Iogun24x7 you shouldn't have compared TOR to GW2 graphics. The game is in development, and developers are polishing the cinematics. Best judged when the game releases. Even at that time, GW2 still looked 100x more appealing than TOR.
Holycrap you tiny sad and unbeliveble WoW players... What a load of nonsense, swtor ain't MMO? The conversations is singleplayer? Wow were build on warcraft 3? LOLZ do your homework before acting all cleaver... Damn no good trolls
Hey! I'm trying to make it a big on Youtube, and I just posted my first actual good SWTOR PvP montage! Please check out my channel, and if you think my video is good, subscribe and like! Thanks.
Unfortunately SWTOR is not an MMO, so the comparison is useless, additionally because of the low detailed meshes, medium resolution textures and bright colours SWTOR only really looks better than WoW.
@DaniWesNL Ummm what are you talking about? of course it's an MMO you dumbass. Do you even know the meaning of MMO? Let me spell it out for you just in case. 'Massively multipalyer online' Which it is but all standerds, it's a massive world, it's multiplayer, (has pvp, and pve.) and is online.
I love how every TOR related video gets bombed with the "WoW Clone" debate. Can we all atleast pretend for a second that the MMO genre was around before WoW and will exist long after WoW is a memory?
@gorylek198 Though you are obviously trollin, I have to debate your claim for the sake of those that might beleive you. The game looks exactly like this video IF you have a decent enough computer.
@graythor5 it's not trolling :) i play the game you should know. Thing is - high res textures are disabled. They use it in promo videos and stuff but in game - you play on row res with high res durning conversation. It's not a secret.
some of the swtor examples are from conversations where there is high rex textures which arent there when u run around and play the game, eventualy it might come but... u cant compare cus it would be dissapointing
SW:tOR really needs these true High resolution textures applied outside conversations as soon as possible.. I don't believe BioWare telling it would cause large impact on performance..
Rift has been the MMO that took the biggest dent out of WoW at the time of it's release, yet it did not kill WoW, mainly because a lot of players don't even like to branch out and even try other games. But either way, WoW will either die very very very slowly or just be cut off by Blizzard
I agree that SWTOR's graphics are very up to par with other top graphics mmorpg's. Rift: slightly better, but they went for realism not stylism. Aion: Worse than swtor. They use a lot of bloom and shiny effects to cover this up. AoC: At first the grapics were better than swtor, but I think they tuned it down since then. It doesn't look as good when I log in now at least.
@PwnLord1 As soon as the guys at BioWare learn how to implement a patch, fix the current content and manage a game without reckless behavior to class and item changes. Thus far BioWare has not shown that they have the professional capability to handle this product post launch. I direct you to the massive issues with ability lag, lack of exe security (hacks/exploits) and every patch has needed a repatch. Poor implementation of the PTR, the list goes on... But it'll kill WoW, amirite?
so....? wow had the same issues from the start and had it till cata-release(soon after i stopped playing). balance-probs? rogues vanilla, rogues/warlocks bc, dks in wotlk etc.
goldfarmers, hacked accounts, boring endgame/grind your t10 gear etc.
@PwnLord1 I started playing SWTOR because I'm tired and bored of WoW. After just a few days I realized how far behind SWTOR really is. It will take YEARS to get to where WoW is now. The game is very rough and lacks now standard mmo features.
SWTOR will not last long enough to catch up to WoW in features and playability. I am very sad at that. Voice acting should not have been the main focus.
WoW = Streamline smooth game lacking original content
You try to copare a game thats not even out? Thats Bs...wait till it comes out and be fucked. It is good but animations are not even near what i saw so faar in gw2.

@YearZer02022 And where are your facts? Even the "sources" people quote aren't reliable. Most "sources" even have a disclaimer. The gameplay is great, and if you knew anything about other MMOs, you would know that the launch went off very well in comparison.
