My understanding is that under a normal bankruptcy process the mortgage brokerage company would have to sell off their assets (including loans) to another investor even if it meant at rockbottom price. So this seems very unique as it means that the mortgage broker's bankruptcy handling firm was not even able to sell this house for any price, that's just scary.

Texas is a deed state, so this means that at tax time, he must pay the taxes on the property, or an auction will take place, and if the home has a homestead status, that person has a two year redemption period , If someone buys the lien at auction for say 100,000 dollars, he will need to pay 100,000 plus 50% plus penalties, to redeem the property. If no homestead in attached to the property, then he will have 180 days to redeem, or be evicted .

Texas is a deed state, so this means that at tax time, he must pay the taxes on the property, or an auction will take place, and if the home has a homestead status, that person has a two year redemption period , If someone buys the lien at auction for say 100,000 dollars, he will need to pay 100,000 plus 50% plus penalties, to redeem the property. If no homestead in attached to the property, then he will have 180 days to redeem, or be evicted .

Actually adverse possession is a pretty large chunk of every land law curriculum, definitely not as obscure as they made it out to be. Still, kudos to the dude for getting a bargain.
I did not completely catch why the company could not claim against him, though. Surely, even if they are bankrupt, they have an administrator or bankruptcy trustee or whatever who has standing to claim the house.

@Gplex heres why i think its not immoral: the person didnt pay for his house so he got kicked out. mortage company went bankrupt so he probably stopped paying his debt to them. then kenneth comes in and he still has 3 years to pay off his debt before attempting to get his house back. it was his fault the whole way. if hed kept paying his debts he mightve already paid them off and been living back in his house

1.) Can't be arrested for trespassing, cops have stated it. Maybe you missed that little part about it being a civil problem, either that or you can't read (or can't hear).
2.) The property has no legal owner, because by LAW the original owner lost it to debt, and the bank that owned it foreclosed therefore abandoning it. You do understand what abandonment means, right? Would you like me to "school" you, ol chap? :D

@e314ds (Cont'd) The same would apply with an abandoned car. If the owner walks away from it, but they still had for instance 5,000 dollars to pay on the car, then the dealership who sold it to them has the rights of ownership.
If on the other hand the owner walked away from it and they owed no money on it, or if they did owe money the dealership whom they owed money to went south, then you could by law call the car yours by filing the correct paperwork."

@e314ds And you have yet to bring up the Adverse Possession law in Texas. As stated in the original video, in order for the banks to go for it (the true owners as there is no mortgage company that owns it) they would have to go through a complicated process that would more than likely cost them more money than they would make. Not likely, possible but not likely. +1.
The original owner cannot take it back because he owes that debt on it, and that debt he owns to various banks that now own it :3

@OmniDaAngel Maybe you need to read this thread. I'm not going to explain adverse possession over and over for every troll who comes along. A lot of what the hosts said is either misleading, conjecture, or just plain false. I never said that the original owner can take it back. You keep bringing up all sorts of crap which I never said, which tells me you're lacking in the brain department. Go ask your parents if you want to learn something. Hopefully they have a clue.
