad tune, but if they wanted wild guitar they should have used Link Wray!
ninyae 3 years ago 2
Wray's "Rumble" is a classic!

Reminds me of one of the those cheap sci-fi flicks from the 50's where some sea creature comes up out of the surf and grabs one of those babes.

Yes, for sure.
"The Horror of Party Beach" (1964) was a hoot.