The gameplay is great until L25 or so... that's when reality sets in for most people. Every quest you do is the same. Every bonus objective is the same. Even the variety of encounters are the same. There is no variety in that every one of them is 2 small mobs and 1 big mob or 2 big mobs or 1 elite and a minion or two. Gameplay is all well and good but when you're literally killing the same 3 mobs from 25 to 50.... it gets tiresome and stale.
@GuyGordon77 Oh ok, so it's like every other MMO out there with regard to the questing? I have to say, the WoW quests were a lot worse. Then you had the novelty ones that crept in around wrath, which soon became normal with the release of cata. But then, that is three expansions into a game. I think most people forget that. And that TOR is only just over a month old, it's still an infant, and if people have played 12 hours a day to race to 50, then more fool them.
@LimpSaber I don't know anything about World of Warcraft. I have never played it. It shoots for a playerbase that is very, very young and from what I've read, it plays like it. So, if this is what WoW is about, it speaks volumes as to why I don't like it... that being because I don't like games designed for children. I like depth and variety in my MMORPGs. This game, like you say, plays like a kid's toy where you put square pegs in square holes over and over again.
@GuyGordon77 funny then that so many adults play it. I'm struggling to think of any games that have more depth than TOR, theyre all pretty much the same, they all are based off the same original games from ten years ago (yes even wow).
@LimpSaber What is "deep" about SWTOR? It has a voice acted storyline? Skyrim has that... 1992's Strike Commander had that... and complete with consequential decision making that steered the campaign in different directions. What is "deep" about SWTOR? I'm not talking about any other MMO here. Just SWTOR on its own merits. Unplug the internet from SWTOR and it's a half-baked single player game at best.
@LimpSaber Hate to break it to you, but TOR is based on WoW. The CEO pretty much said you'd be stupid not to do what WoW has. Otherwise, the game is alright as far as the story goes, but depth? Real depth is not playing through a story that won't change the next time you play it enough to warrant another play-through, written by someone other than me. But that's just my opinion. The game is good for a few months at the very least.
@LimpSaber The post I was responding to suggested that SWTOR is deeper and that other games were based on WoW, when the same is true of SWTOR. This has nothing to do with what WoW was based on. The game's not that deep where it counts - gameplay. You're still doing the same hotkey based shit while standing still. You don't even get to choose your own starting area. The devs are playing your story for you, if that's deep, I feel sorry for you.
@LimpSaber Newsflash.. I don't play WoW. This was not about WoW or where it came from. I was just responding to a comment you made about "other" games being based on WoW when SWTOR is no different aside from voice acting. The gameplay at its core is still the same grind, I just don't find it deep, it's all a matter of opinion. I'm actually playing SWTOR but it's getting harder to log in unless friends are on.
@LimpSaber Yeah replying to one week old post. WoW is based off the warcraft RTS series. Just being a hotkey style MMO doesn't mean it copied everquest, but yeah I see you were just trying to prove a point to whatever the other guy said. (I never looked at what was said.) Just had the urge to correct.
@gameraqua WoW used a modified Warcraft engine you mean. The actual MMO style was based off Everquest, most older gamers wont even question that. The engine that TOR uses though is a little questionable, although it seems to work. I remember questioning why WoW used it's engine when it was released, but obviously it worked for them too.
@LimpSaber I wasn't talking about the engine warcraft uses, but the hotkey style of play. Everquest borrowed what it had from games before it. Like WoW did and like SWTOR did. I don't think it is right to call much of anything 100% original. All innovations of one another with a different skin.
And the Hero engine that SWTOR uses is a terrific MMO engine, but a few have pointed out it does not work with everything Bioware wanted to do, which in turn causes some things to be weird.
@gameraqua I never actually said Everquest was 100% original. I do however find it amusing how tenacious the WoW fans are of defending their game. Especially when I enjoyed many years on that game myself. Both games are good in my opinion, although from the perspective of a veteran WoW player, it got far too repetitive and stale. But my tastes are my own opinion. Fact is, wow graphics are old now, and things have moved on. Which is why its not the king of subs anymore.
@LimpSaber The difference with WoW and EQ is that WoW implemented on things EQ did by adding things that weren't there.
