they both have good voices, and sing well together , listen to love me by greg allman and cher ,this is just not the best recording of their voices live .but that doesnt mean they didnt sing well live .together on other occasions
nice 2 see them together ,sure they had some happy times, and their son is proud of them both . would be nice to see more live performances of them around that time
OMG. I don't know if my ears will recover. This was never meant to be. She's okay on her own and he's excellent on his, but together, it really does sound like shit.
Thanks for the response, ShatteredRoses11 - I'll bet he was a whole lot nicer to deal with when he was high - from what I've read, he was a real SOB to live with (and to be married to...) -
Does anyone know if Cher was using back in those days? I just can't imagine how she would have put up with his...p.s. I love this song, I think they sound great together -
@ShatteredRoses11 well, she didn't know in the beginning but later on she took him to rehab a couple of times but it didn't work, his addiction was also one of the reasons they broke up.
this album when it first came out was burning down the charts it was sooooooo popular and the critics prased it as remarkable a mix of disco-blues-soul-pop-rock all under one cd...
@ravenwhitechapel Where in the world did you get that information from? This album sold less than 550,000 copies worldwide, it didn't chart, and it was out of print by 1983. I do, however, think that the album really isn't that bad despite the fact that it is Cher and Gregg Allman.
@luchalloyd Are you sure it sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide? It was a complete flop here in the United States. Didn't even crack the Billboard top 200 best selling album charts and an album only had to sell 10-20 thousand in a week to be at the bottom. The first Allman Brothers album was on the bottom on that chart for three weeks and only sold 30,000 copies. I still have my copy of Two the Hard Way but I rarely play it. I do like some of the songs very much & Cher is good.
@luchalloyd I became a huge Allman Brothers fan in 1970 and we fans were pissed when Gregg got involved with Cher and left Macon and his bandmates for LA and Cher. The ABB did an album in 1975 that is uneven largely due to the fact Gregg did what little he plays and sings on the album from a studio in LA while the rest was recorded in Macon Ga. And this was their follow up to Brothers & Sisters which sold over 1 million and was number 1 for 5 weeks. See how Cher can be distracting!
GREAT! I have this cd man they were so HHHHHHOOOOOTTTT when it was released. I loved it thanx to the perspn who videod it and the person who put it on line... the entire cd is hot...
i remember this song,as a matter of fact i LOOKED for it. goddamn me i still like it. im from georgia, and as a fellow hired gun i met the brothers once. needless to say he was fucked up,liquidated, and just plain drunk. he was way past typical georgia drunk which is pretty bad. he layed into that guitar, and sang his little fershnerkd ass off. a damn good all around guy. cher was very nice and uncomfortable as always down here... thank you for the post
I love this man and his talent. I am really happy that he was able to straighten himself out and survive what he put himself through !! He doesn't just sing the blues, he has the scars !!
Dont know alot about Gregg Allman? lots of info out there probaly the Best White blues singer that ever lived =-made history with his Brother Duane inthe Allman brothers -
I TOTALLY AGREE with you Chris, "Two The Hard Way" is an amazing album! "In For The Night" and "I Found You Love" are definately my favorites. They sound awesome togeter, and I hope their album will come out on cd someday!
Hey man, they were in LOVE. The album they made together (Two The Hard Way by Allman and Woman) is seriously underrated. I honestly doubt that most folks that comment on how bad it is, have even listened to it! There is more to Gregg than blues and more to Cher than brassy pop. They both sings their fine asses off & sound great together. "Move Me" sounds even more disco on their lp. Side one is uneven, but good. Side two is absolutely KILLER. Check thier duet of IN FOR THE NIGHT! An R & B gem.
Well, maybe that he was legendary and had some big radio hits like Midnight Rider and All My Friends? She was attracted to rock stars for more than their looks. You are clearly a shallow person for making such a comment.
actually he divorced her, then they remarried, then divorced a second time..she said in her bio that he was the only man she ever truely loved...he couldn't take the hollywood crap...
@cassielynnejo - Are you kidding? He was a Rock-n-Roll Romeo....and he loved her, that was the thing. ;-D When I met Gregg I was 11 years old, just a few days after Elijah was born. Was in Beverly Hills with my family, checking out the stars homes, and Gregg went zipping past Beverly Hills Park and we followed him to Diana's. (he was picking up Cher from an afternoon reception- party for Chaka Kahn, I believe....)
I really enjoyed watching this. I don't know a lot about Gregg Allman except that he always appeared semi-retarded. Never understood cher's attraction.
This is so awesome! brings back so many GREAT memories from the day they are both still kicking ass and taking names..Gregg you are still so HOT! Cher you are the DIVA Godspeed to you both..
Old Allman Brothers fan here: I have always avoided this record/period like the plague but I'm pleaseantly surprised by the groove here and arrangement. Not surprised by Gregg's whackedoutedness. Damn shame cause the BAND on that Japanese tour was smokin'!
Cher's voice changed when she performed with Allman. With Sonny her voice was a little more rough and higher pitched but when she started singing with Greg her voice smoothed out and got a lot deeper, has anyone else noticed that
As a matter of fact, yes, I do. The arranrgement sounds like it could have been on the first Toto album or maybe from Boz Scaggs' Silk Degrees album, so it's unmistakeably from 1977 vinyl. Get in touch.
"Here , Gregg eat these , then go out there and sing with your wife ." As an Allman Brothers fan for 20+ years , I could barely sit through this vid . It was however great for a good laugh , so thanks for posting .
I saw them at Glasgow Apollo when this was in the charts! Not the best gig I've ever been to lol
