Could you explain why your brother was reluctant to let it go at the end and why it seems to start moving after being stopped without being near the stator? Will it run on the glass table too? Have you tested it in various locations to be sure it works everywhere and not just in your home?

Come on. Of course it will run on a glass table, on a wooden table, on a stone table, may be not on a metal table. But all this is distraction from the real phenomenon. It will run in any location. You don't believe? Replicate it with the intention that it should run, so you don't make any fault while building it. Then it will work. There is no doubt.

I don't think so. You take a coil of wire and put it in series with an AA battery and a magnetic reed switch and tape that underneath the wooden base near the stator assembly. Congratulations, it took you less than two minutes to make a stripped-down version of a Bedini pulse motor and tape it into place on the bottom of the base.