SW:TOR pretty much copied WoW and added nothing. Before you go saying "but the voice acting!"; the voice acting adds NOTHING to an MMO. It's single player feature, not a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER feature.
The game play is nearly identical but worse, there's nothing you do when playing that is different and unique. You're paying a fee for a game that could of been single player.
@lonejustice555 Not one important thing? I call bull. They implemented the battleground system, dungeon instancing, raid bosses and mechanics, the UI they made is pretty much standard now, same for the abilities and mechanics of the classes.
The list goes on. SWTOR doesn't do the same thing and better, it poorly copied. It's okay you're a fanboy and you want to try and convince others that your purchase was reasonable. It wasn't. You're paying for a single playing game with some MM option.
@toolazytomakeoneup That's funny because reading your comments i only see one fanboy screaming and that's you. First of all SWTOR isernt a knock off of anything, every game from MMO's to FPS's to RTS's all feature similar mechanics of previous titles in the genres or other genres. You say everyone you know say's it's a poor copy? WoW was a copy it just gained more popularity than most MMO's, also the fact is it's actually doing rather well and fanboys like you can't stand it.
They threw so much money at SW:TOR and the numbers are on the decline. If it were better it would show in the numbers but it's not. Most people I hear talk about the game admit it's a knock off of poor quality, it's fun but the novelty disappears quickly hence the drop in subscriptions.
Enjoy your poorly rushed game. Maybe next month they'll give you another medal for being gullible.
@spontaneoussam2 They aren't as low end as WoW but not as high as like AoC. They are quite good and don't have a bad performance hit unless you're PC is close to the min requirements.
if you think wow graphics are even close to swtor then I think you're beyond getting glasses, maybe a guide dog would be enough for your sight-challenged eyes
this looks worse than WoW, every race is a human with a different head. And why did they remove the high-res textures? The seven year old unfinished hero engine couldn't handle it?
Isn't this a good thing? Is it not a good thing to have a game that ISN'T a powerhouse just so only a FEW computers can play it? After all, if they had a game that had graphics in comparison with Crysis 2 or something, then only a real handful of people could really play the game. But this is an MMO game, meaning it should have a massive community, not just those elitists with amazing computers playing them. In the future, everyone can play this game, that's what makes the graphics last.
So... was this just a video Bioware put out to try and make themselves feel better about their shitty character and armor models? They talk to much about how they wanted the graphics to be top-notch because of the close-up view you get of your character during the cinematics, but that's when the horrid models are MOST apparant....
Seriously why do people think these graphics suck? They are basically the same as Mass Effects since they are both created by Bioware. I didnt play in the beta so I wouldnt know how much actually changed
I don't get why everybody sais the graphics aren't as good as in this video... i've got all settings on low and it looks pretty much just as detailed as shown here. Also, people compairing WoW's and SWTOR graphics really should take another look. I've played wow in the highest settings and it didn't even compair to SWTOR in low. I'm also not a fan of manga/anime style, so i will always pick SWTOR over Aion or Rift.
Saving money for a new computer to fully put SWTOR to the test!
Personally, I think the "SW: TOR" graphics aren't that spectacular. Being an artist and a huge fan of 2D animation, these models lack a lot in facial expression. They are still too stiff.
To be fair, being a veteran player of "WoW", I have come to accept stiff faces, but heck, if you look at some of the latest ones like the Thrall model and also the Pandaren one in the upcoming "Mists of Pandaria" expansion, the facial animation is really good. This game has a long way to go, to be honest.
I wish they would make an HD remake of Kotor 1 & 2 like they did with halo 1 those were the best star wars games ever when they came out (i stil think they are) they have a bunch of fans and it would sell like crazy.plus they could fix the problems in Kotor 2 like add the HK-50 factory and fix the ending.and can they stop making the force unleashed and Kinect games who asked for these? people want battlefront 3!!
