hey quick question....im just getting started cross country mountain biking and the only event i did was the rosarito to ensenada bike ride (50 miles), and i did it in 5 hrs and 50 min (bad time i know lol), my question though is....how long are these mtb xc events cause ive been wanting to get into one! i have a gt avalanche 3.0
they dont pick world cup courses strictly on difficulty. the track in my backyard is harder than anything they would ever race but a lot of the traacks they ride tend to show their skill better, they have some what technical sections, maybe a rock garden or stairs to deal with, then aome fast sections as well as some decent climbs thrown into the mix..they want to test the athletes but they arent going yo make the courses so difficult no one wants to race it...
My high school team races on harder courses... We're often riding mud like you wouldn't believe. And btw Kona xc race bikes kick serious ass. (Take a look at the Kona Hei Hei Supreme - Amazing)

Why do the serious bike riders wear cock, ball, and ass hugging spandex? They aren't going fast enough to help with wind resistance. So what is the reason? Thanks
buwahahaha, i hate running on the single track. when the guy infront of you dismounts on the bike and starts to run, you have almost no choice but to run as well.....

@310extreme Best thing to do is just ride as many events as you can.
Different events are all different times. XC race can be anything from 30 min to 2 hours.
Just get involved and you will love it.

Because it supports your muscles, keeps them warm and they dry out quickly.
The padding helps as well.
