  • I hope you got a Quadruple A+

if not, that would be so ludicrous if you didn't.

    Very Informative, and AWESOME!

  • GOOD JOB :D

  • aaaaaaa i love your movies

  • I love Miyazaki movies! My favorite is Howl's Moving Castle ^^ I remember back in '04 I think it was, Cartoon Network did a month of Miyazaki movies. Thats what introduced me to he's movies. I wish Cartoon Network would do that again...

  • You should update this. When you made this Ponyo wasn't even out yet, so definitely update it!

  • awesome ^^ this is helping me with my biography I have to do a lot :D just some advice try and speak slower so we can understand you better. ^^

  • Lol, the riots. I swore that was him throwing the rocks... to the music..

    Pricelss! *holds sides*

  • When the earthquake happened, the first thought in my mind was is Hayao Miyazaki was alive...

  • animes are a good. thing

  • spirited away, nausica, princess mononoke, hauls moving castle and slightly totoro are enjoyable if you are a 16+year old man. the others are just too childish imo. great art but too childish.

  • @churde

I enjoyed them, 27 years old

Anything with heart and soul is A-Ok in my book

    But that's my opinion

  • My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away were the first two Miyazaki films I saw as a kid! :D

  • my hero

  • it makes me so sad that hes so old, i want to experience more of his masterpieaces of animations.

  • I really want MORE movies from him, i've been waching ALL his movies since i was 7! I really don't know what i wud do without him. There's not a year that goes by without me watching not one of his movies. :'(

  • i wonder what planes would look like if he had chosen a career in aviation drawing plane concepts.....

  • I Never Knew About His Other Films Like That Panda One D: HOW DID YOU FIND OUT!!! DX

  • @TWILIGHTTOWNROXASKH2

    The power of the internet :}

  • I loved how monotonous and "charismatic" the narration was... I was completely captivated by its sleep-aluring aura ... >.>

  • this guy is a legend... i still watch and am amazed by these films!! even in 2011

  • This sounds like it sort of came out of wikipedia... oh well, you did great on the commentary anyways. ^_^ Looks very professional. :)

  • new ghibli film arrietty watch -animecrazy

  • that was a good documentary, well done :)

  • Yeah you're right, I spelled Nausicaa wrong. Sorry, I guess I was in a bad mood.

  • Everyone should check out the manga Miyazaki made and no I don't mean the one's based on his films I mean like the manga he personally made himself not based on any film. Nausicaa was a manga before an anime movie and it was a little more deep than the film. Panels are pretty small in it though but the art is very good with detailed backgrounds.

  • It's not Nasicau. It's Naussica, and it's not Roso its Rosso.

  • @jeanluc6430 It's Nausicaa not Naussica...

  • @futureanimatior She says them so strangely. That's all.

  • Miyazaki san will have no equal

  • Miyazaki, you are a selfish, selfish man. Mind spreading that all-encompassing talent of yours a little bit? Writing, drawing, and directing (with the occasional flirtation with producing)? You are too talented, my friend...and thanks for everything.

  • Great filmmaker. He is a very good story teller and he keeps great focus on his stories.

  • I didn't realize i grew up watching these movies until now!! thanks for all this info! I really found a new love for this man! It's interesting and amazing how many of his movies were part of my childhood!!!! <3

  • I... must... watch... ALL OF THESE MOVIES!

  • This may sound odd, But I think they REALLY Should make a plush of Hayao Miyazaki himself. xDD I'd sooo buy it!! :3 It'd be soo cooooootttt!

  • Man after watching this i Feel like watching SPIRITED AWAY AGAIN AND AGAIN!! D:!! its SO GOOD :)

  • where can i find the movie: Princes mononoke ,howls moving castle

  • @asura0528808 amazon.com

  • @asura0528808 In a shop. Legally.

  • @asura0528808 torrents... : )

  • @asura0528808

veoh.com look up howls moving castle eng dub you can download it

  • @asura0528808 library

  • Chihiro is her name..it is only "sen' later but never really changed

  • Nice job, good video clips... I just wish the voice over was done better... or at least you got a better quality microphone. Also you might want to work on your pronunciation, for example Nippon is pronounced "Nii-pon" (with the "ii" sounding like if you were to say the English letter "E") instead of "Nih-pon".

