man just looks so freaking good, hope it not just your review, but this defintly seems like 1 those games that no1 really ever played buty should have so that future games or nowadyas games woulda taken all the good from it like they shoulda been doing (and I know i just said something, but had to add this)

really well done, you can play this from gamefly and was goin to ignore this because of bad reviews on it, but this made it look cool and some point in near future defintly gonna try and play.

How can you review Kingpin without touching on the ONLINE play!!!??? Seems like maybe you reviewed it recently and there are no servers available. Your missing out fatman. There is a team based mode called Bagman which is kinda like CTF except its the BEST teambased game I have every played to this day. I'm sad :(

I was wondering, (since you are a silent hill 2 fan) did you or are you planing to play and review Amnesia The Dark Descent? Your reviews are the best on youtube,keep it up and in the fututre do a review of Bioshock 2.

fair review but you forgot the Multiplayer man THAT was what made this game great!! I take it you never got around to trying BagMan which is loosely based on CTF but err not really. There is not flag, its money and you have to retrieve it from a central point of the map and bring it back to your own safe. Hilarity ensues when trying to rob your oppenents safe and also when massive wars breakout at the central point where the money is found. God I miss bagman, nothing comes close!!

@antisocialfatman I meant the part about getting the crowbar and weapons to fight with. It's kind of like a Zelda trading sequence. I'd love to see a Zelda review by you, by the way. I just got into Ocarina of Time, and it really is something special. It's, at its core, a puzzle game, each dungeon focusing on a separate item (and therefore gameplay element) and using it to navigate through the labyrinth that forms the dungeon. Very well done, with some pacing issues though.

Actually the game does tell you about picking money up off corpses, well in the instruction book anyway. So I suppose it would put you at a disadvantage if you didn't read the book, I would rather play this than Oblivion anyday, good review fatman keep em coming.

Awesome review! I always wondered about Kingpin and never had a chance to pick it up. I might give it a go now.

I also highly recommend Soldier of Fortune, another Quake 2 engine game. SoF doesn't have quest hubs or buddy AI, but the shooting is an absolute delight (some of the best combat in a single player FPS outside of Fear).

@Hndshks Yeah, I played SoF. The GHOUL model deformation engine was pretty brutal. I'd love to see a modern game use that kind of thing. With modern graphics, that'd be horrible, but horribly awesome.

@antisocialfatman Zombie Island might be your cup of tea then, I saw it a few days back, melee zombie survival thing, each zombie will have layers of tissue (skin, muscles, guts, bones) so the injuries will be quite graphic.

@Hndshks If you live in the U.S. it might be hard to find. This game was released in '99 shortly after the Columbine Shooting. It was pulled from store shelves... But if you look on the Amazon/Half.com you should have no problem finding it.

I'm sure it's hard to find now, but that is because the thing is nearly 11 years old. You don't find 11 year old PC games on a Gamestop shelf.

A shame, really. It's a cult classic that deserved more attention upon release. I remember buying when it was first released. There were only two copies available at an Electronics Boutique. First time I was ID'd for a game. The senators used this game as an example for censorship control in gaming. Turned it into a whipping board for waxing philosophic about "videogames making people violent". It was a rather pivotal moment in gaming history.

@1Nickyduncan Kingpin should definitely run without problems. The game only requires a 233MHz CPU and 64MB of system ram. It's running in the Quake 2 engine from 1996. Your machines will probably exceed the required specs by a factor of x5 at the least.
