Embarrassingly, I wasn't even aware of this concert until I found the video. I've loved REM ever since I first heard them. Now I love them even more.
Hope many Burmese were able to see it-as well as their shithead government 'leaders'.
I truly hope Aun Sang Suu Kyi has as much inner strength as Ingrid Bettancourt-and that her ludicrous incarceration due to a tireless, peaceful belief in basic human rights - orchestrated by gun-toting thugs - will end soon, and every bit as happily.
"beavoux59" why do you matter about his face? this face painting means something... but if you don't like it, you don't have to wear it. you must love him because of he writes great lyrics, because of he sings theese songs very well! if you see concerts of nowadays, he doesn't wear this painting, but he doesn't dances like he did.. but never matter, R.E.M. is the best.
Amazing gig.Bring's back great memories.Does anyone know where I can get an audio of this gig,I tried downloading a torrent but it keeps timing out on me.
I was there..had seen them in the point that year also. Hope i can get a ticket for the Olympia live album rehearsals this year!! Always been the band for me!
the best gig i was ever at. nearly 10 hours of fantastic music by REM, Mobi and the Devlins. and the weather and backdrop was amazing. love live REM

From the "GREEN" album/tape/cd of 1988 the lyric goes:(all caps)
"THIS IS MY MISTAKE, LET ME MAKE IT GOOD.
I RAISED THE WALL....
IT'S HIGH TIME I RAZED THE WALLS THAT I'VE CONSTRUCTED...
THIS IS MY MISTAKE, LET ME MAKE IT GOOD.
I RAISED THE WALL...."
AND IT IS REPEATED SO...
RAISED HAS IT 3-1 OVER RAZED!
just so U know.

Green was a great album. This is the best song. Wrong Child was also great and that song does'nt get enough recognition.

Mom always used to "worry about me" whenever I listened to this. I disarmed that by speeding up the track. This was SO fucking long ago....