  • When I first saw Sprited Away, I was, well, so to say ,Sprited away myself, by how well written and animated it was. I always say that, there is always one film, thats puts a studio on the map, and Sprited Away really did just that the same way Pixar was put on the map with Toy story.

  • it's hayao mizayaki in a nutshell!! kudos for your work and research :D

  • i just love HAYAO MIYAZAKI 's cartoons and films <3 <3 <3

  • happy 70th birthday, Mr. Miyazaki!!

  • fag

  • It was all good until you started saying MENGA

  • Happy 70th Birthday, Miyazaki-san! You provided so many good emotions throughout two decades! I'm glad I know your art ^_^

  • Many of his films i saw when i was little, now years later watching them again i can say that they are still the best movies ever!

  • I can remember renting Totoro from the video store almost every week when I was younger. 11 years later I still love the movie just the same. Hayao Miyazaki's films are just amazingly done.

  • Did anyone else notice that totoro was in toy story 3:)??

  • @morrisonr4 everytime i saw totoro i said

    "HE's SO FREAKIN' CUTE!"

  • @morrisonr4 I did. Love it! Fav animated film due to that.

  • @morrisonr4 yes

  • @morrisonr4 : I did! Yay!

  • I did! Yay Totoro!

  • I did! Yay, Totoro!

  • @morrisonr4 Yeah Miyazaki was very happy that John put him in there :)

  • @morrisonr4 yeah he look awsome

  • @morrisonr4 i did!!!!!

  • YAY SPIRITED AWAY THE BEST!!!!! NEVER DIE HAYAO, NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!

NEVER!!! I SAW THIS WHEN I WAS 3 IN 2001 AND THOGHT IT WAS THE BES, I SAW THE OTHERS, BUT I STILL LIKED SPIRITED AWAY BETTER AND I WAS RIGHT :$ **CHIHIRO X HAKU**

  • Did u get an a? :)

  • @fpsisfun i got an A in the class. didnt' ask the Professor about the grade for the project.

  • The dialogue in this is too close to his wikipedia page.

  • @zachsocool16 My group partner wrote the dialogue. However, we gathered information from several websites. Most of the info are from nausicaa.net. I haven't read the wiki page, but I doubt we copied from that because it wasn't one of our sources.

  • Hayao god of the anime my feverite animator

  • Hayao god of the anime my faverite animator

  • Wow, a I just realised Mr Miyazaki has the same birthday as me (January 5th).

    I'm honored. :')

  • FUCK YOU DISNEY STOP TAKING CREDIT FOR MIYAZAKI'S WORK

  • nice vid, did Hayao Miyazaki have a spot in BIO? (tv channel) or any educational channel?

  • @arsetothem as I recall, he did.

  • @su20mm00er really???? man... what program (tv)? BIO? Discovery? can i watch it in the net?

  • @arsetothem There are plenty of documentaries of him on the the internet.

  • my fave is definetly Laputa: The Castle in the sky

i watch it everyweek and i cry everytime i watch it such a happy ending and soo romantic and not to mention laputa made studio ghibli very famous and also spirited away

  • if miyazaki is to be compared to anyone it would be pixard. Pixard and miyazaki are both incredible story tellers and creative in their own way. they can't be compared since they're in two different types of animation but you gotta admit they are both AMAZING. Disney can't even compare between the two.

  • miyazaki eres genial todoas tus fans esperamos con ancias a que saques la continuacion de el viaje de chihiro viva hayao miyazaki

  • of his all movies i love the "princess mononoke":)

  • Ponyo?

  • @airthebear1140 i love that movie

  • Ponyo?

  • Miazaki is AMAZING!

  • hes lyk another dr.susse

  • Hayao Miyazaki is truly a genius and I really enjoy watching his movies, but it seems like everyone here is putting him on a pedestal. Which is fine I guess, but c'mon, to dismiss everything Walt Disney has done just seems like a given and pretty lame imo. Thats when I can't take people seriously, they are so one-dimensional. It's like, "No, I only love one thing in this world" I mean c'mon! Without Disney, animated films wouldn't amount to anything in the US. I respect both for what they do.

  • @JamesChristian724 hello dear James

What is special in hayaos films that he does not use computer in drawing and animating and he products his films alone with little help from others.

Disney on the other hand seems to be a gigantic animation factory.

