Good stuff. I learned by playing alot of DMB as well. Found out in the recent Taylor magazine the way he plays without have a custom barritone guitar. Buy some 12-string guitar strings, use the thinner upper octave set and tune accordingly to B. Sounds lower and alot more full than using a capo.

I've listened to this for more than a year and gave your new recording a couple of listens. I think that they are both tremendous. Your new axe and recording set-up made the new one crystal clear (a year or so's additional playing probably didn't hurt, either) but both versions are solid. I prefer your singing in the first version, but only because you asked us to compare. Great job! I enjoy your stuff. How is college going? Do you play out at USC? (You're at South Carolina, right?)

@tangledup625 Thank you my friend, I like the vocals in this better than the newer one as well, and I think it turned out that way because I used a much softer voice when singing this due to lack of confidence lol. I actually go to U of Illinois, but I don't get out to play much around there. The whole playing in public thing is still scary for me. I've done it a few times in front of small crowds so hopefully I can work my way up

You HAVE to play out! At first, I found it easier to play in front of people that I didn't know. (Less lingering embarrassment if one screws-up?) Look for a small coffee house/open mic, off campus. Take a close friend for moral support and relax. (Once again, if you don't do your best, WHO CARES! You will never see any of the audience, again! When you get over the jitters, do the same kind of venue on campus. Remember, the crowd WANTS you to succeed. If you have fun, so do they.

Sounds pretty good brother, sounds a little muffled but that's what happens when u capo at 7, the chord right before the chorus sounds off, check some different tabs and see if anyone plays it differently, I don't know what the chord is but the high e string might need to be played a fret or two up, good job though, I play the song open but capo at 7 gives it more of that barritone guitar sound. Keep doin your thing

thanks. these are actually the exact chords (with one exception) that Dave uses. He just tunes his guitar to raised-B, so i play everything 7 frets up with the capo.

You should really join Ants, we have a tour area devoted to each show, and there are huge tailgates before each show. Last year our ants tailgate at Toyota was AWESOME! So much fun.
