  • love this soooooo much and your other posts~!! I will repost this on my bettie b page! <3

  • I so enjoy your videos! I've always loved the hairstyles that ladies from this era wore but didn't think that they could be accomplished by mere mortals! Unfortunately, due to the hippie's lack of interest in hairstyling these skills didn't make through our families but you've shown that it is possible for an average lady to create hairstyles that are not just classic, but simply downright beautiful! Thanks!

  • Ashley, I just wanted to say that this was the first hairstyle of this series that I tried. My hair's a bit shorter than yours was in this vid, but I did the same sponge roller set overnight. Thanks to your great advice on combing out, it came out great. My camera's packed at the moment (moving soon), but I'll be doing this again and will send you the results. Thanks again!

  • I'm soooooo going to use this style to my friends prom next week. I finally found the style to go with my dress. Thanks!(:

  • very nice and helpful thanks :)

  • I LOVE Dorothy!!!! Thanks for this video

  • yo mama i dig Dorothy Dangridge, but you are where its at!

  • LOVE all the stuff you do lisa

  • why do you pout your lips?

  • @ingehoffs haha...just a habit when I'm thinking. Like people opening their mouth when they apply mascara, I guess. :)

  • You are so cute I can't even believe it! I love your videos, they are extremely helpful. I love trying out vintage-influenced styles but have always found certain things difficult so watching these tutorials really helps. Thank you!!

  • so pretty and elegant.

    classically pretty you are..

    yoda i am..

    lol

  • 'Do or do not. There is no try'. :)

  • Wow..thanks for sharing. I can always appreciate those classic hair styles on a woman.

  • You are the Best lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG my grandmother has a picture with her hairs done like this video!! hehehehe now i wanna try and recreate that picture

  • teehee Cute dancing!

It's such a perfect "everyday" style and super easy. Thanks! <3

  • So cute! Great style on you!

  • My hair is very thick and takes forever to dry, even dry sets that I just dampen. I'm tempted to buy a hard bonnet hair dryer to speed up the process. I don't always have time to wait for it to dry. Does anyone out there use one, or have any opinions?

    I really enjoy your videos!

  • I know what you mean...even my fine hair takes FOREVER to dry when it comes to a wet set like fingerwaves. I am going to get one, myself. I think there are some GREAT retro ones on ebay. :)

  • @LisaFreemontStreet so pretty! I'd like to try a Dorothy look sooner or later, her hair was so cool! I found some lovely retro dryers ones on etsy for good prices...it's heaven sent! I love my hard hat dryer :)

  • this video kicks ass, what color is ur hair in this video?

  • This is Loreal Preference in medium auburn kicked up with manic panic pillarbox and infra reds, combined. :)

  • oooh i LOOOOVVVEEEE pilar box red.

In highschool i dies my loooong blonde hair pillar box...ooooohhhh i loved it.

  • gorgeous, thanks for sharing.

  • loveing it very beautiful

  • The back looks so beautiful. This look suits you very well. I love it. Great job!

  • This is gorgeous!

  • You make it look sooo easy! Very pretty look, and love the hula dance. :)

  • really inspiring ...like always ;) ....great job

  • My goodness....you never cease to amaze me...great hair. I just discovered you about a month ago and I have been attempting to do these hairstyles since I was 14..I am now 33 and you just have these techniques down to a T..I have learned so much.Thank you!

  • Love the style! So sexy and soft. I can't wait to try it. When you sleep in your set do you wear a scarf or hair net over the set?

  • Yes indeed. A chiffon scarf. You can see it in my Runci Pin UP Hairstyle video. :)

  • I can hear all the sighs of sadness for not getting to see the roller set. But as usual, the final look is to die for. And your hair color just gets prettier and prettier.

  • I sighed myself. :)

  • @profoundtorture: I totally know what you mean....my brushing skills are so lacking, and she makes it look so easy!

  • so pretty! I love re-creating these styles with the challenge keeping them looking nice after a morning commute on the bus & train! (ick!)

  • This is so beautiful! You're so good at brushing out a roller set. I just can't see to do it right :(

  • Thanks, sweetie. Brushing is a learned art...rarely do people do it enough, these days. LOL

  • This is one of my favorites! So pretty!

  • nice..

  • I can not stop loving your red hair! Gosh its darling..... Like your intrepertation the style!

  • Beautiful! A really flattering style on you!

  • Thanks!

  • 3:09 - 3:11 had me in stitches - brilliant!

I love this vintage hair style and also the lip stick, u never caese to impress girl :-)

  • Coral lips, definitely a fifties staple. I'm starting to like them too. I love the 66 lip palette...I can mix it to the right shade instead of guessing at one color. Corals can look so WRONG if they're not JUST the right shade.

  • i love this series! You have taught me so much. There have been so many pincurls I wasted because I saw the frizz and gave up!

  • Ah, it's a shame to see pincurls die. :)

  • Any chance on seeing the other parts to this video? Setting the rolls and all?

  • No, I don't usually record the actual rolling process since most of the time I do that at night. As long as you know the direction to roll and what size rollers to use, it doesnt reall matter. But to see me rolling my hair on sponge rollers etc, see my Gil Elvgren tutorial.

  • Perfect thanks!

  • Would you consider doing Judy Garland's hair in "The Clock"? I love that move and I know you've done victory rolls in the past but this is a little different and with a hat! She also had it styled one other way I think. Thanks so much for all your fabulous posts here.

  • One of MY FAVORITE movies. I'd love to have an excuse to watch it again! Was there a particular scene you were considering? I know it's basically the same throughout etc...

  • I haven't seen it in so long, I'm not sure. But I know when they spend the day together she has victory rolls with a hat and on their "first" date I thought it was so sweet when he bought the flower for her hair. I don't think I've ever seen a flower like that placed on top of the head rather than behind the ear.

  • "Here's a little something to 'top you off'. I think I had this same conversation with Bernie Dexter just last year. I'm going to send her a note and see if she can give me some input about where to find a suitable 'hat'. :)

  • Hooray!! I can't wait! I'll be on pins and needles!

  • That is such a good suggestion! :)

  • very pretty style. To bad my hair is way to long for it. lol

  • YAY!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing Ms. Dandridge. I love the hair styles and it looks so perfect with your red hair. :D

  • Pictures look perfect!!! How long does this look last? do your the curls last a few days when you roll it in sponge rollers?

  • The look itself will last for the whole day, more than likely. As for 'next day hair', I can usually protect my curls by sleeping in a chiffon scarf at night but the style will have to be different the next day.

  • you are so gorgeous it's not even funny.

i love all of your tutorials and reviews, one of my favorite people on youtube :)

    <3

  • Yeehooo!

  • I`d loved to see you in a 50ies twinset.

  • Amazing!

  • Awesome! I love your videos! :D
