slippingontheslide : From what I have learned since discovering Muriel Anderson here on YouTube she was indeed trained as a classical guitarist but from her videos you will find that her repertoire includes a very broad collection genres. If you want to hear her play flamenco check out her performance with Lawrence Juber and Phil Keaggy - it's awesome!!!

Take up piano and classical guitar then it gets a lot easier. You have a head ache for a while but when it gets too much just walk away and let your brain come to terms with what it has learnt, then it gets easier. I took a sabatical from playing and came back much improved. I've heard the same from others too.

Muriel is an extremley talent guitarist and it would have been nice if she had have put her own spin on this tune as its always goin to be compared to Tommy Emmanuels version. Excellent none the less.

The added bass line in the middle is a nice touch. You hear a lot of the Tommy Emmanuel's version of Day Tripper on YouTube (which is spectacular, of course), but this is a nice variation. It's hard to talk and play this style, too, but she does it pretty well.

John, it doesn't take a great guitar player to tell that someone sucks. I can't build a house but I can tell you if it's built wrong. Supersampler doesn't need to post anything, he didn't say he was great, just that she wasn't, and that's the truth.

The truth is that she's a world class fingerstyle guitar player. I admit her playing isn't its best here..but at the same time shes talking through a lot of it for explanatory reasons. If you guys knew anything about fingerstyle guitar players you would know she won the national fingerpicking guitar championship in 1989. Also Chet Atkins regarded her as one of the best players around. Take a look at some other clips of her on youtube and tell me she "sucks".

I have seen her other clips! She plays a classical piece well but her playing day tripper live was just as bad as this. Don't even get me started on superstition. I heard she won an award twenty years ago. She has talent, just not compared to her peers. If you know of a good video of her, please let me know. I know they must be out there.