@zeeberj You can download restoration mods for the Hk-factory and other cut content. I just did, and I have fallen in love with the games once again. SO much more stuff to do now, and the stories make a lot more sense.
Also - you use outdated GW2 videos - the latest build shows brand new animations and design way better than the previous ones. Another important aspect that you are missing is animation fluidity - SWTOR looks clunky while GW2 has a certain flow from animation to animation.
How can you expect graphics to be so amazing in an MMO? You should play the game based on the graphics. How about how fun it is? Or how challenging it is?
FAKE advertisement! Don't buy swtor because of the graphics shown here! Actual in-game graphics (mostly character models) is almost worse than WoW counterparts, and not even comparable to Tera or GW2.
@Sanguinej3s3 Are you blind? GW2 is the prettiest, but SWTOR is hands down prettier than WoW. I'm not dogging WoW, I just stating facts. WoW is a ten year old game. What do you expect?
@LuomuKekkonen there was nothing prerendered about any of those ToR shots, thats all in-game footage. if you want to see prerendered watch the trailers.
For the many of us that are forced to have graphics set to low and off, they sure need to make quest things much easier to see. Makes we just want to stop playing cant find things.
Am I the only one to notice, that he dodges any real comment on GW2's gfx other than being 'anime inspired' ? Trying to avoid GW2 fanboy flame? Or just considering the WIP nature of GW2 atm? You choose.
It's pretty damn funny reading the omg swtor is soo much better than wow and vice versa. Been seeing the same argument on multiple forums for months now. Everybody has thier niche that they find in any mmo game whether it's dungeons, raids, pvp, casual play, rpg or whatever...It's very possible swtor could go the way of rift.. Personally I think it's going to depend how good the end game content is and if the game can cater to all player types...
Its so sad to see such a good video getting slandered by the same gang of gw2, rift and WoW players thats currently pestering the TOR community. Good thing none of them will ever commit to thumbing down your video to oblivion. :)
@MrFlunkorg Its mostly backlash from the retards flooding their forums with the "LOL THIS GAEM IS DEAD ONCE TOR COMES OUT." Bloody hypocrits if you ask me.
as soon as you used the word toons i turned off this review and gave it a dislike. Nice try but you kind of missed the point that SWTOR can utilize much more powerful graphics cards and processors but failed to do so. kind of annoying imo...
This was very well done. You rarely showed any HINT of bias and proceeded with showing us all the viewpoints of each games graphics in comparison to the newer SWTOR. Thumb up for you.
you know, if i where to take a low res pic of swtor and compare it to a high res of rift, well then the rift one would look alot better. You have to be impartial in these videos, not just feed the fanboys with the worst possible pictures of the other games, and the best possible pictures of your game to make it look better.
WoW graphics make you feel like you are there. Realism doesn't make games great. Why the hell would I want to play a fantazy game with realistic graphics? Realism = no immersion.
@epsilon881 I think it's the exact opposite, look at skyrim. One of the most immersive games of this decade, and they capitalize on realistic graphics even when it's a fantasy. In fantasy games most people want to just loose them selves in the world, if you make it look like a complete cartoon, there's no connection, it's to unrealistic, I know i'm in a game world nothing like our own. I think SWTOR strikes a great balance with there stylized realism technique.
@epsilon881 No, the good thing with wow isn't the bad graphics, it's that you can tell things apart. Many games who have high graphics are cluttered and many things look alike
Iogun24x7 you shouldn't have compared TOR to GW2 graphics. The game is in development, and developers are polishing the cinematics. Best judged when the game releases. Even at that time, GW2 still looked 100x more appealing than TOR.

Real depth is not playing through a story that won't change the next time you play it enough to warrant another play-through, written by someone other than me. But that's just my opinion. The game is good for a few months at the very least.
Decimus78 1 month ago
@Decimus78 And WoW was based off everquest. Whats your point?
LimpSaber 1 month ago 23
@LimpSaber The post I was responding to suggested that SWTOR is deeper and that other games were based on WoW, when the same is true of SWTOR. This has nothing to do with what WoW was based on. The game's not that deep where it counts - gameplay. You're still doing the same hotkey based shit while standing still. You don't even get to choose your own starting area. The devs are playing your story for you, if that's deep, I feel sorry for you.
