Wonderful song :) shame about the quality though. Would have loved to have watched them perform at reading.
My friend Grace did an amazing cover of it. Feel free to check it out. If you type in Grace est la Fleur - the XX Crystalised it should come up. It's the best cover I've heard so far (and I am not being biased)
one fukin song... sounds a bit goood. but still no energy no stage presence. no entertainment value... if i saw these in a pub...i would definitely leave. Its not fair honestly... i work my ass of too write songs and i have ripped 4 pairs of trousers and broken 2 guitars on stage... :L. and they get on stage at reading. sure im only 16... but honestly... i don't understand... i'll let you listen too my songs...im starting to doubt my abilities... i feel this world is leaving me behind.
@FrancisPit lol entertainment value isn't measured on a scale of 'how much they jump around' and obviously they're not going to fit in if they play in a pub lol it's not where they belong. you've just got a really narrow-minded view of live music
I don't think anyone can seriously make the statement that the XX are better then Radiohead, I like the XX but they are very early in their development, while Radiohead have one of the best back catalogues of any band ever, they have constantly innovated themselves
@Renegademaster15 yes the xx are early in development, but surely this is a good thing and a sign that there is even better to come! Radiohead ofcourse I agree have some seriously good material ...but that is what we will be saying about the xx when they reach radiohead's stage
@flintnsniffs I'll be honest, and I say this with up most respect for the xx as a band, they are one of the few refreshing bands to come out in the last couple of years, but they do not have the potential to ever be as good as Radiohead are, Radiohead are a band full of musical geniuses, while the xx's songs are well crafted, none of them have the technical ability of any of Radiohead's members
Have people seen the awesome installation at The Creators Project by Karl Sadler which features The XX? It's showing in London at their exhibition on Saturday...
Whoever is bashing radiohead doesn't know alot about music. Their time signature changes and song writing is unbelievable. Musically speaking they are one of the most talanted bands around right now. They were even named one of the best artists of the decade. I'm sorry if millions of professional critiques don't ask teens hating on YouTube for advice.
@mcgruffle4171993 i agree with you and i think radiohead are the best band i have ever come across, but i have to say that it doesnt take a genius to change a time signature, and they dont even change time signatures that often, at the moment 'go to sleep' is the only one that comes to mind where they do, sorry but its just theres so much else to their genius that i felt compelled, haha
Ahahaha!!! All the Radiohead comments are making me laugh! You ever heard of that album that went down in rock history called.. Erm.. Oh what was it called... OK Computer? The xx are great don't get me wrong but you cant compare them to Radiohead, grow up a bit ya bunch of Radiohead hating morons.
the first time i listened to them i didn't find their appeal and i found them boring. But now i like them. They sound so different and i'm glad i gave them a second chance. But why does that one guy not play real drums???

compare this to most art-rock and this is actually tuneful and good i fucking hate hipsters who listen to shit like king of leon, animal collective and readiohead

Kid A is an A- and a bad one at that... although I have to agree that is their best album - just because Thom Yorke doesn't sing. You want the best band in the world out right now?! Try Wussy, Drive-By Truckers, Gogol Bordello, The Moldy Peaches, The Hold Steady. Radiohead are terrible.
@JapanAlex01 apples to oranges buddy. radiohead is complex. the xx is minimalistic. both are very good, but both are very different. now one could argue that radiohead is better than muse, because muse tried to copy radiohead's style and ended up making a bubble gum version of their music, but you can't compare the xx to radiohead, because they are completely different in terms of style and approach to music
@BeauSylvester47 I dont really see any similarities between muse and radiohead, other than the falsetto singing style. But that's not at all unique to radiohead.
in heighnsight i should not of consumed a certain amount of drugs so that maybe i would have been able to witness this absolutely delectable band work its magic ... a true shame
it is so lucky to play on the stage of reading festival in the 20's, sigh, it has always been my dream to perform on the stage on the reading festival or go watching the reading festival.
how did you hate them? i went along partly by chance to meet my friend (whom i couldn't find) and then they came on stage so i decided to stay and watch. i can honestly say they were my favourite band of the whole weekend, other than radiohead of course.
The music has a melancholy, introspective feel to it. If they were rocking out to it, it wouldn't fit the mood of the music.