I love hayaos films but frankly who watch his films alot knows that he copies his charachtaristics from one film to another. He is the only one in the world that is using 256 colors in painting and i think this is not good.

  • @rostomation - Hello, Rostomation. Actually, Hayao Miyazaki does use computers for his animation, just not a lot and not personally. Princess Mononoke was the first of his films to experiment with computers, but most of it was hand drawn, much like all his other films afterwards. In Ponyo, he personally drew all the waves instead of using computers. Hayao Miyazaki is amazing, but so is Disney. You can't dismiss films like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Pocahontas, Aladdin, and so on.

  • @JamesChristian724 My name is Rostom :-) The "ation" is just for making my self little important - kidding - How can we forget the first black and white Mickey Mouse.

    See Youuuu!

  • @JamesChristian724 actually ponyo used no computer animation whatsoever. they even hand colored everything. that is why it is much simpler looking

  • what about The Cat Returns?

  • miyazaki makes movies better than most hollywood movies nowadays

  • Mr. Hayao Miyazaki should be the boss for Disney-pixar

  • resulta odioso comparar a Disney con Miyazaqui. Disney es nuestra niñes y eso es inolvidable. Miyazaqui es un mundo mejor cuando eres adulto y eso se aprecia mucho. ambos son buenos. y agradezco su existencia.

  • im so glad he didnt retire forever and came back to make spirited away. <333333333 One of the best movies i have ever seen.

  • Disney & Ghibli are both worlds apart yet brothers; they both appreciate and love animation dearly as a medium for their masterpieces.

  • I love both disney and hayao miyazaki. When people say that one's better than the other, I don't think it's right because both have worked hard to create masterpieces.

  • hayao miyazaki : the anime GOD

  • i love spirited away

  • @badassreinitz one of the best films ever.

  • do you know where i can watch the movie Watchdog bow-wow if you know plz tell me !!!!!!!!!!!=]

  • One word describes hayao miyazaki: Genius <3<3

  • wow that was really good! i just watched cagliostro an hour ago lol ;) just add ponyo it will be perfect :D

  • Sounds like it was a fun japanese final. :)

  • @MomijiRocks it was. too bad my equipment was horrible back then.

  • Did you write the biography for Hayao Miyazaki on Wikipedia?

  • @Illusive93 nope. and we didn't copy from it. we gathered info from different websites and wiki wasn't one of them.

  • Hayao Miyazaki is the best for anima!!!!!!!!!!!!! its his own creation disney in the other hand is all coprights from other countrys.

  • Thanks Mr. Miyazaki

  • wonderful

I'm Big fan of Miyazaki and his work

  • I love all of hayao miyazaki's films but totoro is the one close to my heart ;-) thanks for posting

  • can we stop comapering gihbly to myazaki.

they are both great company so there is no reason to say witch one is better.

  • c'mon we have to accept that both disney and hayao miyazaki are good. the difference is that while disney does have some bad films hayao doesn't have a single one. but then disney has made 10 times the number f films hayao made.

  • you see once he signs the contract to disney they now own him

  • I am crazy about Howl's Moving Castle. I've seen it like 3 times in the past 48 hours

  • @Bricksmith

That's "SANPO" from My Neighbor Totoro.

Search on youtube, and you'll find it.

  • PLEASE, anyone, WHERE can I find the music playing during the first 20 seconds ? :- oo Need it so much ! Beautiful ...

  • PONYOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • my favourite is how'l moving castle and what about you?

  • Wow, this video REALLY helped me get a start with my own report on Hayao and how his movies are in the "Magical Realism" genre. Thank you so much! :D

  • love it ^^

  • I can not tell you how many times I have stayed up late watching his movies as a little girl. I still love his movies as a 14 year old. I find him to be the world's greatest director, artist, and animator that ever lived. I am always amazed how he can create these characters and bring so much life into the movies that they make me feel like I'm actually there. It matters not if your 5 or 99 you will love Hayo Miyazaki's movies

  • @ninjabox3 I could'nt agree with you more. I mean, this man is a true genius. I remember the first time watching Nausicaa so many years ago when I was little. So many awesome memories of Miyazaki's films.....hes just too brilliant for words. ^_^

  • studioghiblifilms(dot)com ~ Studio Ghibli Films ~ Joe Hisaishi Live Performances ~ Full Movies

  • i LOVE this man

  • The way she says "Laputa" drives me insane... its not correct.... but its nice video, very informative for such a short piece.

