I don't know if someone answered your question or if you went out to get it by now, but I recently bought it and I love it. If you're familiar with the "Gust" Games (they're all fairly similar to each other), then you'll like it too. Not to mention this game boasts some of the cutest girls in Anime-like game history in my opinion. I'm in love with Nikki (1:33). Be warned the "level up" system is very different than what you might expect. I learned that the LONG hard way.

Its pretty damn good, only problems are that the classes can be a pain, leveling/advancement is difficult to understand, and the alchemy part needs some time to get rolling. Oh, and the damage they are dealing in the movie: not what really happens. The millisecond your characters increase attack/magic by five, they deal like 20 more damage a hit.

If it's like Atelier Iris 3, you should be able to choose English or Japanese voices. They're usually pretty good about that.

With the success of their recent games they could easily afford to make it 3d , but the point is nobody wants it to be 3d. For the same reason that nobody wants Street Fighter to be 3d.

The idea here is that variaty adds a bit of flair and that 2D cannot replace 3D, such as 3D canot replace 2D. There's a certain charm to 2D as there is a certain charm to 3D. 2D can do things 3D can't, and vice versa.

Plus, what of 3D games that imitates 2D games, or 2D games that imitates 3D games. Cell shading for exemple is a complex manner of imitating 2D graphics with a 3D engine.

Still, the presentation and amount of detail differs pending on which dimension they're using.

Yeah I agree with what you're saying but... don't you think that 2d graphics needs to evolve like 3d graphics does? Look at how limited the animations were on the sprites. The first Valkyrie Profile had way better animated sprites than this has and VPL is like 10 years older ( even on a lesser system no less PS1) Many new games are still useing 2d sprites but they haven't got any smoother or better animated.

It's actually the style, for the animation to be choppy like that. That's how it's supposed to be.

Some old games from 15 years ago, like Earthworm Jim or Flashback, had better animation in terms of how many frames were used.

Yeah True. But I think they need to update the frame rates to appeal to newer audiences so when they see it they will think " wow.. that looks sweet " . If 3d graphics evolves, 2d graphics needs to evolve as well. I am aware that 2d can only get so good though. But 2d animation is basically just real animation, and look at what they can achieve with just a pen and paper.
