One can say the same about a newborn baby. Or a baby that was born 30 days ago (it's already said by Peter Singer). Maybe you can say it about a baby who was born 15 or 20 years ago. Because if god doesn't exist, by your logic, it's okay to kill human babies.
Religion isn't about abortion. Maybe some religions make a bigger deal out of it than others, but that's not the only issue revolving around religion. I hate to break it to you, but you don't know everything or every person. You have a very American ethnocentric point of view.
I'm pretty sure your 11 years old and believe every word of your parents bitching. You need to learn to believe in something deeply on your own.
What Obama says here is complete BS. Because about 97% of abortion are because of convenience. And he is NOT trying to limit/reduce abortions, because he specifically voted "NO" THREE TIMES to passing a law to protect the rights of babies once they are born after an attempted abortion, and then killed after birth. (Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act) Search it if you haven't heard.
Great headline, but there were a lot of entailed things in that legistlation that I was againsted. If they introduce a true legistlation to protect live babies, Not one person would ever deny it.
I can't believe Obama quoted Micah 6:8 ...to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God...in the same breath as I am pro choice. Obama pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

does anybody else notice how obama never truly answers the questions given? he talks eloquently around every question and even Rick Warren can see it :)
and it makes me mad how he would not have appointed 2 of the most amazing supreme court justices.
PS.... That includes history, there are no countries in history that were not effected by religion (Greeks, Romans, Persians, Egyptians, British Empire, etc...)
Separation of church and state is an American concept. One that isn't working too well, considering religion very much effects politics here, think about it... This debate wouldn't have been held in a church if it didn't have any effect.
By the sound of your statements Dadosmrado, you are ignorant of the difference between an opinion and a fact. For your information every word of your comment is not "truth" it is merely your flawed opinion.
Furthermore, if you can name just one governing body that is not effected by any religion (Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, Wiccan, etc...) in any way than you are officially the only person on the face of the earth to hold this secret "truth." And by that I mean full of shit.
If abortion is a serious "moral" issue, that means that it involves right and wrong. That means that, from his perspective being a Christian, it involves SIN. So then, he must believe that it is possible to sin by having an abortion. Why would it be a sin for one person and not for another? That's relativism. His position makes no sense.
That abortion answer seems very weak to me. Just because it's a tough decision that makes it ok??? So if I felt the urge to kill someone and I consult with my pastor and other respected members of the community and I end up doing it, it's ok because it was a tough decision??? cmon man
Justices Thomas and Scalia are two of the most brilliant judges ever to sit on the US Supreme Court. To fundamentally disagree with them is beyond me. Scalia's opinions are well constructed, logical, and supported entirely by the Constitution. Thomas's opinions are short, but represent pure reason and sensibility when approaching Strict Constructionism and the Constritution. The opinions of Ginsburg and Stephens are explorations of case law with little regard for the words of the Constitution.
watch (Part 7/10) 2008 Presidential Forum at Saddleback Church in the related videos to the right. at 8:35 seconds into the vid you see john McCain ask if they are gonna get back to the surpreme court justice question but one problem on his part. they never once asked about surpreme court justices yet. only to obama. proves right there he knew the questions prior to coming out there.
"I don't think women make these decisions casually?" hmmm, every women I know practically has had an abortion, and not just one, several, some up to 4 or 5, and then we say have less abortions, but then we promote sex everywhere we look? Thats a statement Obama should probably rethink...
im pretty sure thats his point. he has talked about reducing abortions with more sex education, making birth control available to all women and condoms more readily available. Right now insurance companies cover viagra but not birth control. WTF is up with that??? A guy can get hard for free but a women cant make the decision not to get pregnant without paying for it? I think we can reduce abortions and also have women free to make their own choice.
seperation of church and state doesnt mean seperation of faith and politics. It doesnt mean that religion and government do not coexist and operate in the same sphere of influence. If they want to have a forum in a mosque they can. Just the same as in a union hall.
the concept of seperation of church and state refers to state (or country in the case of america) run churches such as the anglican church in england in the 1700's. Learn some fucking history

Go to 9:12-Obama's about to say Clarence Thomas wasn't experienced, but quickly changes his wording so as to not invite a comparison to himself.

All he wants to do is just confront evil...
That wasn't even one of the 4 options given to him.
Again, what a moron!
You defeat evil!...not confront it.
"hey there evil. i see you being evil, but i'm not goin to do anything about you. you can keep being evil."
mastablasta06 3 years ago
he made the point that you cannot defeat evil which is gods task. you think we can defeat all the evil in the world and eradicate it from existence?
