no offence, but you dont know, much about flaming cliffs, you cannot fly f18s in it! Get you facts straight... (flyables: f15,su25,su25t,a10,su27,su33,mig29)
My dream combo would be this throttle unit (5 fucking hats!) and Warthog stick. TM throttles are dying like flies and i don't like the stick that doesn't move, so i'm staying on my trusty extreme 3d pro.
@fmabvideos Actually, the F16's stick still only moves an inch or two. And the movement is there for the pilot's comfort. The F22, F35, I believe the Eurofighter, and the Chinese fighter all use pressure sensitive sticks.
I have one question! When we are building our home cockpit, we would like to use the saitek products together but, is is possible to use the X-65F combat control stick together with saitek throttle controls? Some planes have a joystick for aileron and elevator controls and with a throttle quadrant like the pro flight yoke system, like SAAB T-17 trainer plane from the RDAF.
i spose that explains all the thousands of enthusiasts, developers, websites and supporters then...they dont need to bring out so many games now because there is a limit to how much they can update them. There were more made back then because of the constant update of technolodgy available. So new games were made to compliment this. Its not going to go "extinct" any time soon.
@TedanatorUK A lot of sticks in newer aircraft are more pressure sensitive. That way it's more sensitive and responsive. Also, let's say you've got big hands. If the stick moved, it might not go all the way right before your hand hits one of the walls of the cockpit. WIth it being more on the pressure sensitive, you can get FULL input without worrying about those things.
@TedanatorUK Not for the air force, lol, but I got a student pilot's license and will most likely be a private pilot by the time I'm out of High School (Next year). THey don't tell you that in PRIVATE pilot school, though. I just knew that from TV and stuff.
@TedanatorUK Right now, i'm in an Archer II. I'm hoping to at least fly a nice twin or something one day. Maybe even airline jets. I AM considering the air force, though. I can think of nothing that would be as exhilarating as flying a fighter or an A-10 or something.
because it is can be more conveniant and it resembles the controll sticks in the f22 and f16 which also dont move. Although if you want to fly helis, this sucks
@TedanatorUK In the F-16 and many modern fighters, the stick simply senses pressure you apply to it and doesn't move. This not only makes it more accurate, but allows the stick to be placed on your right, next to the sides of the cockpit (another reason it can't move) and easily within reach. That way you don't have to reach down between your legs and fight with the stick. You think, and it does.
In modern military fighters the stick doesn't move. The stick uses pressure to determine how quickly you pitch or roll, instead of the angle you move it. For non military sims or WW2 era sims you will not want a pressure driven system like this or the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog.
@allenwixted1992 Interesting... Do you have any links to videos or articles on this? Not that I don't believe you, I'm just intrigued with military weapon advancement. Especially, the air force. Soon, there won't be pilots, at all, in any of our fighters. "Macross Plus" or "Stealth" anyone?
@allenwixted1992 According to the Wiki for the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon, "Originally, the side-stick controller was non-moving, but this arrangement proved uncomfortable and difficult for pilots to adjust to, sometimes resulting in a tendency to "over-rotate" the aircraft during takeoffs, so the control stick was given a small amount of "play"." So, does that mean the new sticks are a hybrid? Maybe it's still a pressure system but allowing movement for pilot comfort. *shrugs*
@EnterTheMindzi hmm sounds possible although the a10 sim i have (dcs), in the cockpit the stick is taken from an f16 and that's like a normal stick. i was always under the impression that they scrapped the idea (which i think is the right choice). really need a real pilot to tell us, considring all the models od f16s out by now. nice to see smart ppl on here :D

@TedanatorUK watch this piece of shit stiff stick will have broken pressure sensor in 1year time like all saitek products. i would rather buy a logitech g940.
@TedanatorUK I know it sounds weird, and im a bit late to the party when commenting, but almost all modern jets use this because in a real flight situation, it can be dangerous to have to many moving parts as things can jam. but to be honest, this is kind of pointless for every day flight sim users.
@j4cko56 ummm xplane has 11 years since its made, eurofighter typhoon and FS2002 have 10, lock on(dac don't count since its essentially the same game) and fs9 has around 7 years since release, FSX around 4. between 2000 and 2010 there are only 2 sim franchises while eurofighter typhoon is a one time thing. for the time being only MS Flight is announced and i dont expect any other announcement for 2011.
@routhoula aaah you are so wrong :L the age makes no difference, fact is, hundreds of thousands of people still use many types of flight simulator. FS2004 and FSX are still used everywhere, as is X-Plane, if what you said is true, why do companys still make games and flight sim hardware?