Decimus78 1 month ago
@Decimus78 So what do you want? To write the story yourself? Gameplay is similar to other mmos, yes. Although I don't see Huttball in WoW.
WoW is not the first ever MMO. WoW did not invent the wheel, WoW was a copy/paste of Everquest. Get over the fanboyism please.
LimpSaber 1 month ago
@LimpSaber Newsflash.. I don't play WoW. This was not about WoW or where it came from. I was just responding to a comment you made about "other" games being based on WoW when SWTOR is no different aside from voice acting. The gameplay at its core is still the same grind, I just don't find it deep, it's all a matter of opinion. I'm actually playing SWTOR but it's getting harder to log in unless friends are on.
Decimus78 1 month ago
@LimpSaber lol i no right everyone "THEY COPIED WOW!!" well... wow copied everquest so...
MinM66 1 month ago
@LimpSaber Yeah replying to one week old post. WoW is based off the warcraft RTS series. Just being a hotkey style MMO doesn't mean it copied everquest, but yeah I see you were just trying to prove a point to whatever the other guy said. (I never looked at what was said.) Just had the urge to correct.
gameraqua 4 weeks ago
@gameraqua WoW used a modified Warcraft engine you mean. The actual MMO style was based off Everquest, most older gamers wont even question that. The engine that TOR uses though is a little questionable, although it seems to work. I remember questioning why WoW used it's engine when it was released, but obviously it worked for them too.
LimpSaber 4 weeks ago
@LimpSaber I wasn't talking about the engine warcraft uses, but the hotkey style of play. Everquest borrowed what it had from games before it. Like WoW did and like SWTOR did. I don't think it is right to call much of anything 100% original. All innovations of one another with a different skin.
And the Hero engine that SWTOR uses is a terrific MMO engine, but a few have pointed out it does not work with everything Bioware wanted to do, which in turn causes some things to be weird.
gameraqua 4 weeks ago
@gameraqua I never actually said Everquest was 100% original. I do however find it amusing how tenacious the WoW fans are of defending their game. Especially when I enjoyed many years on that game myself. Both games are good in my opinion, although from the perspective of a veteran WoW player, it got far too repetitive and stale. But my tastes are my own opinion. Fact is, wow graphics are old now, and things have moved on. Which is why its not the king of subs anymore.
LimpSaber 3 weeks ago
@LimpSaber WoW was based of warcraft 3, wich came out long before everquest...
RobtheGrizzybear 3 weeks ago
@RobtheGrizzybear I'm not talking about the story, and originally was not talking about the engine. Please read...
LimpSaber 3 weeks ago
@LimpSaber The difference with WoW and EQ is that WoW implemented on things EQ did by adding things that weren't there.
SW:TOR pretty much copied WoW and added nothing. Before you go saying "but the voice acting!"; the voice acting adds NOTHING to an MMO. It's single player feature, not a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER feature.
The game play is nearly identical but worse, there's nothing you do when playing that is different and unique. You're paying a fee for a game that could of been single player.
toolazytomakeoneup 3 weeks ago
@toolazytomakeoneup Sorry but most stupid comment.
WoW did not implement 1 important thing in MMOs, it took them from other ones.
So does SWTOR, of course you now see lots of stuff that worked in WoW before cause it worked in other MMOs years before. But not just all in 1 MMO.
So SWTOR does same thing, just better.
lonejustice555 3 weeks ago
@lonejustice555 Not one important thing? I call bull. They implemented the battleground system, dungeon instancing, raid bosses and mechanics, the UI they made is pretty much standard now, same for the abilities and mechanics of the classes.
