What Reno did was an acceptable common practice because there were no acts of malice towards individual US Attorney's for prosecutorial discretion. With Gonzo, it was clearly evident that the firings were in retaliation for not doing the bidding of the president and his Republican cronies. Moreover, it is true the Federal Prosecutors serve at the pleasure of the president, they do NOT serve to pleasure the president. Their job is to enforce the law, not selectively prosecute who the White House wants them to prosecute. Perhaps you should look at the numbers that the libs like to tout as the cost of war. Compared to World wars 1 and 2, Korea and Vietnam, the numbers of killed and wounded in Iraq are very light. Had we gone on and average equaling Vietnam, we would have a death total of over 22,000 by now, yet we are still well below 4,000 and not all of the dead in Iraq are combat deaths.

Clinton actually had Janet Reno appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the White Water allegations that ultimately turned up no wrong doing on the Clinto's part. The special prosector then turned his attention on President Clinton's peronsal love life, even though that's not what he was appointed to do.