@routhoula DCS A-10c warthog was just released in April. It is definitely a niche market. But, there are plenty of enthusiast to keep these companies making products. These companies have been around for a while and I'm sure they wouldn't invest in creating these products if it was a dead or dieing industry. Devices like these are not for gamers but sim pilots. Just like high end racing gear is for sim drivers. Typically, real pilots and racers or those who dream of being one.
@routhoula Also, keep in mind that many adults want something a little more down to earth and realistic. That's were sims come in. Some might say what you've said about sim racing, yet the industry is very strong. Youtube "InsideSimRacing" to see some news on, the very much alive, sim racing scene. Check out flightsim . com to see all kinds of news on the flight sim scene. Just because it isn't popular with teen and young adults doesn't mean the industry is dead. And many people grow into sims.
Force sensing stick was introduced in fighter airplanes with the F-16 31yrs ago.In first F-16 models stick also didn't move. Test pilots complained about this as they found it difficult to get a "feel" for it (remember, real TEST pilots:-). Stick was then changed so that it moves, although only about 1/4 inch in each direction.
So I guess YES on force sensing, big NO on lack of movement :-)
@conradasman i love force feedback but this is not anyyhing for me i dont like force sensing for what is it good and this joystick is amazing but have to much hats and not any butons :D just some but i dont say its bad stick but forcefeedback so good on g940
The camera man sound like a used car salesman or a speaker from a kids TV show. Really bad.
The stick and the thoughts behind its construction are really good. Unfortunately I already have a super good stick with HAL sensor (not force sensing). But should I ever go back to flying jets...
This Joystick looks great, but sadly I've had way too many problems with previous Saitek joysticks to trust them again. Also even though the force sensing seems cool, how would you know when you've reached the axis limits? It seems like you'd really need to adjust to where the range of force is.
@yoyaya007 No........far from it. But If I see something I want I'll save up for it, no matter the cost, especially if its good quality.
I am just getting this to work as an analog stick in Battlefield Bad Company2 and it is so smooth. I was emulating a keyboard with the software before and I couldn't see a difference between this stick and my old CH Products stick. Now I'm using the joystick support built into BFBC2 and it's like night and day, my movement is smooth and precise. Hello 2.0 KDR!
@TDJP123 It took me a week or so to get comfortable. Once you find your sweet spot for the force settings and the dead zone, your good to go. My reaction time is more than cut in 1/2 because the game doesn't have to wait for me to move the stick to center. Here's an example. If I'm moving right (holding the Joystick to the far right) and I want to move left. The 1+ second it takes for the traditional joystick to travel from far right, to center, and then far left is now instant using the X-65F
To bad they are still using the shity ps 2 connector's on it.

Few comments.
The X65 are only to be used in a appropriate flightsim. I will still use my MS sidewinder Pro 2 stick in most flight sims.
The X65 is a totally new way of flying and dosen't feel like right for post-modern airplanes.
And futher more, the X65 has too many hat switches and the rocket and bomb buttons are difficult to reach.
The X65 are a solid and almost all metal stick. Quallity no doubt about that but then again, only for your F-16, A-10 or similar flight sims.
DjankoDK 10 months ago
@DjankoDK I prefer my X52 Pro, The MFD is Much more important than a single instrument.
My perfect combo will be this stick, with the X52 Pro shape and MFD, and the base mounted rocker swithces.
In my opinion the X52 Pro is much more handy thanks to it's many different types of switches.