The list goes on. SWTOR doesn't do the same thing and better, it poorly copied. It's okay you're a fanboy and you want to try and convince others that your purchase was reasonable. It wasn't. You're paying for a single playing game with some MM option.
toolazytomakeoneup 3 weeks ago
@toolazytomakeoneup That's funny because reading your comments i only see one fanboy screaming and that's you. First of all SWTOR isernt a knock off of anything, every game from MMO's to FPS's to RTS's all feature similar mechanics of previous titles in the genres or other genres. You say everyone you know say's it's a poor copy? WoW was a copy it just gained more popularity than most MMO's, also the fact is it's actually doing rather well and fanboys like you can't stand it.
rileyboy10 1 week ago
@lonejustice555 Sorry meant MP* for mutiplayer at the end.
Maybe next month they'll give you another medal for being gullible.
toolazytomakeoneup 3 weeks ago
@LimpSaber no it wasn't, they're widely different
TheCrackerBrony 3 days ago
@TheCrackerBrony Are you talking about WoW today, or WoW as it was in vanilla, when people were making the change from EQ?
Or are you comparing WoW to TOR? You'll need to be more specific.

ChazeQ 1 month ago
this looks worse than WoW, every race is a human with a different head. And why did they remove the high-res textures? The seven year old unfinished hero engine couldn't handle it?
SuperPoxuz 1 month ago
Isn't this a good thing? Is it not a good thing to have a game that ISN'T a powerhouse just so only a FEW computers can play it? After all, if they had a game that had graphics in comparison with Crysis 2 or something, then only a real handful of people could really play the game. But this is an MMO game, meaning it should have a massive community, not just those elitists with amazing computers playing them. In the future, everyone can play this game, that's what makes the graphics last.
TheBadShaman 1 month ago
So... was this just a video Bioware put out to try and make themselves feel better about their shitty character and armor models? They talk to much about how they wanted the graphics to be top-notch because of the close-up view you get of your character during the cinematics, but that's when the horrid models are MOST apparant....

DarkDevan 1 month ago
Personally, I think the "SW: TOR" graphics aren't that spectacular. Being an artist and a huge fan of 2D animation, these models lack a lot in facial expression. They are still too stiff.
To be fair, being a veteran player of "WoW", I have come to accept stiff faces, but heck, if you look at some of the latest ones like the Thrall model and also the Pandaren one in the upcoming "Mists of Pandaria" expansion, the facial animation is really good. This game has a long way to go, to be honest.

I wish they would make an HD remake of Kotor 1 & 2 like they did with halo 1 those were the best star wars games ever when they came out (i stil think they are) they have a bunch of fans and it would sell like crazy.plus they could fix the problems in Kotor 2 like add the HK-50 factory and fix the ending.and can they stop making the force unleashed and Kinect games who asked for these? people want battlefront 3!!
zeeberj 1 month ago
@zeeberj You can download restoration mods for the Hk-factory and other cut content. I just did, and I have fallen in love with the games once again. SO much more stuff to do now, and the stories make a lot more sense.
flinchfly57 1 month ago
GW2 has anime-like graphics? What?!
Also - you use outdated GW2 videos - the latest build shows brand new animations and design way better than the previous ones. Another important aspect that you are missing is animation fluidity - SWTOR looks clunky while GW2 has a certain flow from animation to animation.

WoW graphics make you feel like you are there. Realism doesn't make games great. Why the hell would I want to play a fantazy game with realistic graphics? Realism = no immersion.
epsilon881 2 months ago
@epsilon881 lol realism = no immersion.
Bullshit. You obviously have no fucking idea.
GrenadierBiermann 2 months ago
@epsilon881 I think it's the exact opposite, look at skyrim. One of the most immersive games of this decade, and they capitalize on realistic graphics even when it's a fantasy. In fantasy games most people want to just loose them selves in the world, if you make it look like a complete cartoon, there's no connection, it's to unrealistic, I know i'm in a game world nothing like our own. I think SWTOR strikes a great balance with there stylized realism technique.
kbizz640 2 months ago
@epsilon881 No, the good thing with wow isn't the bad graphics, it's that you can tell things apart. Many games who have high graphics are cluttered and many things look alike