  • Haha yeah. La poota....

  • i watched spirited away its the best film i have ever seen i wish theyed make a second one

  • Not really, the magic of miyazaki's films is that each and every film is unique!

  • Miyazaki runs circles around Disney. I don't even know if I've said the phrase right, but you know what I mean. Disney's a legend. Miyazaki's a god.

  • @Swiftlygothedays actually they work together alot.

  • @Swiftlygothedays ja bien argentino el ingles, bien dicho

  • @Swiftlygothedays i agree with you on that one

  • @Swiftlygothedays disney arn't legend well if square enix hadn't got disneys characters they wouldn't be XD

  • @Swiftlygothedays they partner up a lot though, as much as i hate to say it :/

  • @RedSakuri

Well, I was talking about Disney as in the real person, not the company. Comparing people to people here. No one teams up with Walt Disney (the person) anymore because he's, well, been dead for ages. Miyazaki's studio teams up with the Disney company basically to distribute his studio's materials in the west.

  • @Swiftlygothedays Do you even know a thing about Walt Disney? Not the company. The human being. And not the whole "well he hated Jews because so and so told me so." Pick up a biography on him, and read about him. Both men deserve respect. Do you know what Walt did for the animation industry? He put his life on the line (I don't say that to be dramatic, I said it because he put A LOT OF MONEY into what he did), when he made the first sound cartoon. Show some respect. I'm sure Miyazaki does.

  • @ameart26 Respect? I already gave quite a bit to him. I called him a "legend", didn't I? "Legend" is not a title I give to anyone. Is that not enough respect? Or are you simply against my opinion because I perfer Miyazaki's work to his? It's simply a matter of personal tastes. Just because Disney is synonymous with cartoons does not mean I consider his work to be the most enjoyable or profound. And yes, I've read books about Disney. Very large books with big words. Thank you for your concern.

  • Don´t compare Disney to Miyazaki, is not good for Miyazaki.

  • @quemandolaciudad2000 walt disney employees pretty much introduced the 12 principles of animation, quit being disrespectful JAPAN IS SUPERIOR neckbeards

  • @afrivan03

yeah, but miyazaki is actually good. in fact amazing.

  • I don't like very much the electronic speaker.

But I love him!!!! And his masterpieces!

  • Great animator, good video.

  • this guy is the freakin japanese walt disney

  • love his movies so mutch

  • This was a really great Biography

    ***** stars!! :D

  • @leann2innocent thank you! i spent 4 months looking for all the hard to find video clips.

  • oh, the music is the main theme from howl's moving castle.

  • If you mean the intro, then no, it's from "My neighbor Totoro"

    both are fantastic movies though

  • I WILL MARRY HAYAO MIYAZAKI SOME DAY!!! Well, he'll be, like, 80 years old!!!

  • Great video! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this!

  • @Claycat4 thanks!

  • i love him!!! He's so brilliant!!

  • Miyazaki-san is a genius! I admire him!!

  • And now Ponyo!!!!!! Amazing how 3 years later, that simple final has gained you nearly 150,000 views- well, Hayao Miyazaki is an amazing man. His video biography definitely deserves all those views & more!

  • Your video-commentary was a nice work

and now we can add another Hayao mizaki production : Ponyo !

  • I've done multiple essays, projects and orals on Hayao Miyazaki-San, am a massive fan and he inspires my work in my college animation program. I found this very well set up, delivered and informative. But I'm sorry, I twitched so badly at the pronunciation errors in Laputa, Pazu and Porco Rosso.

Great Job, I hope you 2 got a good mark!

  • @ekf501 thanks. i got an A in class. so I believe I got an A on this.

  • His work is brilliant!

  • I love Miyazaki, He's brilliant!!

  • my sister is a hayao miyazaki fanatic

i love howl's, grave of the fire flies, totoro and spirited away

  • hayao haven't made grave of the fire flies...

  • oh really? who made it. Sorry i thought he was the one who made it because i have this dvd on hayao's works and it included it.

  • he did...

  • No, it was made directed, and writen by Isao Takahata

  • I think the reason people think Hayao made Grave of the Fireflies is because it was produced by Studio Gibli.
