maybe it's just me, but doesn't Diana sometimes sound like she enunciates in a way that makes her sound a little Jamaican? just wanted to throw that out there o_O
THey really look mas sexy in this clip, and like others have said, it is great to see them all lead something on television. I am sure their families had to be thriled about this performance. They all sound great to me.
@rioboy13 Yippee!, I nearly fainted when I saw this a while back as I couldn't believe what I was seeing, we get to see Flo sing at last and she was awesome, must have hurt Ross to let Flo and Mary have a turn each. I know I am being mean but I just had to get that one in. Love Flo and Mary, so beautiful with perfect figures. lol
Darn, this is the best. I loved when they had those tight complex 3 part harmonies, and I love songs like this and their version of "After All" when they trade leads. The group was at it's best when all members were allowed to contribute more equally. That's what's missing in the later singles, the three part harmonies.

Wow! It is really rare to see all of them displaying their talent... Mary really did her thing. She has such an earthy voice! Wonderful, thank you for posting.
@tummielvr Oh! then you would enjoy their version of "It Makes No Difference Now" (from their SING COUNTRY, WESTERN, & POP album) Mary opens the song, Flo sings the middle, and Diana finishes the song =)
That is because the Supremes were better singers. the Beatle sshine mostly as extraordinary song writers and fun performers. Many were better singers. But, this is cool, really cool.
love the supremes and while i understand why berry got them to sing many "middle of the road" songs for the white audience, and sounded pleasant , i think ill stick to the soulful sounds of the girls where they ruled.thanks supremes 59 for bringing another part of the supremes story onto these pages,i think "i hear a symphony " next ha,take care.
I love the Supremes' version of this song and my favorite Beatles' song is "Wait a Minute Mr. Postman" originally recorded by The Marvelettes. Go figure!
very cute... you can see at about 1:05, Mary glanced at Flo, she looked nervous with her solo coming....Diana's voice did cut thru, and with her drive and ambition, i think thats what put them into orbit. They all had the poise, but Diana had that little extra. i love them and miss Miss Flo.
I think I alot of there songs should be shared because Mary and Florence did better then Miss Ross. I personal think Mary and Florence put more soul than Ross to show that they can indeed sing!
Very subjective and depends on who you ask. I find the others to have regular voices that have no distinction. For me AND MOST OF THE BUYING PUBLIC....Diana's voice had a character and sound that to this day hasn't been copied. .....And perhaps if you were in charge of the group they would have and consequently they may have never been the legendary group they were. I think they made the right decision in selecting her as lead. The history speaks for itself.
i was obsessed with the three of them when they looked like that in 63/64 or so...looking at Mary and her young clueless mug just takes me back whimsically... and low & behold i be melancholy...thx i could listen to Flo and Mary do solos all nite. don't know why. obsessed with them not getting a chance to shine i guess and how long ago was that? still want them to get a chance. a little late but discoveries are aolways unearthed. that's the only new ear candy around for the likes of me.
I remember this video from back in the day when it first aired on tv. I was just listening to "A Bit Of Liverpool" and missed this song. Thanks for posting it.

They did that quite often ... especially in live club performances ... it's so cool to hear each of the girls with their own distinctive voices and then blending it all back together at certain points in the song. Fabulous!
Are they supposed to be dressed like the beatles?

Flod id sound nice, but kind of tentative at the beginning. To be honest, Mary walked away with this one.

WOW I just l o v e when all 3 get to shine like this!
Flo should have done this kind of Pop/Rock in addition to the R&B/Pop that she did with ABC as a solo artist 'cause she sounds GREAT here
